Out of the box, it looked brand new. No scratches or noticeable wear. With the processor and RAM, it's super fast. As a multimedia developer/designer, I run the Adobe Creative Suite without trouble. The display is on par with other laptops I've used; I've calibrated it and it just doesn't have the extra depth for color/brightness/contrast/gamma that I would prefer, but I'm a designer and that makes me a screen snob. So, to be fair, this one is average, good quality, and I generally don't like any laptop screens for design. So it's fine for what it's for, in this case. And for design, I just HDMI into a nice, big, properly calibrated monitor.
Like many others, I have had major headaches with the Wireless Network Adapter in this machine. The one that came with mine is the BCM43142. Certain WiFi connections are fine, but others it doesn't play well with others. Google it, and you'll find tons of other users all having the same "Limited Connectivity" problems. Some claim to have found solutions by updating drivers and changing settings, but none of those solutions worked for me. Rather than changing out the entire card, I bought a USB Network Adapter. It works great, and seems to get a better signal than the one that came installed.
Oh, and the built-in speakers are rubbish, but that's true of all laptops so I wasn't surprised or annoyed. I just plug in some headphones or an external set of desktop speakers and I'm good.
In balance, this laptop is outstanding. If you're like me, you'll see the value where there's value. If you get one with a bunk wireless adapter, go buy a USB one for < $60.

I ordered this to have a mid-level gaming laptop. Since this is being advertised as having an NVIDIA GeForce 735M GPU with 2Gb dedicated graphics memory, I thought this was a good deal. Please note that you can check the video card by right clicking and then seeing if the NVIDIA control option is listed there. I checked mine and sure enough it states the correct video card with 2Gb of dedicated memory. Good stuff.
I did talk to customer service and the Geek Squad about this when I had checked the video card settings through the display adapter route and saw the Intel HD 4000 graphics listed. They didn't know how to resolve the situation at all. I thought the Geek Squad would be at least mildly competent in knowing what was going on, but no, they weren't.
Overall, the computer is great. It's the first laptop I've had with a touchscreen, so that's nice. The screen display is great, sound quality is decent, the speakers are fairly loud. The touchpad doesn't have any keys. It has a one-finger left-click and two-finger right-click function and the whole pad presses down to select an item. The arrow keys are smaller than I am used to, but not too bad for a laptop. It has a 10-key pad which is also nice. The backlit display is handy as well, bright white. So, I guess that could get annoying in some instances.
All-in-all, a good laptop for the price. No issues yet.

I got this one 2 weeks ago. When i looked into it didnmt have the 2gb dedicated video memory, had only 32mb with sharing untill almost 1800. I went to best buy to return it and a geek squad tech looked at it too for about 20 minutes he couldn't find where it can show me the 2gb dedicated video memory even if he found in 3 placed showing him 32mb be was stil trying to convince me that it has the 2 gb dedicated video memory. His logic was: look how nice it is looking and how fast it is working. First of all for not doing anything any computer that has 12gb ddr3 WILL WORK NICE AND FAST!! And then i returned it back and went back on their website and got another one...i just received it and still has 32mb dedicated video memory. Time for me to move on for something else and NOT refurbished!

I was excited to get such high specs in a laptop for such a good price. however after using it for a bit i realized I got a lemon. Aesthetics is a big thing for me. the laptop looks good but has scratches (very big ones) and obvious signs of rough usage. one of the scratches actually looks like the laptop was keyed through with something sharp.
as for graphics this laptop has two cards as ive been told, an intel HD 4000 and an NVIDIA. At base leve usagel the intel operates and at higher levels (for example when gaming) the NVIDIA takes over. so the graphics are just ok, nothing too impressive. the battery dies too fast ! the touchpad doesnt feel great in terms of performance. sometimes i have to click twice or thrice in order for it to work. something i really dont like. i was browsing files on the hard drives and i found that there were files way back from mid 2012. which basically means this laptop is almost 2 years old. so for me to pay $ 850 for a laptop thats 2 years old is a turn off. i didnt think it'd be that old. my idea was that this may have been a a recent return that best buy is selling as a refurbished model. i'm not happy. I may return this item ! i am a huge sony fan and saddened to know that sony is going out of the laptop business but at the same time i am disappointed by what best buy did with this laptop.

The Wi-Fi is about useless, if you are in the line of site, it will give you 5 bars, but put a wall in between and it drops like a rock to 1 or 2. I went into another room with in the line of site, 12-15 ft away and had 5 bars, I remained in the line of site and closed a wooden door to the bathroom and it dropped to 2, sometimes 3 bars. I read an article on X-XXX stating how bad the Wi-Fi was. Nuff-Said.

I am a student and I love this laptop. Awesome. thought of getting the original one but chose this one because of the cheaper price. Refurbished; yet, it came in perfect conditions and has yet to disappoint me. Great graphics nice sound quality, windows 8 can be better but overall its a great laptop for a student or anybody who is looking to spend time with their laptop and have speedy performance!

It worked amazingly for about 2 months. Then it started to have major connection issues, which i can tell are not my providers fault because other people can connect just fine with their laptops. Then about 2 weeks later (around now) my laptop grey screened (keep in mind i haven't really downloaded anything) and i had to completely wipe my laptop. Doing that caused me to lose very important software that i am not sure i can even get back. All in all, i HIGHLY recommend NOT buying this laptop. It was not worth it.

This computer is a great price for the specs that it has. I was a tiny bit worried about buying it because I read the other reviews and they said some bad things about it. But I haven't seen any of the things that they said and i'm extremely bad that i bought this computer.
