The Song High Power XB60 is hands down one of the best quality speakers out there. Sony delivers yet again. I was told by a Best Buy associate to get a Sony and now I can see why. First of all, I’m not sure why there are even bad reviews at all. The sound quality is absolutely amazing and the bass is strong but does not overpower the music. Even with the volume on full blast (which would be excessive in my opinion) the sound quality is still superior. The battery life is 14 hours and it takes about 4 hours to fully charge it back to 100% from zero battery. The light show is also really aesthetically pleasing with the nice colors and you can shut off the feature with a button on the unit. You can also lay the speaker on its side and the quality is still good. I would say if you are debating between the JBL equivalent or this speaker, I would get this one instead because the quality is better and it’s so user friendly. I wish I could have kept this speaker for myself because I fell in love with it, but I suppose that’s what makes it a great gift!

If you don't want to read one of the really long reviews, here's a simple one for you. In general it sounds good as it should for the price. It's nice to bring to a tailgate event or to a friend's house party that needs a nice speaker. It's not perfect but it gets the job done. In my opinion it sounds better than a Beats Pill or any other portable speaker I've listened to. The main gripe is the strain of the bass. It struggles and it's not as 'clean' as it could be.

Good speaker for a party (moderately sized one of course) its loud good clean bass I love it the battery is good but i just plugged it up the first time I used it to charge it but even unplugged its still same output just it won't last as long at higher volume but but everything else I used was great the Bluetooth worked good decent range...I only gave it a 4 rating because I bought another speaker like this one just a model down XB5 an I couldn't connect them together so that was a negative for me they all have to be the same model to connect together (just fyi) but everything else is great

We purchased this speaker after several previous ones weren't up to the task of sounding great while in a gymnasium. It's primarily used for cheer competitions, and does a fantastic job in large spaces or outdoors. One team always brings their Peavey setup that includes 2 satellite speakers, a mixer and amplifier. It's a lot to lug around but has been a requirement if we wanted good sound in past competitions. Not anymore. This Sony speaker is louder than we'll ever need and most importantly, portable. Did I mention it has no issues switching between music and microphone? Well, it doesn't. We can use bluetooth hookup through a phone or computer or use a wired connection through a 3.5mm headphone jack. No issues with either. We've yet to run out of battery even after an 8 hour competition at high volumes. Or, plug it in and don't worry about the battery, the option is there. Lastly, it's taken plenty of spills out of a car. It's got a few scuff marks but no broken plastics or dented grille, and still works flawlessly. If I had to be critical and make a subjective complaint, it's that the lights are cheesy. It's just more stuff that can go wrong, but at least you have the option of turning them off. Buy it, you won't regret it.

Really surprised by the sound quality this speaker has! The bass is unbelievable! Not too bulky and not too heavy. Amazing lights that you can control with the Sony Music Apps with cool DJ effects. Definitely would recommend to ANYONE!

Speaker is very easy to use. Can connect to any device very easily. It’s loud. Plus I love the bass mode on the speaker. Charges fast and it lasts a pretty good decent amount of time Before needed to be charge again.

Light, portable, and decent battery life. Party chain hasn't work that well for me, at least with my TV. Sound cuts in and out and noticeably out of sync at times. Otherwise good bass and great sound.

The sound quality and bass are great. I’m currently using it for home theater. It doesn’t matter I play on it the sound comes out great. It has also brought to life background sounds/music that I wasn’t even aware of. I can use it for party’s or put it in the back of my car for an instant sound system. It has a 14 hour battery life so I never have to worry about power.

My JBL Charge broke so I traded in for the Sony. Projects good sound but for the size it should push out more volume than expected. The Sony has a bass button and you can hear a slight difference when activated. It projects a light show around the body of the speaker which IMO is kind of annoying (the light projection on the JBL Pulse is much more appeasing to the eye). You can turn it off of course. Pretty light weight for its size and I use this for club volleyball practices in full size gyms (good sound but again, for its size I thought it would have more output) as well as softball tournaments (music for the dugout). Sony should’ve added wheels and a luggage handle for easier transportation. Carrying by hand is okay but I’m always on the go and I appreciate anything to make transportation easier. I have the protection plan through BB and when the speaker goes out I’ll switch back to one of the JBL portables. It’s a good product if you’re going to keep it stationary, just not practical for offsites.

IMO, here's what you really need to know... ● It's a fancy, battery powered, bluetooth enabled, portable speaker ● Imagine a bigger, better quality Sony boom-box (to use old school vernacular) that sounds good, not great ● Yes there is a bass boost button. Yes it boosts the bass - a little ● It has pretty cool lighting features, with different cycles to choose from - none of which actually "beat" to the music (seems silly) ● While cool, the lights can be annoying because (for some reason) they are hard to turn OFF while the speaker is powered down but charging (goes into demo mode or something) ● It has an app, actually 2 apps, that allow you to access the deeper functions of the speaker like the lighting controls, custom EQ settings, and "DJ" features (???) ● Yes there is latency from the bluetooth connection, but its really not that big of a deal ● Using my older iPhone 7, the speaker connected on the first try, and connects every time without issue (though the bluetooth connection does get shaky as the battery levels go down on either device) ● The speaker has RCA inputs AND outputs on the back, as well as a 1/4" line input (mic / instrument) ● You will not be impressed by the bass response - I cannot even find frequency response chart for this speaker - in fact you will probably not be impressed at all by the "sonic character" of this speaker - especially if you've ever heard smaller Bose units ● Physically it feels solid, and has nice little rubber feet, but you wont be carrying this thing around much - it's bulky (even this smaller model) and not comfortable to carry - plus, the power button is exactly where you're thumb rests when carrying the speaker in the right-hand (annoying) ● But it does work, it connects, it gets pretty loud, it looks cool, it's battery powered, and (as a Sony) hopefully it will continue working for years to come

I have used this for over a year and it is loud! The max volume is limited however when used without being plugged into a power source. The bass boost function is pretty good but don’t expect subwoofer like bass. It just adds fullness to the sound. The sound quality is good bu not excellent but this is really just a party speaker and not an audiophile speaker. Durability is descent but the finish scratches easily. In conclusion I would recommend and buy again!

I love this speaker. It has great sound. I had considered getting the XB90. I took some time comparing the differences between the different Sony speakers. The XB90 is a little larger than this speaker. In the end I decided to purchase this speaker. It is easy to carry around and put it in that perfect spot. I purchased it at a great price. It was easy to connect to my phone via Bluetooth. I downloaded the recommended Apps and I am able to DJ a party. The light show is amazing also. I would recommend this speaker to anyone.

Purchased for 15 year old son. It is perfect for his intended use ... listening to music his parents can’t stand at high volume levels. The built in rechargeable battery is great and separates it from some of the other Sony models. Some reviews I read panned the unit’s sound quality. If you are an audiophile you will probably not like any of the Bluetooth speakers currently on the market. We have numerous other Bluetooth speakers around the house (Bose, JBL, Sonos, Sony, etc.) and this units sound quality is comparable. This one definitely is pushing more watts ... and when you are 15 that’s what it is all about. I will definitely borrow it for tailgating. So far seems to be a good overall value for the $199 sale price.

This speaker will make your party so much better if you all love music! this is loud and has lights. I bought it for work and unfortunately had to take it home after about 2 weeks because it "didn't fit". I mean it is a big speaker and the battery is super nice! Don't forget you can buy 2 of these bad boys and use them as a pair and make it twice as loud.

I bought two of these speakers and they are completely wireless unless you want to wire them but they will run 14 hours on a charge (so it says) . I have not tried them out for that long but they work quite well for what I want them for. I don't care for the light show that they produce but it can be shut off. These speakers are equipped with bluetooth (which is how I use them. Each speaker has its own amplifier and battery & are charged overnight from a 115 VAC cord. The speakers do chain together via bluetooth and are able to chain up to 9 speakers. (so the book says) Now the only drawback that I have had so far is chaining the two speakers together. It takes me several tries but that might just be me. I'll have to go back and read the manual carefully to see if I am doing it correctly. I play music over them via bluetooth from my apple IPAD and just the two speakers fill a room nicely. If I am able to chain them together without a problem in the future I plan on buying two more. Put them in all 4 corners of a large party room & you have surround sound. Oh I almost forgot, Each speaker has a 1/4" microphone plug with volume knob on them.

This this awesome. The lights are cool, the sound is great, (especially the bass) It's great for inside or out by the campfire, on the pontoon, etc. Easy to connect once I figured out which button to hold down... no issues with battery life and seems to charge back up pretty quickly. Highly reccommended.

This speaker sounds great, has a hefty amount of bass, and is super loud. It can connect to other Sony speakers and play the same thing at once as well. I got it on Black Friday at a sale price so the value was more than worth it for me, but I would still think it was worth the cost even at full price. The only downside is that to get the most out of the speaker’s features, it wants you to download two apps which are a bit confusing to work. Also sometimes it’s difficult to connect via Bluetooth and I had a situation once where I was connected to the speaker playing music off of my phone and my fiancé had previously been connected from the last time we had used it and when she played a video from her phone it stopped the music and played through the speaker so we were both connected to it at the same time which was kind of confusing. But if you can get over the confusing aspect of the technology and interface of the apps, then I would definitely say that it’s a worthwhile purchase.
