It is great i love sony. The speaker works really well.

While i am a Sony enthusiast, this is not their best product. I have come to expect better from these speakers, this one is just ok.

I like the speaker it sounds good but at certain points it sends too much bass that you can hear it cant handle it to me its just a bigger ult 1 uses the speaker setup just tuned to sound more open not a bad speaker just keep that in mind

I loved it the first 3 months. I found that if you don’t use it every week the battery loses its battery strength. I tried to use it yesterday but it kept shutting off, so I charged it all night but it still kept shutting off and the bluetooth wouldn’t connect to my phone anymore.

Highly recommended! I gifted my son on his birthday and he loves it.

Sony has repeatedly impressed me with their Bluetooth speakers in the last couple of years, and this new ULT Field 3 Model is definitely no different. From the first minute I connected my phone to it and started playing a song, I fell in love with it! The Bluetooth connection was very quick and easy, and the Sony Sound connect app is great as well. The speaker sounded amazing right out of the box but having the app available to fine tune the sound, among tweaking many other items, is great. I am someone who cannot listen to music if it is coming out of a poor sounding speaker, especially if it is lacking bass. This speaker is so great with base I struggle to even put it into words. When I pressed that ULT button for the first time I was genuinely shocked at the sound quality and the punch that was coming out of a speaker this size. If you consider yourself an audiophile in any way, you will not be disappointed with this speaker. This is the first speaker I've had that has the option of a shoulder strap and it has already come in handy, the size and profile of this speaker is the perfect size to pack in the suitcase and I can already see myself carrying this out to the beach or pool this summer. Perfect to go along with long days like that will be the impressive 24 hour battery life and quick charge function. Also going along with that, realizing this really is the perfect pool and beach speaker, will be the IP67 waterproof and dust proof feature. No matter how careful you are with electronics, mistakes still happen and having that safety net is appreciated. Overall this speaker is a 10/10 and Sony did an excellent job with it.

I bought it for my son who's favorite color is orange. It sounds great but it could be a little louder. We do mainly use it outside.

Do not buy this. Initially I thought this was a really great speaker. The sound quality is good and it worked great for several months. Then suddenly, the Bluetooth started randomly dropping connection. The speaker is now unusable, it will randomly disconnect within ba few minutes to an hour after establishing a connection. Manually resetting the speaker or changing connection settings using the Sony App does nothing. The speaker is too unreliable to use for any period of time and I wish I would have bought something else.

New upgraded line of Sony speakers, with the ULT 3 being in the middle of the series as far as size goes. The ULT 3 was clearly intended to be taken around, as the casing has built in strap connections for you to attach a shoulder strap. When the strap is not in use/unattached, the attachment points hide away flush into the body of the speaker. Volume is plenty loud, but if you activate the ULT button the speaker automatically boosts the bass EQ. Battery life is rated for up to 24 hours, but only reaches 5 hours if using at maximum volume output. The speaker itself is rectangular, and can be stood in vertical or horizontal orientation depending on your needs. If you invest into the ULT sound ecosystem, one cool feature is Party Connect mode which daisy chains multiple ULT speakers to create stereo surround sound. With its form factor, Sony foresaw its use as a beach/pool/camp speaker, and the ULT 3 has a robust IP67 rating meaning it is dust-tight and can withstand submersion in water up to 1 meter deep for up to 30 minutes

So I am a big fan of Sony Bluetooth speakers. And I enjoy this one. I like the look. I was not sure if I liked the concave shape of the body, but I do like it. It kind of makes it more modern than say 2 years ago :-D It's a good size for a small speaker. I like the black. It comes with a handle-strap, knotted at the end to make it a functional handle-strap. If you lay it horizontal, SONY (the word) sits upright. But this can also sit horizontal. The charging port, which is USB-C has a rubber flap to keep it covered. Then there are a few buttons to make it function... nothing special, just basic... such as power. There IS an ULT button that is basically bass boost. Connecting the speaker was extremely simple. Push that Bluetooth button on the speaker and then let your device find the speaker. Hit it to connect. And boom. I connect to my iPod (yes, I still have one) and my Android phone. Then chose songs and playlists. Sony has a Music Center app, which I connected to so I could see if it offered what other Sony Bluetooth speakers offered. You can choose your music from your connected device. You can adjust the sound via the equalizer. BUT the one thing you can't do is connect this to other Sony speakers to create a speaker group and hear music from more than just this speaker. That was a bit disappointing, but also not that serious for me. It is what it is. The app also allows you to update the software of the speaker. This speaker gives some good and impressive sound. I like it. I let it fully charge before using it. I forgot about it, so I don't know how long it took. Every time after that, I kept plugging and forgetting, so I can't speak on the time. That is typical for me though. I won't wait to say that the problem with charging is that suuuuuuper short charging cable. Honestly, what is the point of that. I actually really don't understand that. I would really like to understand the thought behind that because it's dumb. BUT, that is not reason enough to deduct stars or not recommend. Back to the sound, I am big on audio and big on bass, so there is never a need to turn off ULT. ULT on at all times! I noticed that when I sit it on a surface (table, countertop), the sound is better because the bass is a little more pronounced; but when I simply held it in my hand, it was just slightly less. The bass is not something you are going to get out of a big speaker by any means. But for a small speaker, you can hear it, it makes the sound more full, and it's pretty impressive. When you put your hands to the sides, you can feel that bass booming. The funny thing is the feel of the bass does not match the sound of the bass. As hard as those sides punch, you would think the bass would sound even more strong. Again though, these are things I noticed, NOT things to take away from this being a good speaker. I like this little speaker. But never make the charging cable that short again... my goodness. I definitely recommend it though.

Music volume is not as high as expected. Would prefer for the volume to go up higher so therefore it was returned. Otherwise it was a nice speaker.

Speaker is great. I asked for the colors they had available and the employee said they only had black. I actually didn't mind black so I bought it. Well I opened mine up and it was white! The employee didn't know that the picture on the box was generic and that there's a swatch of color showing the color of the speaker in the box. Knowing how bad Best Buy is at returning items that aren't used, I just kept it. However, I will not be returning to this store and will purchase everything online now because of lack of training and lack of effort from the employee to dig in more. I have 19+ years of retail experience with 1 company and expect better service at the point of purchase.

I understand that the market has right now so many options for speakers that the mission of purchasing one looks daunting. If you are looking for a powerful sound speaker with easy connectivity to your Bluetooth device (phone, tablet, or music reproducer) and the weight is a factor this is probably the one you should consider. In connectivity, this is probably the most intuitive device that I found in years. I am used to a lot of technology that should be paired with another device, I appreciated so much the fact that as soon as I turned on the device for the first time, it was already doing the pairing searching for the main. Second pairing or with a different device is also as simple as pushing a button. The range of wireless is listed at an impressive 98 feet. The sound is simply amazing, with great capacity and volume. The surround sound qualities make this device the most immersive speaker for its size that I own. Lows are great when the ULT feature is activated, which makes evident and its presence appreciated. Note also that the speaker includes a built-in micro with ECHO canceling technology to receive and manage phone calls as it is a hands-free device. Finally, talking about resistance, I was just seduced when I considered that this has been rated as a IP67 waterproof, rustproof, and dustproof rating this speaker. This is my go-to device for a beach or a mountain day, it could be rainy at the last moment and I don’t need to be worried about it. And being so light can fit perfectly in my backpack. Other elements to consider about electrical power: .- The battery can run for almost half a day. Note that this is a reference in the box for a configuration t.b.d that probably limits the volume. In my 5 days of testing, I had performances of 8 to 9 hours non-stop with sound at 80%, always outdoors and the ULT activated. .- The speaker charges with a USB port in the back. The USB cable is included but not the power adapter. This is the only negative couple of elements, the cord is a bit small and the lack of adapter forces me to use my fast charger model. .- It fully charges in 4.30 hours (the specs refer to 5) but I imagine that could be based on the charger model or how old the battery is.
