The vaio is a good performing laptop with a great picture and plenty of memory. The touch screen works good but you smudge your screen up pretty good. It would have been nice if it at least came with basic setup instructions. Also operating software did not come with it in case you ever had to reinstall it.

After about a year of use, the computer just slowed down so much that it is unusable.

I know when someone rates a product as all excellent and five star, you automatically think "oh they probably just said that to save time" or something of the sort, but honestly, this laptop has been my best purchase yet, and i love shopping! The touchscreen may be awkward at first but its sooo convenient and fun to use (especially with paint!). A great laptop for people going to college since its easy to use, fast, and everything is literally RIGHT THERE for you to use! I fell in love with the laptop once i laid my eyes on it, but i fell head over heels when i started using it. The only thing i would say disappointed me was the camera. i have an old dell laptop that has better camera quality and it really sucks that a laptop this great failed at its camera quality. However, thats only one flaw in this otherwise perfect laptop.

We bought two of these for demo use at conventions. We were looking for attractive, cost effective Ultrabooks with large, high resolution touch screens, and Windows 8. These Sony's fit the bill better than anything else I could find.
Not sure I'm a fan of Windows 8, but that's not a Sony issue...

Overall I am happy with the purchase. I would have liked it more if it had less updates to take care of.

This is a review to help anyone who may decide to purchase this pc, as it's now a clearance item.
I bought this laptop when it was newer to the market in Feb, 2013.
I have a few annoyances and minor complaints, but otherwise this machine has been excellent and reliable since the day I bought it.
I work in IT, I use this computer heavily for at least 8 hours a day and it's never once blue-screened, crashed, rebooted unexpectedly, etc.
Yes, there are times when a program gets hung or I have to force close and application, but they are few and far between and every laptop does this at some point.
I replaced the hard drive with an ssd as soon as I got it and it improves the speed even more (I STRONGLY advise if you do this, keep the original hard drive in its factory condition and store it away. Migrating to an ssd disables the recovery partition on the 24gb ssd and you may need the original drive if your replacement dies. This is a hybrid config and the original drives work together#.
Otherwise, the performance is outstanding for pretty demanding applications. The screen is very bright and great for watching movies #it does have poor viewing angels and a bit of glare, so don't use it in direct sunlight#.
I hate the click pad, but found a workable solution. Go to Synaptics and download the driver from their website. I used v16_3_15_1_C_. Remove the current driver #google it), restart the machine, log in and install the new driver. This gives you added functionality to the click pad such as three and four finger swipe gestures that make Windows 8 easier to navigate. It works wonderfully and I'm pretty satisfied with the clickpad after doing it. Otherwise, the touch screen works great and has never failed me. I use it fairly often.
The battery life is average at best and I'm getting about 3.5 of constant use without streaming movies, etc.
Overall, I'm very happy with this laptop.

The Worse Computer EVER
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I have been buying computers since the mid-1980s and the Sony VAIO is the worse purchase I have ever made. I bought it to replace a desktop computer. I wanted to have touch screen and I thought I might as well get Window's 8 while I was at it. It's been downhill ever since. The touch pad/screen is too sensitive (I have no problem with my other touchscreen devices). I've tried adjusting the sensitivity to no avail. The wi-fi currently isn't working - can't determine why since is was working earlier that very day - without the wifi, I can't get updates. The list goes on. My old Dell laptop with XP gives me more satisfaction than the Sony. Bottom line - I will never buy another Sony computer again.

Not What I Was Hoping

After plenty of research I purchased the SVT15115CXS. Three months after the purchase the machine began to shut itself down without warning, then it refused to boot. Sony would not replace the computer and insisted that I send it in for repair. No consideration was given for my need of the machine. Upon its return it had not been repaired at all. When I called Sony they demanded I send it back to them for repair and also said that they quality checked repairs before they were sent back. Again, no replacement was offered. "We don't replace computers. We repair them," said the agent. I decided to let the Geek Squad have a shot and the computer seems to be repaired. However, the screen still flickers and I have zero confidence in the machine. I clearly should have purchased the Geek Squad Protection Plan.

Big Problems Small Fix

Mainly The One Problem That I Had With This PC Was The Click Pad, It Locks Up And I Had To Bring It To Best Buy Three Times, There Was Also An Issue With The USB Ports Loosening Up So I Was Unable To Keep A Firm Connection. Its Sad Being That Bought New I Paid $1057 Dollars And Theses Are Simple Fixes That Would Have Made It A Great Computer
