Sound quality is fine. Mic is absolutely garbage. The audio balance feature hardly works unless you unplug and plug the usb dongle in every time you want to use the game/chat buttons. All of this has been tested on PS5, no PC usage. Extremely overpriced for poor performance. Battery life is the only good thing about this headset.

For anyone wondering why you would want a wireless headset with a USB dongle, the 2.4 ghz frequency travels much further than a Bluetooth signal. I am able to join a meeting on my PC and walk anywhere in my house or back yard and still have a clear reception without static. Generally speaking a Bluetooth connection will get you around 30-40 feet away from the source. These headphones are quite light, comfortable and the mic is just the right level of sensitive to pick up a whisper but not a breath. The sound is crystal clear and very accurate to real life sound for a voice or other audio delicacies you may devour. The headset I received was actually white and not the black in the description. It perfectly matches the PlayStation 5 in aesthetics. Padding is around the ear cuffs and at the top of the head band. The ear cuffs rotate far enough the unit can lay flat in a bag or a drawer. There is a quick switch to flip between Game and Chat. Also there is a switch on the dongle to go from PC to PS5. Both options work equally well The left ear piece has the volume control and mic with jacks for USB type C and audio input. This headset will work with no power if it is plugged in with the audio cable. The right ear piece also homes the power and chat/game buttons. It makes it easy to know the audio controls are on the left. The audio cable can also be plugged into the controller you may use, as an example a PS5 controller, as long as it has an audio out jack. Not that this is advertised, but the headset also works with my android phone and ChromeOS as long as I use an adapter with the dongle on my phone. Overall this is a great and versatile headset. The lack of Bluetooth is actually a bonus to me. Included are the audio AUX cable, a USB to USB type C cable and various manuals.

Hi Buddy, thank you for sharing your feedback about the WHG500. We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing issues with the sound quality. The sound being too muffled and flat is certainly not the experience we aim to provide. Here are a few suggestions that might help improve the sound quality of your WHG500:

      1. Adjust Audio Settings: Check if adjusting the audio settings on your device can enhance the sound quality. Try different sound modes or equalizer settings to find the one that best suits your preference.

      2. Update Firmware: Ensure that your WHG500's firmware is up-to-date, as updates can sometimes include improvements to sound performance.

      3. Check Connections: If you are using any external devices, make sure all cables are firmly connected and of good quality. Loose or poor-quality cables can affect audio performance.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, there may be a specific problem with your unit. Please contact us at socialsupport@am.sony.com, providing your name, username, model number, a description of the issue, and your telephone number.

We appreciate your feedback and are committed to ensuring you have a positive experience with our products.

      Thank you for choosing Sony.

With this year’s iteration of the H5 I feel Sony made some decent improvements. This headset has comfort going for it. The H5 is lightweight which is great for extended gaming sessions. The weight makes a huge difference with how comfortable a headset can be, a lot of people don’t think of this at get time as generally most headsets don’t feel heavy initially but after a couple of hours you can really start to notice. With these I had no such issue. The cups are also extremely comfortable and I didn’t find they made my ears hot or create any sweat. For me Sony nailed the comfort aspect, thigh I will note if you have a larger head they keep feel a tad tight for a few days. These are not Bluetooth and do require a 2.4ghz dongle that comes with the headset. People may frown at this but it’s actually better as you get a better distance reception so if you were hoping to pair these with a phone then you’re out of luck. Sound wise these are decent. Spoken word is crystal clear and ambient noises in games are picked up quite well. The lows are not as deep as I would like but that’s all personal preference. You can also use these on the PC and download Sonys software but I’ve only used them on my PS5. Overall these are a good companion for your PS5 and that’s about it, they’re made for gaming and use a dongle for wireless connection so be aware of that before diving in hoping for an all in one solotion

The Sony Inzone H5 Wireless headset is my second Sony gaming headset and an improvement from the H3 that I previously reviewed thanks to the wireless connection capability. The Inzone H5 a pretty serious improvement from other gaming headsets that I've used in that it is pretty lightweight and the padding both on the earcups and the headband are extremely soft. The comfort makes a big difference when using the Inzone H5 for long gaming sessions (or like I did today, for an 8 hour training class at work). One change from the previous Inzone model is the H5 is not "discord certified" like the H3 was. I found that feature was kind of neat to see in the Discord app but didn't really seem to improve sound quality at all. The H5 kind of proves that theory as my friends still thought the mic sounded very good for a gaming headset and the sound quality of other people talking in chat was very good. You can also set up a chat/gaming audio balance where your voice comms use the "headset" channel while your actual gaming sounds come through the "headsphones" channel, allowing you to set a balance through the Sony Inzone app so it doesn't always sound like the sounds are competing with each other. As for day to day usage, the Inzone H5 seems easy to live with. Sony advertises the battery life as 28 hours. I haven't been able to get 28 hours of gaming in to comment on this fully, but I will say that I have been able to use them for about a week now without charging them except for when I plugged them in right out of the box. I also found the automatic sleep to be pretty effective. The button placement is kind of strange and took some getting used to (hard to explain, and YMMV on this), but the buttons all feel sturdy and are easy to click once your hands find them. The mic does have a flip-to-mute capability which is great for my use case (mixed gaming and professional use). Overall, this is a great headset that is among the best I've used with my PC. This will be highly recommended for my friends and family during the holiday season.

The Sony InZone H5 is a good gaming headset, but not much more. It matches the PS5 design perfectly, as with the rest of the InZone line, and is compatible with both PC and PS5 via a wireless 2.4g USB dongle or wired USB-C connection. The wireless connection shows no sign of latency, so you can count on hearing those footsteps in time and the overall sound seems tuned for clarity and detail. Paired with Sony’s unique 360 spatial sound mode the H5 offers an open soundstage with good imaging. Running through busy parts of Dogtown in CyberPunk 2077, I could “feel” the dialogue move beside and behind me as I worked through the crowd. I feel like Sony’s 360 spatial sound is better for games, because it’s immersive in that I feel like I’m in the middle of the action, whereas spatial audio for movies surrounds you but still has a front center stage. In general, voices sound clear and there’s a good balance of detail, but the bass falls flat. There’s no “oomph” or presence in the low end, which is fine for competitive gaming, but leaves a lot to desire while watching movies or listening to music. It’s probably safer for my ears, but I need to feel my bass. The InZone Hub app offers an EQ for audio tuning, but it doesn’t seem to do much for the low end. It also allows you to turn on/off the 360 spatial sound and adjust the microphone settings. Speaking of which… The fixed boom microphone features AI noise reduction and seems to sound clean. I haven’t spent much time listening to myself, but I haven’t heard any complaints from teammates either. I love that the mic automatically mutes when it flips up. If you’re known for marathon gaming sessions, you’re in luck with the 28 hour battery life and ability to use it while charging. Just a simple USB-C cable is all you need, but it’ll allegedly give you 3 hours of play time with just 10 minutes of charging if you must be wireless. Overall, the InZone H5 is a good gaming headset but lackluster for music and movies. The 360 spatial sound is immersive and the H5 does a great job with voice clarity and detail, but the bass lacks “oomph”. However, the imaging is good and the noise reduction mic helps you communicate clearly with teammates. The H5 is a good choice if you do a lot of competitive gaming and tournaments. It’s comfortable to wear for long hours, holds a 28 hour charge, and provides a detailed and balanced sound experience. PROS - “Open” sound stage - Clear details with good mids and highs - Good imaging - Comfortable for long hours - Good noise canceling microphone - 28 hour battery life - Can charge while using - Boom mic auto mute when up - 360 spatial sounds good with games - Lightweight - PC/PS5 compatible - Low latency wireless connection CONS - Bass lacks presence - Hard to hear EQ adjustments - Sounds flat for music and movies on PC - 360 spatial sound seems better for games than movies - Strong competition in price range

Light wireless & wired headphones with microphone

These wireless (and sometimes wired) over-ear headphones are great for music, gaming, teleconferencing and anything else you'd want to use headphones and a microphone for. They are light and comfortable, with enough padding to stay comfortable for long use. They come in black or white. You can connect to either a PC or a PS5 with the included USB dongle, which has a switch on it for either PC or PS5. You can download Sony's Inzone Hub software, but I plugged the USB into a few different computers (desktop and laptops) and it worked right away without the software. The dongle is a bit large in my opinion, basically the same size as a USB memory stick/thumb drive. I've seen other dongles that are quite smaller, but since it has to work with PC and PS5, it might have to be large. You can also use these headphones as wired headphones with the included audio cable, with any device that has a headphone jack (increasingly uncommon with phones and other devices as time goes on). I can see doing this with a laptop when you don't want the rather large USB dongle sticking out in a crowded situation, such as on an airplane or other mass transit. The sounds is good and clear, whether gaming or listening to music, movies or TV. The over-ear headphones mask a lot of external noise, which is a plus if you are using them around other people or in a noisy environment. There are two volume controls, one for general volume and one to adjust the volume balance of gaming and gaming chat. The microphone is pretty standard and works well. It is on the left side of the headset. When not in use you lift it out of the way, which mutes it. Lowering it enables it. I was kind of surprised that these don't offer Bluetooth connectivity, but there are plenty of other headphones that do. Since these are primarily targeted for PC and PS5 gaming, they evidently decided to skip Bluetooth.

The Sony Inzone H5 Wireless Gaming Headset is an overall great gaming headset that I would recommend to just about anyone looking for a gaming headset. They are super lightweight with a very comfortable headband and ear-cups making long gaming sessions extremely comfortable. There are multiple ways to connect the H5's to your platform of choice, with bluetooth, auxiliary cord, and a USB-A to C connection you can connect this headset to just about any device. The sound quality is good overall with no noticeable distortion, the mic quality is also good and it is able to cut out a decent amount of background noise. My only complaints with the Sony H5's, and the only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars, is the overall build quality of the headset and the limited adjustability of the microphone arm. The mic arm, at least for me, ends up sitting way to close to my mouth; to the point that my beard is rubbing on it, and only the last 2/3 of the mic is adjustable and only a small amount. This causes the mic to sit very close to my face with no way to really move it out further. I also have some concerns with the overall build quality of this headset, while it is very light, it also feels very flimsy and cheaply made. The ear-cups are very shallow and your ears end up sitting right agains the speakers, the headset is very "bendy" which leads to it feeling that it is cheaply made and makes me worry about its longevity. I would still recommend these to anyone looking for a great headset, but I would also be aware of the issues and concerns that I have with these. If they do not concern you or if they are something you can live with, I would highly recommend these. Just how light and comfortable these are make any of the issues moot for me since these are probably some of the most comfortable gaming headset that I have ever used.

This is a nice comfortable headset that can easily be worn for hours without discomfort. Definitely one of the more comfortable headsets I've used. It also nicely matches the PS5 aesthetic, especially in white. The boom mic is swing up to mute, and the lower 3/4ths of it is soft and flexible so you can adjust its position slightly for comfort and best voice pickup. The left earcup also has a volume dial with a nice clicky feel. It's infinite scrolling, so there is no top or bottom to the scroll. I'm a big fan of volume control on headsets, because it lets you control the volume on your head independent of device volume, which is quite convenient. This does require the included USB dongle, even on the PS5. It has a switch on the dongle for PC or PS5. But both detect it right away. On the PC, you can install the INZONE Hub software which lets you select from some preset Equalizer or create a custom EQ curve. It also has settings for the microphone volume, auto gain, sidetone, and game/chat audio balance (this is also adjustable with rocker buttons on the right earcup). You can also setup "spatial sound" which is Sony's 3D audio magic, but this requires installing an App on your Phone and taking a picture of your ears (so it can analyze your ear structure). You can then Set settings on a per-app (game) so each game can have its own defaults. All in all, all of these customizations settings just on PC alone make this a really nice headset.

Not bad sound, but not as comfortable as preferred

So, I can be a bit picky when it comes to gaming headsets (well, any type of headset). For me, comfort is a bit more important than the sound quality. For the new Sony INZONE H5 Wireless Gaming Headset, I'm a little mixed on both. For the sound quality, it is pretty good once the equalizer was set the way I like it in the INZONE Hub app. Was a blown away, not quite, but for the amount of gaming I do, it would be fine. It could definitely portray directional sounds quite well (when listening for the direction that footsteps or other sounds are coming from). For testing the mic, I played a few games with one of my sons. His thoughts on the voice clarity were a little low. He mentioned it was a little muffled/distorted, and had trouble understanding all the words. I tried adjsuting a few mic settings in the INZONE Hub app, but it didn't seem to help. Still, with most of the gaming I do, I don't chat much or just play single-player. For comfort, I would prefer a headset that I could wear for an hour or two and not be bothered. For this one, it's not the worst experience I've had (at least it doesn't feel like I'm wearing channel-lock pliers because it is so tight), but what seems to bother me the most is the headband cushion. Even though the headset itself is pretty light, the foam is just a little too stiff and wish that they had used the same softer fabric as the earcups instead of the slightly stiffer leatherette-style material. It does seem to bother the top of my head, but still, not the worst I've tried. The earcups are definitely big enough, but the way it sits up against my head around the ears could be a little more comfortable to be able to wear for long periods. The design is just a simple, typical gaming headset design, with the normal "raise to mute" microphone. The volume control design on the left ear cup is interesting. There is raised plastic on either side of the wheel, and the wheel doesn't really stick out past it, which makes it slightly more difficult to use. The power button is on the right ear cup. It does have a 3.5mm jack (with included cable) to connect in wired mode to the computer. The charging is via USB-C port, with included USB-A to USB-C cable. One thing that is a little nice is that the headset can still be used wireless while charging. The instruction mentions that it may not be best to use it while charging when connected via cable. There is also a GAME/CHAT button that is used to determine which output is prioritized to listen to. CHAT increases the volume of chats, while GAME increases the game sound volume. The battery life is up to 28 hours, and you can get 3 hours of use with a 10 minute charge (but as mentioned, it can still be used while playing if charging near where you are sitting). While this may not be my favorite headset, it is still decent and will probably get some use.
