This is extremely intuitive and easy to use. I plugged it in ,It downloaded location quickly then asked for my home address and phone #the touchscreen is very sensitive. Seems very accurate to within a few feet voice commands are clear and accurate ,if you change your course it quickly recalculates a new course for you. You must download the software to run the firmware update if needed from the website mentioned in the manual ,this should have been included on a cd.

I LOVE THIS GPS I HAVE HAD A TOM TOM AND I HATED IT IT WAS ALWAYS CONFUSED ON WHERE I WAS LIKE THE ROAD DIDNT EXIST.THIS TELLS YOU WHAT STREET TO TURN ON ITS RIGHT ON UPDATING ITSELF IN SECONDS AND SO EASY TO USE.AND WHAT A GREAT PRICE..I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE!!! MY FIRST TIME WRITING A REVIEW,,I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW HOW GOOD THIS ITEM IS,,,,CAUSE I KNOW I RELY ON A REVIEW!!! BUY IT YOU WONT REGRET IT.

Bought this unit for $89.99 with a $10.00 free gift certificate which makes this a fantastic basic GPS. To seal the deal for me was the text to speech which you will not find on any GPS near this price range. Here's some things I like about the U-44: The screen is very well done. The unit is compact and well made. New maps and firmware that just came out to make the unit current. The graphical display is pleasing to the eye and better than most of the more higher priced units I've seen. The graphical display splits in half and shows detailed turning options which is fantastic. Branded logo icons for stores, resturants and gas stations. It shows you how fast you are going and informs the user of merging traffic with logo icons. I can buy 2 of these to one Garmin and be just as happy if not happier with the unit. If you don't have a GPS and can't see spending alot of money the Sony is a no brainer.

This is my first purchase of a GPS, and I love it. I installed it in the Best Buy parking lot and took me all of 10 min. and most of that time was getting it out of the package. I didn't even have to use the user manual. I haven't had a chance to use it on long trips yet, but have been trying it out around Tulsa and it has never lost the signal, and has always been accurate. I have used a Garmin in the past and I like the Sony much better.

I love the compact size and the windshield mount is compact so it makes it easy to store. The navigation is great and I've yet to encountered any problems with directions. When I first got it I uploaded the latest updates from the website which didn't take any time at all. This is a great system for someone that wants a compact, easy to use system that gets you where you want to go. I also love the little brand icons for the food, gas, and shopping places.

For those who missed the deal, this was a $30 gps for a short time while supplies lasted. For $30 this gps cannot be beat, even for the $89.99 the price cannot be beat. If you are look for a basic gps this is what you want. The only thing anyone could complain about is a lack of features, which, when you are told it is a basic gps, should not be a problem. It is a gps and that is about it, a picture viewer is available but only if you really want to do that with your gps. It also has a fairly good TTS (Text to Speech) program which you can easily edit to say anything you want at any time using internet programs. (Not recommended unless you know what you are doing.) Very easily finds locations surrounding points of interest and is fairly accurate on positions once updated the the 12/18/08 map. Overall if you want a gps for the gps feature, this is a great deal and is highly recommended. At $89.99, and with some smart shopping this product can be a very affordable and nice addition to any household.

this is one of the best basic gps units, and its sony, price great $79.99 plus a $10 gift card, totally happy with this unit, i use the mio Moov 200 before this unit, but sony have this one for $20 less and plus $10 less, well no need for brain at this price "SONY LIKE NO OTHERS"

Reasonably priced and great text-to-speech feature make it an outstanding buy at BestBuy. I bought it today and it took just about couple of minutes to get started. Occasionally, the street names are not pronounced clearly but can still be understood.

Great gps system, the sony nav-u44 is very easy to use, has a loud speaker and always accurate, i got it when it was on sale for only $89...... great gps system for the price!!!!!!

This product is a real bargain at $79.99 and includes the text to speech. The firmware update is on Sony's website, very easy to download and install. Just remember when you download the file, place the file in it's own folder before you use Sony's updater to install the file. The GPS has all the features needed in a simple GPS, no bluetooth, no traffic updates, no cheapest gas price. I hope Sony will offer updates when needed. If you can find this item, buy it. I have had this product for about 20 days and do not regret this purchase what so ever.

I bought this at BestBuy because I had gift cards to use. I researched the Garmin and Magellan, but took a chance on the Sony because of the name. I am not disappointed. I just used it in Florida and had good luck with it. It would be nice to be able to avoid toll roads (they are plentiful in Fl) Otherwise it's been great.

Best unit for the sale price of 89.00. Options for the entry level units are limited but this one has everything you could want and the maps are on point. My neighborhood was built a few months ago and the streets are showing up which is more than I can say for the Tom Tom.

The best thing I've ever spent money on. Great quality product for a very good price. After all, it's a Sony. I love it. Go ahead and spend the money. You will never regret it.

I like Sony for the brand and quality of the product. This GPS is good for the price. It will serve you the purpose of going from one point to other. Although the only problem i encountered so far is, it is not able to detect Costco and Sams Club near by my location. It does show other Costcos/Samsclub but again not near my residence and they exists there for more than 5 years. I do not know why it does that. Did any body have this problem?
