I’m always looking for a good portable speaker. When I saw the photo of the Sony SRS-01, I thought it would be about the size of a soda can. I was surprised to see how small it was: fits within my palm. As the forever optimist, I wanted to see how it worked. I was pleasantly surprised to how it sounded sounded. Pros: -Great sound. It projects really well in a room and outside. The sounds are crisp and clear. -Portability. Again, it fits in my palm and easy to carry around. -connectivity. Easy set up. You can connect either through Bluetooth or through the 3.5 jack. -Battery. The box states 6 hours before recharge. I’m averaging a little under 6 but pretty close. Cons: -Bass? Could use a little more. -charger. Comes with the micro-USB cable but no wall charger. I’m always scared that mix matching accessories might not work. Overall, good product with good sounds. It gets the job done and easy to carry around and not take up too much space.

Sound Quality----- At just a fraction of the size of the SRS-XB31, the SRS-XB01 can't compete with the sound quality of its bigger brothers.  Sound is more "tinny" and bass is lacking.  The speaker can get somewhat loud and can fill a small to medium-sized room, but it won't be powerful enough for parties or for entertaining a crowd.  Despite this, the sound is still better than my iPhone's speaker and I find this speaker handy for carrying around the house to listen to music or podcasts.  I would rate the sound about on par with the Anker SoundCore Mini 2. Bass Performance----- Despite the "Extra Bass" verbiage in this speaker's marketing, the bass on this speaker is lacking.  It's not completely absent and, in fact, lows sound fairly good on this speaker.  However, you won't get that satisfying "thump" heard in Sony's larger speakers. That's not to say that music sounds terrible on this speaker, but at a MSRP of around $35, you can't set your expectations too high. Features----- - IPX5 Water Resistant: It's not rated as high as some of speaker's larger speakers, but it is resistant to splashes (just don't submerge it in liquid). - Carrying strap: Personally one of my favorite features, the strap makes it easy to hang this speaker from a back pack while hiking or to simply tether the speaker to your wrist while working around the house.  The speaker is very lightweight (5.65 oz). - Music control buttons: You can play/pause, adjust the volume and skip tracks on the speaker directly without needing to dig out your phone. - Speakerphone: The speaker has a built-in mic and can be used to answer a quick phone call by pressing the Play button while your phone is ringing. - Micro USB charging: You don't need a special cable to recharge this speaker as any Micro USB cable will do, although a USB-C port would have future-proofed it a little more. Battery Life----- The speaker gets about 6 hours of usage while listening at a medium volume.  It definitely seems like Sony could have fit a larger battery inside of the unit and I'm curious as to why they didn't, as a single charge won't quite get you through the work day.

The Sony - SRS-XB01 Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Black is a surprise in portable sound! It is tiny compared to many other Bluetooth speaker options, yet provides major sound beyond its size. Set up was easy and quick. Sound was loud and quality. PRO - Small Size - Big Sound - Sound quality and range - Long battery life - Easy setup - Sony Quality CONS - None that I have found yet

This little speaker packs quite a punch! I was pleasantly surprised by how much sound this little speaker produces. It also works as a small speaker phone. I found I could easily hear the person I was calling and they could hear me so long as I kept the speaker stationary. It’s not entirely waterproof. It will survive some rain or some splashes, but it isn’t rated to be submerged. Thanks to its size, this speaker is great for camping or a picnic. All in all, I say pick it up. I doubt you will find a better speaker at this size and price. It won’t rival the sound of a speaker 3x its price, but for what it is, I really like it.

Great little speaker no doubt, but I have other Sony speakers that have more bass. I mean it is a small speaker, and it’s very loud. Just not that much bass, or maybe I just like a lot. :-) All in all, it’s a solid speaker. Easy to setup, and connected really fast on the first try.

Price discounted said that actual price is $35+ change and sold at $20!! It’s not worthy.

Great sound quality and bass. I love the size and shape of this product. The price point is perfect for a Sony product. This speaker is powerful for the size of it.. I appreciated the color choices available at the store. The speaker is easy to setup, pair to any device and charge. It charges quickly and I use it as an external speaker for my phone. It has a great signal range as well.

Small and loud. The next steps up are too big. I like that it small and connects easily. Only need to charge it every couple weeks. Works good when grilling out or eating outside. Sounds clear and is super portable. Would have liked to see USB-C connection but I charge it so infrequently it's not a problem.

My son really loves this speaker! The sound is crisp and clear and it also gets really loud to be so little! There’s a little base to it also which is really cool. The range is great as well as far as the distance capability with the Bluetooth. It also holds the charge for several days. I would by this over and over again!

Using this in my cubicle for background music hooked to an old IPod. Low to moderate volume, it sounds fine, but there is very little bass. Turn it up and it tries hard to compete with its bigger brothers and other speakers, and it just sounds muddy and distorted. Price and size are nice however. I just toss it in my backpack and go, not worried about scuffing or scratches. Comes with a wrist strap as well. Personally, I’d recommend stepping up to the larger speakers at the $49-$69 price range just to get cleaner bass sound.

This little speaker produces sound which is remarkably full and rich for its size, is inexpensive and is relatively easy to use. The only drawback is that if you're looking for strong volume for outdoors or a crowded room, this probably wouldn't be the ticket.

I call this my bathroom speaker! lol I use this in the restroom when showering, shaving, and getting ready to start my day. It helps my cell phone speaker overcome the sounds of the shower and electric shaver so I can hear clearly. I also use it while laying in bed, watching the news, if my cell's speaker isn't loud enough, it can help make the volume louder without being too loud as to disturb my sleeping housemates in the next room. It works great for lectures, the news, and music. The speaker is base heavy, so it was probably more intended for music. Easy Bluetooth connection, automatic once paired. I use it almost every day for about two hours and only need to charge it every once a week to week and a half. Uses a Micro USB connection, a short cord (no charger brick) is included. This was a cheap way to better hear in the room I wanted to without worrying if moister or steam will damage the product.

This small speaker stays charged for a good amount of time. It quickly connects to my tablet via bluetooth and allows enough volume for a small dance studio. It's light and easy to toss into my dance bag. No fancy controls, no complications.

For the price, we were not expecting the sound quality to be so good and also so loud. Great for traveling because it fits in any bag, and charge lasts hours so that you can listen for a long time.

Nice little speaker with very good sound. I think the bass is good, for a small speaker such as this. I use it to amplify my phone when I watch shows on it as I cook, etc. I only used it once with an incoming call and it was okay, but I am not using it for phone calls. (I actually use Do Not Disturb on my phone so I'm not interrupted, I call the person back when I'm ready.) The speaker is reliable, loud and clear enough. It lasts a good charge. I'm confident with Sony.

I love my new portable speaker. It holds a charge for a long time, is quite compact but has a big sound and is easy to use!
