I’m not fond of in ear headphones as they start to be uncomfortable after a short amount of time! These are perfect as they rest on my ear instead! Not the best sounding headphone in world but they’re perfect to have while in social environments so you can still hear if you need too.

I'm enjoying these so far; the sound quality is obvious not as good like in-ear earbuds but they are comfortable considering they sit outside of your ear and they do allow me to be more aware of my surroundings while walking my dog. My only gripe is I think there are cheaper ones with similar quality on the market. I still may buy another in-ear pair for when I am not outside for better quality.

Hi Randi,
It’s rewarding to hear that your LinkBuds Clip are providing the comfort and situational awareness you need while walking your dog. We specifically designed the open-ear style to bridge the gap between your digital world and your physical surroundings, ensuring you stay safe and connected to the environment. While we understand your perspective on the price point, we invest heavily in high-quality materials and proprietary audio processing to ensure that even with an open design, the clarity remains distinctly Sony.
If you do decide to look for an in-ear pair for those more critical listening moments, we would be honored to help you find a model that provides that deeper immersion you’re looking for.
Thank you for trusting Sony to keep you connected to your world.

There produce great sound and they work really well with my mobile phone. Clear, crisp connection with using them during calls. Music and video sound great as well. They also work really well with the ChatGPT app. The charge lasts a long time and, so far, they recharge quickly.

Verdict: I really wanted to love these… I was excited about a new form factor and of course it’s Sony – the most epic brand in sound! I have to admit that I am a little disappointed. The sweet spot for sound is small, so they have to be in the right spot. Lows are inexistant, even with “Heavy” bass mode. While I do not love the way they look on my ears, I really appreciate the continued attempt to innovate. Unfortunately, gravity works against these; they are not great for sweating and longer running as they tend to shift down moving the sound sweet spot so that you have to readjust the earbuds. The app is capable and adds to the experience. They are actually quite comfortable, almost to the point of forgetting they are there! These are not bad earbuds by any means, but at this price, I would purchase something else, such as ANC earbuds (for full immersion and high sound quality) or other open earbuds. Pro tip. When you want to wear the LinkBuds, it’s easier to align the earbuds to your ears if both your thumbs are side-by-side as you grab the earbuds. In this manner, you can put them on at the same time with just one hand each. Background. I am an eager music and podcast listener, using a variety of headphones and earphones. Sony happens to be my all-time favorite brand for sound, with my go-to headphones being from Sony and our home theater system also being from Sony. Interestingly, these are my first earbuds from Sony. Initial impressions. The case is VERY small for open earbuds, actually the smallest I have ever seen. The efficient shape of these earbuds is the reason why the case can be so small. I like the gloss on the case; it’s a nice touch to set it apart. The charging port and Bluetooth button are in the back of the case. The earbuds are indeed very light. The form factor is interesting and a bit confusing at first. While I am not a fan of how they look on my ears (my daughter noted they looked funny, like a wanna-be ear accessory), I really appreciate Sony’s willingness to break new ground. The package comes with a charging cable. Sound Part 1 – “normal” use. Using a mainstream music service to listen, the mids and highs are prominent and quite rich and enjoyable, but my overall impression of the sound is essentially two-dimensional… On some music, I almost completely lose the base track. During testing, when I started to listen to a song with the LinkBuds, I didn’t even notice there was a bass track… then switching to other earphones, the bass track was quite prominent and integral to the song. I recognize that I am bass-biased; I enjoy stronger bass and find that it completes the usual prominence of mids and highs. To be fair, you shouldn’t compare open earbuds with closed ANC earbuds; they just can’t compete in sound quality… so it’s a different capability for a different market. Nevertheless, I still feel that the sound of these earbuds underperformed other open earbuds I use. Of note, the Sony LinkBuds do better at managing surrounding noise, maybe from the shape or position of the buds. In overall sound level, I am close to max volume for both podcast and music listening, which is not the case for other earbuds and headphones. If I was rating on just normal sound, these would be at 3-star. Sound Part 2 – with 360 audio. I am VERY impressed with 360 audio… Maybe it’s gimmicky, but I was shocked at how well it works, and especially on these open earbuds. The quality of the sound while listening to 360 audio is wonderful, even for percussion and on the lower end – not quite enough to bring back deep base, but I mean good enough to not notice the mostly absent bass lines. Unfortunately, there weren’t many listening options on the app I downloaded for the purpose of 360 listening, so that’s something that will need to grow for this feature to have a future. Still, I am puzzled why/how these earbuds work well with 360 but disappoint in normal listening. App and features. Apps for headphones and earphones are important to me because they can significantly enhance the capabilities of the listening device, or on the flipside, be limiting and frustrating. In this case, the Sony app is strong, adding great features and convenience. The equalizer provides easy presets as well as full customization. The LinkBuds are pairable to two devices (three would be better). The sound leakage control is a great idea and actually works well. Without it, my wife said she could (barely) hear some sound leakage. On the other hand, with the feature on, she could not hear any leakage, even sitting right next to me. The app and controls facilitate three listening modes; I mostly use normal and voice boost for podcast listening. Voice boost is enough to maintain adequate listening while I make espresso in the morning. I love the option to prioritize sound or connection stability; thank you for giving us a choice to customize our situation. The 360 Optimization function is easy to use, but then requires a download of another app to better take advantage of this feature. I think that until this is on the mainstream music platforms, it is not a feature that is going to appeal to a lot of people. Tap controls worked for the most part. I have to note that I dislike the volume continuous tap as it tends to shift my earphones out of the sound sweet spot. Running / Exercising. These earbuds are not ideal for me since most of my running involves a lot of sweat, which eventually shifts the earphones from the repeated impact from running. On the other hand, they are great for the gym so that you can still easily interact with other people while listening to your music. Things I love: - They are indeed feather-light - More immersive than typical open earbuds - IPX4 water resistance - 37 hours of battery life (9 on buds and an additional 28 with the case) - Made from recycled material, thank you! - Nice looking case that is smaller than other open earbg - The app adds value and convenience to the experience - Connectivity to two devices Things I don’t like: - In my call testing, the other person said I sounded either staticky or muffled - Controls are customizable but within certain parameters. In my opinion, this is too restrictive. In the default controls, the triple tap is not assigned, which is unfortunate. I think they should have put “previous song” so that the default controls cover “play/pause” and “next song” on the right side, and “sound mode” and “previous song” on the left control. The ability to freely customize would be ideal - Continuous tap for volume was ok. Sometimes the earbuds didn’t respond, and following my continuous taping, the earbuds moved out of place - 360 Sound is great but content is limited - Like all open earphones, these are not for loud environments. Examples include running on the street or on a treadmill, or even air travel Overall, the Sony LinkBuds are good earbuds with a strong app and lots of features. Unfortunately, they leave me wanting more for sound quality and the form factor is no my favorite. I would rate these 3.5 stars – rounding up to 4-Star for all the features and continued innovation from Sony.

The sound was great but wearing these clip-ons were painful. I bought them because they clipped on unfortunately i couldn’t tolerate them. I was deeply disappointed.

Hi MariaM,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the Sony LinkBuds Clip. It is great to hear that you enjoyed the sound quality, though it is truly disappointing that the fit caused you so much physical discomfort. Finding the right balance between a secure clip-on design and long-term wearability is essential, and we are sorry that these didn't provide the seamless experience you were looking for.
We genuinely appreciate your feedback regarding the fit, as it helps us understand how our designs perform in everyday use. If you still have the LinkBuds Clip, we recommend trying the included Air Fitting Supporters/Cushions. These are specifically designed to provide a softer point of contact and can significantly reduce pressure on the ear for a more cushioned, customized fit. We hope this adjustment makes a difference in your comfort levels.
Thank you for giving Sony a try!

I honestly didn't know what to expect when these earbuds arrived. As a fan of open ear tech, this new clip design really intrigued me. It was very clear how to put them on, and once they were in place, they were barely even noticeable. Hands down, these are the most comfortable earbuds I have ever worn. I never got any listening fatigue and felt perfectly fine wearing them for an entire eight-hour workday. I did take them for a run, and while they stay on securely even on technical trails, the touch sensitivity was a bit of an issue for me. My sweat or movement would sometimes cause the music to pause or cycle through the audio modes. In fact, they’re so lightweight that when the music paused, I actually had to double check to make sure they hadn't fallen off! Where these earbuds really shine for me is in the office or at home. In the office, I can switch on the Sound Leakage Reduction so I don't distract my coworkers, and at home, the Voice Boost is great for cutting through the noise of running water while I'm doing dishes or a noisy vacuuming while cleaning up. Most of the time, though, I just leave them on the Standard setting with a custom EQ I built in the Sound Connect App. Once you fine tune them, the audio quality is freaking amazing. The form factor is also great. The case and the buds are both very small, but they still pack up to 37 hours of battery life and have quick charging. I never have to worry about being stuck without my music or podcasts during a long day. Overall, I love these earbuds. They’ve quickly become my favorites for their design and fantastic audio. If you wear glasses and hats like I do, you'll really appreciate this design for its best in class comfort. 100% would recommend.

The Sony LinkBuds Clip are a great option for open earbuds. The biggest positive for me is that they are extremely comfortable and can be worn all day without any issue. I also like that they are open, meaning that you can hear everything in your surroundings - there is no passive or active noise cancellation. The LinkBuds Clip are so light as well, which only adds to the comfort as these clip around your ear. There is a touch sensitive section so that taps can be used to play/pause and other functions. Even with this clip on style, they manage to stay in place very well. I’ve used them while hiking and running and they remained in place. This is where I like the open design, I can be out in the world listening to a podcast or music and still hear things around me. I like the Voice Boost mod for podcasts, it works great to improve speaking. There is also a Sound Leakage Reduction mode, which will limit how much audio escapes. Battery life is great. I can wear these for a full work day and not need to charge them. Putting them in the case, I was able to use them for 3 full days with this pattern. That lines up with the states values - 9 hours of playback and 28 hours of charge with the case. The case design is unique in a double stack look. This makes it easily recognizable and not to be confused with others. I found these to be extremely comfortable with great sound and real world awareness. The comfort alone is so great, but paired with awesome battery life and sound modes make this is great set.

The Sony LinkBuds Clip Truly Wireless Open Earbuds are amazing! I am a person who does not like having anything inside the ear when listening to music. Traditional in-the-ear ear buds tend to bother me, and I do not like wearing them for long periods of time. Sony LinkBuds do not go inside the ear opening, instead they wrap around the outer part of the ear securely so the sound can be heard just as if they are inside the ear canal. They are both comfortable and functional while walking or even using the elliptical machine at gym. They do not slip or become uncomfortable at all. The sound quality is also great. Once the LinkBud is positioned properly, the sound is just as crisp and loud as traditional ear buds. The LinkBuds connect easily through Bluetooth to an iPhone, and the app is easy to use and set up. There are finger controls to increase the volume as well. On the app, the sound can also be adjusted easily for optimum output. I especially like how light-weight they are and how easy they are to clip onto the ears. Each LinkBud is designated for a specific ear and charge quickly in the included charging case. I love the light green color of them as well. They blend in more than a bright white or dark black. Overall, I really enjoy these LinkBuds and look forward to using them on long flights. I avoided ear buds in the past for long periods of time due to discomfort. I am hoping the LinkBuds will increase the length of time I enjoy listening to music.
