Best headset under $100! Buy these if you can!

I am an audiophile since I also am a music artist, I write songs, produce, am involved in studio mixing and mastering just to give you all a quick background on my ears when it comes to sound. I've heard just about every set of headphones and headsets out there. I have tried the below headsets on the PS3, PS4, Wii U, and 3DS XL. First off, I was like you, hesitant to spend $100+ on a gaming headset, but it's WORTH the investment! These are WORTH THE MONEY and will save you lots of headache to just go for these if you're wondering if you should buy them for the PS4 (and other console use#! I've tried the wired Turtle Beach N11's for the Wii U #you can't beat a $60 Turtle Beach headset for $20 while supplies last (discontinued# so if you are dead broke, people will hear you well and vice versa#, which met my standards sound quality wise except for the fact that there is no amp for them, so the sound volume is low for gaming. You can compensate with other devices using their own amps and volume, but this is all about gaming. I also got tired of the short wires restricting my access especially Destiny on PS4 when the doorbell would ring, I have to get up and etc, as well as hitting the mic boom when I would have to scratch my face, touch my eyes, and etc, but could be overlooked if everything else was good. I then make another step up to the wired Turtle Beach P12's. These have an amplifier, so the sound volume was good, and you have separate chat volume, bass boost, and sound volume, and mic mute buttons. Honestly, the N11's sounds just about exactly like these minus the amplifier, so I was happy with the sound, but even with the LONGEST wired cord you can get without an extension, it was becoming a pain depending on several of my tvs. This, the hitting the mic boom while chatting and etc when touching your face, and not being able to get up without disconnecting the cord from the amplifier was becoming annoying. I finally got the Sony Gold Wireless and love everything about it! The only con I would say is I wish these had a little more bass depending on what you use these on #especially for Destiny#, but it's enough bass that you quickly forget about that aspect nonetheless. They are comfortable for hours #tested for 6+ game hours with eyeglasses on), have EXCELLENT battery life, and durable unless you're slamming headphones all the time. Mine has dropped on the floor from the couch or bed several times with no issues. You have to install the free Sony Companion App to get sound presets that work great and can be programmed easily to one or more of the saved preset buttons so you can switch from presets easily while playing if you want to. The simulated surround sound is EXCELLENT for what it is. It's close enough to the real thing, you won't be able to tell the difference without having a true surround sound next to you to compare. Best thing is these are WIRELESS and have great range away #upstairs, downstairs, etc), plus NO mic boom to bump into if you need to touch your face and etc. A reward for reading my review to the bottom....Did I mention Best Buy price matches so you can get these cheaper than $99 from the store? Hint Hint ;-)

I bought these after a friend recommended them for me to use. I have been keeping an eye on them since I bought my ps4. The sound quality is great! I would say the mic is great as well because my friends say they can hear me better than they ever could. I would say the 2 cons is lack of bass. Even using the companion app it still doesn't have the bass I was hoping for. The other con is that it uses a USB for the receiver instead of directly connecting to the ps4 like the controllers do which doesn't make sense, since this is a sony product. So that leaves you with one open USB port. The battery life is great for me. I game a lot and the battery life hasnt been a problem for me. Overall, these headphones are great for anyone looking for these. They are very comfy. Like I said though, there is a lack of bass in them that I wish they had, but I still think they are fantastic headphones.

This is a great headset for the PS4 and PS3. It's wireless which is great, you don't have to worry about a cord being in the way or not long enough to reach you. They are also comfortable to wear. I have had them on for 3 to 4 hours a couple of times and had no issues. The sound quality is excellent. They aren't noise cancelling, but "outside" noise is greatly reduced. I am pretty impressed with the battery life as well, usually lasts about twice as long as the PS4 controller's charge. I haven't used the microphone yet so I can't comment on that. All in all, a great choice for a headset.

Clarity is very nice but falls a little short on the low end (if you want boom try something else) set up is easy and reconnection is quick. Very comfortable and not that heavy. Quality could be better but I think the majority of gaming headphones in this price are about the same. Battery life is great and can take your gaming to another level. The ability to use the headphone app for custom sound for individual games are not even noticeable. So don't get too excited because only disappointment will come when comparing the different sounds.

My whole gaming, and PS4 user experience has changed the second I bought these, got them home and fully charged, put them on, and started to Play the New Assassin's Creed Game - Syndicate, and COD BLK OP'S-3! I was blown away with the absolute Superior Sound Quality, Clarity, and Product Integrity! The Super soft earcups are so comfortable and also feel good, and nice wearing, will provide the comfort to allow for longer gaming and movie sessions/marathons! Coming from using the wired, Turtle Beach Kilo, COD-Black Ops2 Edition headset, by using a PS3 to PS4 adapter, to using this Sony PS4 Gold Wireless Headset was like Night and Day! Although the other's served their purpose, wearing these for audio is like going from an old-school, box tube TV, with No HD, To a 40"inch LED/LCD 1080 HD Widescreen for visuals, when they're compared to any TV's speakers! I Highly Recommend! I love that there's no more cord that would always get in the way, or me tripping over it atleast once per day!

Both my son and my husband have been through a few sets of headphones. Either they didn't hold up or the sound quality was poor, but these are as good as the top of the line headphones. They have soft comfortable ears pads and the sound is great. They are wireless, which is a must if you want to be comfortable while playing. Great product without breaking the bank!

I play games like Assassin's Creed and the Batman Arkham series so hearing the dialogue is important to me. Unfortunately, these happen to be loud games both while folks are talking or just before. I typically play while the kids are asleep so I have to keep it down. These are great headphones except for the low-end. This is the most disappointing (and only negative I have) thing about these headphones. They're comfortable, they're loud enough, and I had no issues using them while playing for an extended period of time. They just don't compare to surround sound. I have a pair of Bluetooth in-ears that sound great and have awesome low-end, but they don't work with PS4. I honestly can't tell what they're referring to with the headphone app and the special setting specifically for Arkham Knight. I know this sounds like a negative review, but they are really comfortable, and sound good. If you're in an environment where you need to keep quiet or there is a lot of noise around you, they're great.

After my second pair of pulse elite broke I went with these and am very happy with them. They are a lot more comfortable than the pulse elite and built more solid. So you don't have to worry if u drop them. I went with the Sony headphones over the other brands like turtle beach, etc..... because of how easy these are to set up and the versatility. All u have to do is download load the app from psn, plug the adapter in, turn headphones on and u are good to go. They are no wires to connect, u don't need wifi. The battery last a long time (but 7 to 8 hours), it charges fast, and u can charge and play. You can also use these with your laptop or anything that has a USB port by just plugging the adapter in. It also come with a cable that u can plug into the controller or an mp3 player. The range is very good. The mic is very clear. No one has ever complained that they can't here me. I can also use these with the ps3 and my vita. If you have any questions just ask

Purchased on Black Friday for $60. Pros: Easy setup Good sound. Highs, mids, and bass are almost audiophile quality. Integrated mic is great for gaming Cons: 1. Very bulky 2. Slightly awkward feeling for over ear headphones, I constantly feel like I have them on wrong. 3. Not very versatile due to size. I would not recommend purchase if intending to use to play music from phone or as a bluetooth headset for phone calls. I purchased them on sale and am very happy with my purchase. If you're looking for a gaming headset these are a great pick. I listened to some of the turtle beach and other headsets and think the sound quality is equivalent to some of the more expensive sets. The integrated mic was a must for me since I have two young kids that tend to be destructive. They don't look good, so if your expecting something to have the comfort and appeal of the beats style headsets these don't come close (but at more than half the price I'm okay with them being a little goofy). They have plenty of cushion on the ears and are moderately light weight. Great for playing games that have foul language that you don't want being broadcast across a living room. The surround sound style is impressive. The bass is a little weak, but comparable to the bass of similarly priced headsets. Battery life seems a little low, I charge after every use. Also the adapter requires the use of one of the two usb ports on my PS4. I will be looking into finding a charger that can hold my two controllers and headphones without cluttering up my entertainment center next.

Wow... WAY better than I would have ever thought. I bought these because they are the only wireless headphones out for the PS4 without having to connect the cable to the controller. Turns out, the 7.1 sound is incredible... and these are WAY cheaper than Turtle Beaches. I have 2 other Turtle Beaches that I love... but as long as you don't need the extra customization... I end up using these the most. They are over the ear and very comfortable. They fodl up to be smaller, but I think if you are not careful, where they fold could break. There is also an app you can download for PS3/PS4 to load 1 customized sound profile for games, etc. Battery life is good... I can use these for 5-7 hours before having to recharge them. There is a plug as well so you can use a wired connection if you battery goes dead. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

The first thing you have to consider is the price, it's cheap at about 100 dollars (compared to other brands turtle beaches, Astros, triton) full surround sound, wireless, there's not much you can ask for. Comfy, fits my big head, sounds amazing, good battery life, etc..

The headset has decent sound quality for the price. However, I did not find the maximum volume level setting to be loud enough. I found that I had to keep the volume almost at maximum to hear game audio well and I do not have bad ears. I normally listen to music at relatively low levels with my phone or computer. I also do not like how the game/chat audio are not adjusted separately. The balance of both is controlled by one setting adjustment. I also tried the Turtle Beach Stealth 500p headset and I liked them much better. For me they were more comfortable, sounded better, superior battery life, could adjust game and chat volume with separate knobs and the sorround emulation was much more convincing and immersive. They also were able to achieve much louder volumes if desired than the sony gold headset. Setup is a little more difficult (requires connecting optical cable to usb receiver) but they are definitely worth it.

The Sony Gold Wireless Headset is the best headset in its class. For under $100 you get a wireless headset with clear game audio, good battery life, and simulated surround sound. It's comfotable to wear for extended periods, and has adjustable height, which even makes it possible to use with a pair of 3D glasses. On the downside, the Bass leaves a little to be desired, and sometimes I wish that it would go a little louder. Unless you're a hardcore audiophile, I highly recommend it.

Sound is quite nice - I think I can make it better however and I need to keep tinkering with the audio profiles. The ability to adjust EQ profiles is nice, and even download some that are tweaked by some developers themselves is cool - but it is a tad bit of a pain to upload those audio profiles to the headset (you need to hook it up via USB). Would be great if the settings could be updated wirelessly. I also would have liked more than a 3-band EQ, but regardless, it sounds great. I think the biggest benefit, and possibly the selling factor over other headsets is that being a Sony product, it integrates immensely well with the PS4 interface (as it rightfully should). When you connect the device, you get notifications under your login for not only your controller battery, but headset battery as well. Plus you'll get on-screen feedback for settings changes such as volume adjustments, mic mute/unmute, etc. It's nice to have that visual feedback so you're not left guessing your settings since you can't see the controls otherwise.

I'm an audiophile. I own an absurd amount of headphones. I own at least 4 for gaming specifically. This headset replaced them all regarding Playstation gaming. Just plug in a USB adapter and done! The headset is Bluetooth and has great range. The surround effect works great and has decent bass response. The volume controls on the set works fine. Importantly, they are comfortable and light. No batteries needed. A recharge cable comes with it. Love them! This is a must have

Great sound, easy to use buttons on the side, comfortable ear pieces, charges last a while. Only problems are that I bought my bf a set a little over a year ago and it broke at the hinge recently trying to fold them up. And he wasn't doing it rough or anything. Returned and got a new set (thank you extended coverage). With the new set sometimes the mic cuts out when he's using it on PC (not PS4). It doesn't happen frequently but still annoying. Same day we brought in the first busted one, I bought myself a set as well and the mic cuts out too. At least we got the 2 year coverage with Geekaquad since we may bring them back if this keeps happening. Overall good headset but I wish this new generation of the headsets were as good as the first generation. Even with breaking at least it never cut out.
