Thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience with the SA-SW3. We're sorry to hear that you've had trouble connecting via Bluetooth and finding the correct sound levels. We're here to help.
Please try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:

About the issue with the sound, you need to make sure that the power indicator on the subwoofer is lit in green and then you can press SW + or BASS + on the remote control of your audio system to increase the subwoofer volume.
Also, If the input sources contain very little bass sound components (i.e., a TV broadcast), the sound from the subwoofer may be difficult to hear. You can check the subwoofer sound by emitting the test tone using your audio system.
In addition, you can perform a power reset on the unit. Just unplug it from the AC outlet, leave it unplugged for 1 minute and plug it in again.
