Despite poor reviews, this has great value, it allows you to stream your ps4 to a different TV, and also acts as ps vita lite, letting you play a subset of vita games (there's only few worth buying any way) without actually purchasing the handheld itself. For those that complain about this, it's just a matter of first world problems as it supplements the ps4 very well. Great option for a cheap gift or stocking stuffer for the holidays!

Let's cut to the chase, unless you are someone who really likes playing Vita games on a TV, the only reason to buy one of these is for the PS4 remote play functionality. The idea of being able to play your PS4 on a spare TV in your house when the main TV is in use is a fantastic idea, however, if you value image or sound quality at all then this is not for you.
I gave it two stars instead of one because it does technically work but the video quality is poor. I understand it can't do 1080p (only 1080i or 720p) but the images are very soft and text is not crisp. I had both the PS4 and the PS TV connected via ethernet through a top of the line Netgear Nighthawk router. Even on this fast connection, there is a slight input lag which is not noticeable except in certain fast-paced games like shooters or Madden. Sound quality is decent but you are limited to stereo and the headphone jack on the DS4 controller no longer works. I also could not figure out how to turn on the PS TV from the DS4 controller.
I can stream games from NVIDIA Grid over the Internet on a 65" TV at very high quality so there's no reason why Sony can't use similar technology to get much better visuals especially when streaming locally.
All in all, it was an underwhelming experience, at least for remote play which is the only thing I bothered with.

When I bought the PSTV, I thought it was going to be a device that not only played my Vita games, but would work more as a media center for my living room like Netflix and such. Sadly PSTV doesn't have much in the way of actual TV functionality and apps.
Go into buying this if you want to play Vita games, don't go for it as Media player. As a game device it works well and the vita games look good blown up on the big screen. Really easy to setup and use as well. Only problem is Memory card storage which should be cheaper by now, but isn't.

I bought this to stream my ps4 games but didn't know it doesn't stream the cut scenes. To me this doesn't make much sense but oh well. No Netflix is disappointing but I have so many devices its not a big deal. I haven't tried the vita playability but I've read the compatibility is always improving and can't wait to try it. Overall I'm happy with the purchase but theres room for improvement.

I purchased this item while it was on sale ($19.99) and it is worth it for what I use it for. Handy companion device for your PS4. Great for the remote play feature in another room that your playstation 4 is not in. Great as well for playing Vita games (not all of them are available) and your old school psx games (via digital purchases).

Do not get me wrong, I really like Sony and Playstation, I have all their products on the playstation line up. However, this one and the camera are useless when the company doesn't give them any support. There is no content, it is not 1080p, you need one of those vita memory cards, and no Netflix or Hulu services. I think the idea is there, and it is good for just remote playing games from your ps4...but use your more money in something else.

The PSTV is much smaller then I originally thought but don't let it's size fool you. This little badboy does quite alot from playing Vita games to streaming PS4. The only problem I see with it is that you can't play EVERY Vita game as some are incompatible with the device for some reason.... but for $20 it is indeed a steal of a deal especially for those who want to record Vita gameplay or stream it online.

heres the deal since my situation is unique. i setup my PS4 in my basement which im trying to make into a man-cave - the problem is my bedroom is on the 2nd floor of my house & in the evening when my wife is watching a girly show i dont want to watch i need something to entertain me. i picked this up so i can remote play my basement ps4 in my bedroom. yes you heard right. the console is in the basement but i have the PlaystationTV connected to a 28 inch monitor via HDMI and Bose headphones. works wonders. i know some people have said it can be a little laggy on wifi so both the PS4 and PSTV are cable (cat5e) connected to my home network. i did pick up an extra remote so i dont need to keep moving the remote. this works great. i know you can play PSVita games on it too (which i have) but i have a PSVita already but i REALLY wanted it to extend my PS4. in the future if i get a TV in 1st floor with more HDMI ports i plan on picking an extra one up so i can extend the console there too. you can connect up to 4 PS4 remotes. supposedly this lets you also use soem of the PS3 remote play features but not all games are supported vs Sonys mandate that ALL PS4 games be remote play supported.

Ok, disclaimer - I have 3 PS3s, a PS Vita, and PS4 in addition to this.
When the price dropped I couldn't pass it up. I had held out for a while because I use my Vita a ton and didn't need it. But as my daughter started stealing my PS Vita more and more, it became nice to be able to shift her to the Vita TV.
Pros:
* Can remote play a PS4 from it - I have my PS4 on the main TV so sometimes I can't bump the wife and girls off. Being able to go over to the Vita TV
* Can play a ton of Vita games - including a bunch provided by PS+
Cons:
* Can't play every single Vita game out there
Here's the bottom line - if you have a PS4 you are probably going to consistently subscribe to PS+. As long as you "purchase" all the vita you will end up with a huge library of them. The vita TV give you a great way to access all of those and basically turn you into a 2 PS4 house (but only able to use one at a time).

Remote Play Does NOT Work

I knew going into the purchase that the Playstation TV didn't have a lot to offer in terms of features, but i was able to get it for $10 when it was on sale along with reward points. My main reason for the purchase was the Remote Play feature which would allow me to play my PS4 in other rooms (living room, bedroom, etc.). This feature works flawlessly on my PS Vita throughout my house. However, the PS TV has (at least) a 0.5-1 second delay in every game I tested, both PS4 games and PS Store games, which makes it impossible to play any game. My PS4 has a wired connection to my Netgear R7000 router and I have 45Mbps internet, so my network is not the issue (my PS Vita works perfectly). I searched the internet for solutions including lowering the video quality, putting my TV in Game Mode, etc. Nothing worked, and this seems to be an issue for everyone. Since the PS TV supports ZERO apps, the only usable feature left is the ability to play Vita games on a TV with an actual controller, but even then, not all Vita games are supported. Unless you're only looking to play Vita games on the big screen, this product is useless. I would not recommend this product at $100, $40, or even the $10 I bought it for.

As others have said this is not a great product for Sony. Interface and hardware is basically Vita. I bought mostly for streaming from my PS4 and I have one of best routers on the market and pulling 300mbps down. Even with this the lag is almost useless to play ps4 remotely. If planning to hard wire with Ethernet may not be a bad option. That being said pretty good to play some old games, and good option for ps now. If planning to buy for tv app streaming look at other options like Apple TV, Roku etc.. Over all I gave three stars because there are good things about it, just depends on what your goals are to get out of the product.

I was very excited to receive my Playstation TV. I have a PS4 already and PS Plus, so we've been accruing Vita games for almost a year. Set up was super simple and if you have used the vita before, the interface is exactly the same. It's very tiny and the cords are a good length, so this little box could be placed anywhere. It's so tiny that the manual is bigger than the box itself. I've played a couple of games that I downloaded from my account and they have run very well and the download was quick. On the downside, after downloading 2 games it told me there wasn't space for one of the games I was going to download next. Definitely could use more storage and unfortunately, it means using the Sony only cards which are way overpriced. I have yet to stream from the PS4 as someone was playing at the time. Also, this does not have it's own controller, so consider picking one up for this system.

This is a cheaper PS Vita that has a more than respectable interface and most importantly can play a good share of PS Vita titles and classic PS1/PS2 titles. That was the real catch for me to go out and grab one of these in a deal, especially since I don't really consider a "Portable gamer" and actually like the concept of being able to play those PS Vita games on the big screen.
The two real drawbacks with this are
1) Not every PS Vita game can be played with this. Games like Gravity Rush and Uncharted: Golden Abyss are not compatible with the PS TV and surely a few others as well.
2) You can't take this on the road as you are probably aware so if you fancy yourself as to playing games away from home, this device is probably not for you.
If you are a JRPG fan or like "Niche" titles, this device is a pretty good buy for you. Games like Danganronpa 1 and 2 and Persona 4: Golden are compatible. The PS Vita is leaning more and more towards becoming a "Niche" type of player so to get something like this for much less money than a PS Vita, it seems like a good buy.

I was a bit skeptical of the device at first. The small size and gimmicky hype led me to think this would be a bust. The concept was so appealing however that I had to try. I was pleasantly surprised. The unit ties into the network with little effort. I did have to jump through a few hoops, but nothing substantial. Mostly I had to remember all the ID information for my PS4 and PSN accounts which I can almost never remember. The graphics look good and the controls are more responsive than I had anticipated. It has served me well these past few weeks when I am kicked out of the family room. So, now they can play Wii or watch a movie or whatever, and I can sit in my office across the house and play Destiny or Shadow of Mordor without any problem. My application stretches the limit of the wireless. We have a funky house design that blocks a lot of signal and we have lots of tech that can hog the bandwidth at times. I have been pushing off an upgrade of the wireless in my home, and it may be time to upgrade that router or buy a booster.

Great piece of equipment to play Vita games on a large screen with a full-size controller. The only caveat is that you need to purchase a compatible Sony storage card, I had the original 4GB from when I purchased the Vita but unless you want to delete/install games all the time, a larger card is needed.

Everything was easy to set up and works great. These next-gen games are a bit strange at first - being interactive movies more than just games. In some games the movie parts last so long that you sit there without anything to do and it's very weird and can be frustrating. The player isn't to blame for that though Sony likely knew that and had input. I just wasn't expecting it.

I grabbed a PSTV to play some of my VITA games on the big screen. for $30 (what I paid after a discount I had) I've been very satisfied. It doesn't have Netflix but I have a million other devices for that.
You can't play all VITA games so you'd have to find a list of games that are compatible but for the price now it's a great way to get access to a lot of VITA games.

If you mostly play online shooter games, like myself, then this product is probably not for you as there will always be some additional lag. It works alright for some things depending on your internet connection. I think your overall satisfaction with the product will largely depend on how it works with your internet set up in addition to the type of games you are interested in playing on it.
