I have no complaints about this flash thus far. I have used it a few times and have not run into any problems yet. I did read some negative reviews about this flash elsewhere about it having an issue with overheating. However, I think Sony addressed this issue with a flash firmware update that is now on these newer flashes. I have had no issues with the unit overheating. The new multi interface shoe on newer Sony Alpha cameras has created quite a problem trying to find flash systems that support High Speed Sync. This flash works really well on all of the new E-mount camera systems. My main reason for purchase was a HSS solution for my A7r and A6000 cameras. This flash can act as a commander to control several other HVLF60M flashes in HSS. It can also be controlled by other Sony flashes such as the HVLF32M and HVLF20M. All in all, this flash works well and is very easy to setup right out of the box. If I had to complain about one thing at this point it would be the lack of RF control not being built into the flash. I would really like Sony to incorporate an RF system in a version 2 of this flash such as the likes incorporated into Canon’s 600EX-RT flash.

I purchased this flash for my wife for her job. This flash is amazing and works so well with our Sony A7II. The flash has several different settings and allows us to utilize our camera in any light setting. It is pricey but well worth it.

Consistently great flash coverage and exposures are consistent as well. Works well with my favorite modifier and I love how Sony has created a rotator effect that doesn't require that you stop and push buttons before you can get your flash oriented properly. This is a larger flash due to the 4 AA batteries, but it will recycle faster and keep going longer, both as a flash and as an onboard video light.

I purchased this flash as part of an introductory package sale on the Sony A7. If it had not been on sale, I might have overlooked it. After becoming familiar with this flash, I am really glad that I did not pass it up. This flash is first-class in build and in function. At first, I was put off by its large size. But then I read the instruction manual for the flash, and I was impressed. It articulates on two different hinges, so that you can use the flash with the camera held horizontally or vertically, or bounce the flash off the ceiling or a wall. It has a built-in pull-out diffuser, and a small built-in pull-out white bounce card. It has a built-in LED light for video and as a modelling light. There is a color-correcting filter for the video light. The flash intensity can be diminished for fill light, among other custom settings. The user interface works well. It uses four AA size batteries. Mounted on top of the A7, with 2/3 f-stop decrease in output, the flash does perfect lighting for fast, candid portraits. It comes with a soft case that has a loop that you can put a belt through, allowing the flash to be carried on your waist. Now that I have become more familiar with the flash, I really like it, and manage to find the room to take it with me if I think I might use it. The flash might be large, but it works so well that it is worth taking along.

After switching from Canon to a Sony A7Rii, I needed to opt for a new flash too. I had the top of the line Canon flash prior to making the switch. The Sony model is better... it took a little getting used to as it's feature menu and the way the unit articulates. It has great power and features. I've found the flash to have more power than the speedlight and fires rapidly. It definitely will chew through batteries under heavy use, as every powerful flash will do. The only issue I have with the flash unit itself is the connection point to the camera. My unit is going to have to be repaired as the lock will not hold the flash on my camera anymore after less than a year of use. My Flash was purchased with the additional protection offered through Best Buy so I'm covered. I would definitely recommend the flash but also buy the protection plan as there is a high likelihood that your going to need it if you use the flash much. It would definitely be a 5 star product if it was built with a little more durability.

The Sony HVL f60M is very powerful, adjustable and well made. The built in led light panel helps with focusing in low light and can be used to shoot video at close proximity.

I bought this for my Sony a7II. Works great but I wish the battery life would be longer.

This flash is the better of the two flashes that they have for this camera. It is costly but worth every penny. I had a great flash with my previous Sony camera, but it did not work with the new camera. This flash replaces that flash. It will light up a hall. That makes it great.

After coming from the Nikon flash systems which many including myself held at a very high level I was almost ready for a bit of a disappointment. I am happy to say this isn't the case. These flashes are amazing. They're fast, easy to use and have been easy on the batteries. Excellent job Sony!

This is by far the best flash unit you can purchase for your Sony Camera! I do not know how I did without it!
