I have to say, when I got this thing, I was a little skeptical about how it would sound. When I took it out of the box it felt like a solid and well built product. You have the speakers on each side and a stiff band in the middle that can be bent a little so you can mold it to the exact shape you need to have it sit comfortably around your neck.
Pairing it is as easy as any other Bluetooth device. Just put it into pairing mode and then you can go into your TV settings and pair it with your TV. You could also pair this with a phone or something like that as well. The only problem around this step that I had is that the deice is black, the buttons are black, and the text above the buttons telling you that the buttons functions are were also in black. For someone a little older like myself without the greatest eyesight I had to get out a flashlight and reader glasses to be able to read what each of the buttons do. I found myself doing this multiple times till I eventually remembered where the buttons were and what their functions are. Would be nicer if the text was in white and at least an outline if the button in white so it would be easier to see and read. I know that’s a minor gripe, but it was definitely an annoyance to me.
Once I got it turned on and paired, I just put on a TV show to hear what these sounded like. I have to say, the first time I heard these, I was pretty blown away at how good they sounded! I wasn’t expecting the kind of full sound and rich bass out of such a small unit. It literally sounded like you had a high-end sound bar strapped to your head! It also said that these were Dolby Atmos capable as well. So I fired yup an action movie in atmos and I was blown away yet again. The sound was literally encompassing the space all around my head. I was hearing things above me, behind me, on each side. The sound was coming from everywhere! For TV and movies, this is an amazing device!
Next, I put on some music. I know that regular sound bars have a hard time playing regular music and having it sound amazing, and this was no different. It sounded good, but just not the same as having a full stereo system. Id compare it to the sound quality of a mid-range set of earbuds when it comes to listening to music.
This also has a microphone in it so you can connect it to your phone for calling, or using it while you are gaming as well. I tried it with a phone call and while I couldn’t hear how I sounded, the person I was talking to said my voice was coming across crystal clear and sounded great.
They kind of bill these as a way to quietly watch TV and get that full sound without disturbing others. But anyone around you will definitely be able to hear what is coming through the speakers. Its not blaring loud, but you wouldn’t be able to have a private phone conversation with other people in the room.
One other caveat I have to mention is that these do not move when you move your head. So if you turn your head slightly to one side or the other, you will get louder sound out of one ear. This might also be a problem if you sit off to the side of your TV regularly and have your head turned slightly. Its not a huge issue, but something I wanted to mention.
Overall, I found these very comfortable to wear. After a few minutes you don’t even feel them on. I had no problem watching hours of TV and having them remain comfortable. The sound quality, you really have to hear to believe, it is fantastic for what these are! I would highly recommend these for anyone looking for a quieter way to watch TV without annoying those around you too much (especially at night time) or even for someone who is a little hard of hearing, these would also be great for. They are also better than ear buds or headphones because you are still able to hear everything that is going on around you, which is another plus! I would say, give them a try and i'm sure you will be as amazed by the sound as I was!

These are alternative to headphones with some advantages:
There is no weight on my head and ears
Much better aware of surroundings
Sound is rich: clear, nuanced and with good bass.
The sound is very directional: When wearing there, I can hear the sound from these very clearly, but a short distance away, it's sound is much more faint.
There is no privacy like a headphone however.
The speakers rest around the neck and have light padding on the back. There is some weight to them so will definitely notice them at fist but can get used to it quickly.
The buttons and ports are covered so it can withstand getting splashed.
Oh the exterior right side there is an USB-C port that's used for charging, and also comes with a special USB-C to 3.5mm analog audio. However it does not support USB audio. It does not work while being charged.
On the inside, left side there are the volume and play/pause buttons (double and triple clicks change songs). The left side has the power/pairing button and mic off button. The mic off only works when the phone or computer request listening on the microphone. When off, a small amber light comes off and a reminder is played every few seconds. The reminder is not configurable. I used it on several meetings and phone calls and it works great. People can hear me just fine.
The band around the neck is rubberized and malleable to it's easy to adjust.
Although this is a speaker, not a headphone, it's configurable when paired to a phone using the Sony Headphones Connect app.
It can connect to two devices simultaneously (Like a phone and computer or phone and TV) via Bluetooth, and the app has settings for controlling the Bluetooth connections as well as equalizer and other settings.
Spatial audio: This did not work for me. On the phone, it requires an additional app '360 Reality Audio' which requires an additional subscription, for some reason, so it's a no for me. Then IO tried to connect to a recent Bravia Google TV and It works as a stereo speaker, no other surround audio settings available.
It connected to the TV using the SBC codec, and it connects to my iPhone and laptop using the AAC codec (This is shown on the Headphones app).
The multipoint connection works well. If listening to music on the laptop, and a call comes in, it pauses the audio on the computer when I take the call, and resumes it afterwards.
Battery is good, It goes down about 20% each day or so I've used it for several hours.
I really like the sound of these speakers

I've tried a few different Neckband speakers over the past three or four years and have had mixed feelings on them. This BRAVIA Theater U Neckband speaker is one that actually delivers in a big way.
The sound quality has a feel.of being all around your head. It's a.very immersive sound and these will get fairly loud. Everything is nice and clear and there is a decent amount of bass considering the design of this isn't going to lend itself to really deep bass. Just listening to Bluetooth music sounds impressive and everybody I have let try these out have mentioned how impressed they are by the immersive.sound.
I also tried these wired with my Playstation t and even that was very cool. In games where you have sounds around you like shooter games, you can actually tell where the sound is coming from, like to the side or behind you. I was quite impressed with how these allowed such pinpoint placement where the sounds were coming from.
So overall I'm very pleased with the Bravia Theater U. I don't have a Sony BRAVIA TV, but if you have one that supports this speaker there is the option for spatial audio.

This wearable TV speaker is very unique. Sometimes, you just want watch TV or movies blasting full volume but that won't be possible with your regular speakers. This fixes that for you. If you're wondering what makes this different from earphones or headphones, this goes around your next which means there is no head fatigue related to wearing headphones or if you don't like earbuds, this prevents that too.
The sound quality is actually really good. This supports LDAC which is a high quality Bluetooth streaming option. I cannot say that this has a strong bumping bass when listening to music or watching movies, but this has enough to not sound like a tin can.
The connection is quick and simple via Bluetooth, but there is also a USB-C port for charging (cable provided) and Sony does provide you with a USB-C to AUX cable so this can be used for other platforms without Bluetooth.
This has a few buttons on it which are simple to use. Power button, volume buttons, media button. The best part about this is that it is very simple to set up straight out of the box like your usual headphones.

Outstanding. As one who wears hearing aides, finally able to control the quality of TV sound without blowing-out others in the room. And, when others retire to bed, I am able to watch and hear programs without impacting those sleeping.
We are thrilled to hear that the BRAVIA Theater U has transformed your viewing experience! It is wonderful to know the personalized sound quality allows you to enjoy your programs clearly without disturbing others in the room.
Thanks for choosing Sony.
Best regards, Eliab

Falling Short on Bass / Annoying Others Nearby

Here is my review of the Sony - HTAN7 BRAVIA Theater U upon which I rate 3 out of 5 stars.
Out of the box the device comes at the forefront in its packaging with the reference guide and accessory cables located beneath the first layer. As for the cables, you get one USB-A to USB-C charging cable and one audio cable for connecting your PC or game console. To get started, fully charge the device and while doing so, download the Sony Headphones Connect App. This app will allow you to take pictures of your external ear geometry to customize your sound experience. The app also has equalizer settings for both custom and presets.
As for listening to music, it is highly recommended to utilize the Amazon Music app to access music encoded as ULTRA HD w/Dolby ATMOS. From here you can listen to music in 360 Spatial Sound. My go-to is Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon". While I listened to this album, there were some immediate discoveries which I will list. Sound needs to be turned up to 3/4th to full volume to totally surround yourself in music. At lower volumes you just don't get the envelopment of sound. Also at this loud volume, it wreaks havoc with anyone sitting in the same room let alone sitting next to you, and a 1-star reduction in its rating. If you are looking to listen to music, you may find yourself sitting in a room alone or using a much lower volume than you prefer and at the same time sacrifice the 360 spatial sounds. Even though there was much clarity and spatial surround sound, there was the lack of bass, a big miss for me, and a 1-star reduction in its rating. Sony probably would need to add two additional speakers to capture the base but not sure if this would cause a displeasing bass thump or vibration on one's neck. As for listening to TV, I paired it to my Sony 85" Bravia XR X95K via Bluetooth. The sound of the TV in this device was really not much different than listening to music so I see no real need to provide further information. The experience in sound quality and lack of bass was still the same.
So, in my summary of this product, it isn't a replacement of a good surround sound system or good headphones or earbuds. I'm not quite sure anyone will really have the, "I've got to have this" type of moment. When things fall short of annoying others sitting in a room while I watch TV or listen to music, I have to think of other reasons why one may like this product outside of me. If you don't like wearing headphones or want to have the ability to hear others around you, you may like this product.
In closing, having a horseshoe shaped device priced at $299.99 around your neck needs to produce in my opinion, a WOW moment/factor. I just wish it did, but Sony left me disappointed. I hope you enjoyed reading my review and it helped you in your purchasing decision.
