Sony worked to design headphones and speakers that were specifically meant to provide more bass than other products. The Extra Bass series feature the Electro Bass Booster technology which brings bass into focus no matter what tracks you are listening to. This battery-powered enhancer digitally increases low-frequencies in the music and maximizes the deep, punchy sound and rhythmic feel that bass-lovers dream of. The Extra Bass function is built into these products as an active button on the device. That way you can turn it on and off at will. One of the speakers in Sony’s EXTRA BASS product line is the SRS-XB41. This moderately-sized speaker provides enough sound to fill an auditorium with music. The XB41 features an impressive 58mm (dual) speaker unit inside its case. Much like the XB21, the XB41 is waterproof, dustproof, and features exclusive Japanese-made fabric. This speaker quickly became a favorite of mine when I saw the impressive light show it put out. The XB21 features a little dancing LED around the border of the front face of the speaker, but the XB41's speakers light up and so does its face. This light show can be customized in the Music Center app. The XB41 boasts a powerful sound and 24-hour battery life. One other feature that comes in quite handy is the built-in battery. You can charge your phone (or another device) directly from a USB-A port on the rear of the device. Other than that, the two speakers share quite a lot. I loved the sound that came from this speaker and the light show was an impressive bonus. The Sony Music Center app (available for Android or iOS devices) really makes the EXTRA BASS speakers shine. It controls the light effects and provides a way for you to be able to connect multiple speakers together. I was actually able to test this feature out with the smaller Bluetooth speaker — the XB21. While it took a few attempts to get the two speakers to talk to one another, the feature did work very well. This is a first class speaker and it provides a premium listening experience.

Its the perfect sidekick when riding my bike or listening to music from my laptop. I would definitely buy again.

Sony - SRS-XB41 Portable Bluetooth Speaker packaging is excellent. It came with speaker and charging cable. The design is very unique and well built. Setup is quick and easy. I was able to connect using Bluetooth and NFC options without any issues. It has full size USB port along with audio port. I was amazed with sound quality and clarity after playing a song from my iPhone. The color changing LED lights are really cool while playing songs. The bass is really good as well from this speaker. Battery life is really solid and came around 24 hours. It took around 5 hours to charge fully. I was playing a song with full sound and fill the entire living room with great sound quality. The ability to connect more than 100 speakers is a great feature and it will help to place speakers in each room. I already own SONY SRS-XB31 and able to pair with SRS-XB41. The quality is much better and wide in SRS-XB41 compare to SRS-XB31 due to increased size. Live Sound is an amazing feature to get 3D sound experience. I have installed the SONY Music control and it has tons of features to control music. The call quality is great with this Bluetooth speaker. SONY built a very solid Bluetooth speaker with better sound quality with bass. The price is reasonable as well. My kids are using this speaker very regularly due to the color lights and party mode. SONY always make better products in TVs, Cameras and they have entered in audio space with quality products like SRS Series Bluetooth speakers. Well done SONY!

The sound produced by this speaker is one of the best I have heard from all portable speakers. I like the extra bass that gives a boost to produce the best beats. I can definitely feel it across my big living room; which is quite wide. The speaker has a Live Sound button that when pressed it gives a real three-dimensional listening experience. The speaker’s box has an angled design which sends the music to a wider area. I initially used the speaker without the Sony app and it worked well, but I later downloaded the app and this gave me more control of the speaker setting. The app allows you control over the lighting mode, sound mode, turn on, and adjust the Power Booster, and play with the DJ effect setting. The first day I got this speaker I used it for many hours -first for exercising and later doing chores around the house. Good music played on this speaker will keep you very active for hours. The Party Booster is advertised for party events but I find it excellent for dance exercise because you move more by holding the speaker and taping the sides to add your own beat sound to your favorite music. Five sides of the speaker produce different sound with the tap of your hand on each side. If you have another Sony portable speaker with WPC (wireless party chain) you can link them together spread your music even further. Overall, I am very satisfied with this speaker.

I have also used the smaller version of this speaker, the XB31. Both of them performed very well from an audio quality perspective with great sound that can be tweaked with an in-app equalizer. The XB41, however, has a much louder sound and can fill a larger room. Check out my picture below to see the size difference between these two models. Another benefit of going with this larger model is that it comes with an AC adapter that allows you to keep it plugged in and powered at all times. The smaller version is charged by USB only. This allows you to use this speaker as more of a permanent fixture in your home if you choose. The lighting feature of this model is also better. The XB31 lights only decorate the outside borders while the XB41 has additional lights within the speakers themselves that add to the cool factor. In my opinion it's worth the extra cost to go with this larger XB41 model. But if you just need a portable sound system for on the go, the XB31 will work for you as well.

This is my new favorite speaker. The app is easy to use, Bluetooth is great, battery life is great and the volume is powerful enough to support a backyard BBQ. I was also able to easily sync it with my smaller Sony SRS-XB31. It produced great sound and an eye catching light show which received a ton of complements from friends.

I own few other BT speakers (JBL, Bose etc) and I can easily say that this one sounds better (or same as Bose). But I should also mention that this one is more expensive one too. Here are more details: Pros: ==== 1. Easy setup as well as pairing with my phone, laptop as well as desktop. The NFC technology for one-touch pairing made it even easier for my android phone. The bluetooth range is fantastic and definitely better than the other speakers that I have. 2. Huge battery which can provide up to 24 hour battery life (as per the specification I have not had a chance to verify this). 3. USB 5 V output jack which can be used to power the phone while the speaker is on. This is one of my favorite features. 4. All the controls are on top of the speaker which makes the operation really smooth and easy. 5. There is a standard 3.5 mm input jack so that you can direct the sound of equipped devices (e.g. echo dot) via this. 6. IP67 waterproof rating gives me peace of mind when I am using it near water body (pool/shower) 7. It has lights that wrap around both sides (top and bottom) of the speaker. You can set them up to flash to the beat. My son really likes them :) and so do I. When needed these can give a real party kind of feel. 8. Sony Music Center app is good (it can benefit from few design modifications though). There is an add-on module "Fiestable" which adds light and sound controls. Cons: ===== The only con that I can mention is that I think it's a little bit expensive but you get what you pay for :) Overall, it is a great speaker with GREAT SOUND. There are a lot of cool new features as well as standard BT speaker features. If you are willing to shell out ~$250 on a BT speaker, this is one of the best value for your money.

This is a very impressive Speaker by Sony. It has great sound quality, 24 hr battery life, and the ability to charge phones and allows multiples phones to be connected at once through bluetooth. The speaker is also waterproof and is very durable. The sound is comparable to other high end speakers I have tested like the Bose, and the Homepod. It also has light patterns that play with the music, I haven't tested that as much, but there is a separate app you can use to control all the lights. The Sony App is a nice touch for adjusting settings. There is a "live" feature which is supposed to be more 3d for your room, but I found the normal setting to be much better. The connections in the back are impressive with the amount of options built into the speaker. You can do an AUX in, DC out and a charging port for a USB. Overall I would highly recommend this speaker. The sound quality is excellent, it's waterproof, it has great battery life, and can charge your phone in a pinch. What more can you ask for?!

SONY SRS-XB41. Have you seen the trick where the magician reaches into a top hat and keeps pulling out things that exceed the size of the hat? When you pull out this half-gallon sized speaker from its package, you’ll discover out-sized 3D sound, a colorfully exciting synchronized light show, DJ-sound effects you can control, and a Music Center App to manage all the sound and lighting effects plus your playlists. I’m outta breath now, but you also can add to your phone a Fiesta App for still more light and sound features. The speaker casing is waterproof and dustproof PLUS it adds a set of speaker surface effects sensors, 24 hours of battery life and it’s all controlled by Bluetooth or a stereo minijack if you prefer. See, it’s a lot like a magic hat. I’ve also been using SONY’s smaller (XB31) version of this speaker and the differences aren’t huge with the XB41 but they definitely add to the fun. This speaker will fill a larger space with huge sound. While the App is the same, the XB41’s extra feature set is now made accessible in the App, and you can modify the expanded light show, re-configure the full complement of lights (line, speaker, and strobe), exploit the multi band equalizer, further control the bass output, and select the 3D sound or other sound fields. Did I say it will get even louder? Oh, and my wife has claimed this one for her Spa-side entertainment so it’s all setup on her iPhone6. Sound quality can be adjusted so it’s very natural for more serious listening. Out-of-the-box, the XB41 is set up for a party. Across a broad selection of my music, male voices were not exaggerated: John Legend and Vance Joy sounded great. Female voices like Alicia Keys, or Sade, or Tori Kelly were equally honest sounding. All had exceptional, solid, serious bass with natural, recognizable voicing and nice treble detail. Older 60s music actually got a nicer, solid bass foundation. Go into the Music Center App’s setting screens and everything can be modified. You don’t need to change anything, but for the imaginative, everything is accessible. These SONY party speakers are the perfect way to liven up a celebration or afternoon by the pool and they aren’t fragile. They certainly don’t need you to worry about protecting them from the elements at the pool or beach or camping. And, if others at your party bring their own, you can easily link them for still more sound coverage. Highly recommended.

I'm pretty happy with this speaker. I have it and it's smaller brother the SRS-XB21. I got to say they both have incredible sound. Once you get this out of the box, you can pair it up with a Bluetooth source and you're off. Otherwise, download the music center from the app store, in my case Google/Android and it makes pair the speaker or more than one speaker a breeze. It also connects to a few popular apps, such as Iheartradio, Pandora, your personal library and I believe Spotify. I love to listen to KGB fm out of San Diego. I grew up listening to KMET and KLOS, but KGB has the playlist of my generation if you're into classic rock. This unit has a nice lightshow with both speakers lighting up and around the face a mass of leds?? changing colors. You can also download Fiestable from the app store and it has some controls that let you be your own dj. They are pretty basic and didn't do much for me, but I can see how it would be fun to mess around with during a party. I also wasn't able to get the extra bass to work very well. I did hear it work, but for me it was hit or miss. That said it didn't dampen my experience with the unit. I would recommend it to anyone that wants a good source for music that they can take anywhere and set down. Around the spa, working in the yard, or washing the car. This thing puts out a good sound and it's loud without becoming distorted. I had it on high and I could enjoy it throughout the house. I bet even a neighbor or two had to enjoy it. I'm posting a pick of it and it's little brother so you can see the difference in size. Size really doesn't matter with the sound, it just the lights and features that the 41 brings to the experience.

The Sony SRS-XB41 is a nice looking and great sounding little speaker that has everything you’ll want in it. It weighs in at a little over 3 lbs., so it’s not super lightweight for carrying around, but the weightiness is certainly due to all the good stuff it has inside. This is a Who’s Who of features built in to this device: IP67 rating means it’s dustproof and can withstand rain, sweat, and should even survive an accidental dunk in the pool; 24-hour rechargeable battery; USB power port to charge your phone; Bluetooth and/or NFC connectivity; Party Chain multi-speaker connectivity; speaker phone; party lighting built in; touch sensitivity (more on this later); and app-connected. I connected this via the Party Chain with my big Sony XB90 speaker for multi-room playback. That’s a nice feature. I love the lighting in this speaker plus being able to adjust it through the Fiestable app to whatever colors I want is a nice touch. There is a feature where you can tap the speaker in different areas to make different noises. The touch sensitivity could use some work, as I found it to be kind of hit or miss as to when smacking it would make the desired sound or not. This is something I wouldn’t use much, but I might if it worked better. You can turn the function off if you don’t want/need it. The sound is what you would expect from Sony. Clear highs, neutral midtones and extra bass. There is an equalizer in the app and a few preset sound settings so that you can apply them to your liking. There is no Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa in this speaker, but otherwise it has everything else. I would definitely recommend it.

---SETUP--- The setup of the Sony SRS-XB41 portable bluetooth speaker is a little cumbersome. You have to download an app called Sony Music Center and it will guide you through connecting the bluetooth speaker. However, the app got stuck after the part where the phone connected via bluetooth on multiple attempts. After that, though, it worked as intended. ---FEATURES--- The key feature of this speaker is that it can connect to other compatible speakers for a fuller sound. I also own the Sony SRS-XB31 (the smaller version of this one, white). I opened the Sony Music Center and tried grouping the speakers together. This was also a cumbersome process partly because it of the aforementioned setup process mentioned above. In my experience, the app kept getting confused telling me that one speaker or the other needed to be set up in the app, but both had previously been set up already. Again, once I got the app to work, I could hear sound coming from both speakers using only one source (my phone). ---SOUND PERFORMANCE--- The performance of this speaker is astounding. The box says “extra bass” and the speaker isn’t kidding around. At medium volume level, the speaker was loud enough to fill out my classroom. As a teacher with brutally honest students, they told me that they could hear the speaker very well. I could tell they weren’t lying when my next-door co-worker knocked on my door to tell me that the volume was too loud and asked if I could lower it. A button called “live” allows you to turn on a feature that makes your music sound fuller, almost as if you were present the day it was being recorded. Turning it on and off makes a difference, and I personally enjoyed the sound better with “live” on. ---ADDITIONAL FREE APP FEATURES--- The product exceeds my expectations. However, a real standout that I didn’t expect to enjoy as much was the optional free downloadable app called Fiestable. It takes the speaker’s party mode to a whole other level. With the Fiestable app, you can pretend to be a DJ and control several aspects of the speaker live while playing your music. I chose Sandstorm by DaRude (1999) and let the song ride out. Meanwhile, I used the Fiestable app to change the lights to my liking (illumination control works great), DJ the Sandstorm song by messing with the equalizer (DJ control, also works amazing), and added my own beats like a cowbell, a snare drum, or a bass drum sound effect with the motion of my phone (Motion Control, didn’t work as great). Overall, this app is worth the download if you plan to be using your speaker as the main source of music for parties. More so when you connect multiple speakers via Music Center. ---VALUE--- The price for the bluetooth speaker in terms of value is well worth it. The speaker fills most large sized room and larger rooms can be filled with with multiple connected speakers. ---APPROVAL--- I highly recommend this product for people who want to have continuous audio while changing rooms in their homes (multiple speakers required, not necessarily of the same model). People who host parties often should also seek this speaker. The cumbersome setup is worth dealing with for an otherwise amazing device.

This is by far the best BT speaker i have used so far! pros: - waterproof (IP67) - deep bass does not effect the sound quality at all. - very nice LED lights. - durable fabric (i dropped it by mistake a couple of times and the fabric held up pretty good) - BT connectivity is really easy, and you can tether almost endless speakers like it. - there is a dedicated APP you can use to control the speaker (LED color- party mode- interactive speaker sounds based on where you tap it). - it is easy to carry around, the rubber grip is very nice. - battery quality is also impressive - the speaker is NFC enabled as well which is great! - the speaker has a live button to make anything you listen to seems like a live concert - the charging options are wonderful! you can either charge using the dc charger provided or using a micro USB charger. - it has USB out to charge other devices, and an Audio in for direct connection. attached is a picture of this speaker beside the Megablast, just to show you how big this thing is! this is a great speaker that will be my companion in camping, beach trips for long years to come.

Bursts into the room without apology and I am okay with that! The strums of the violins in music sound serene, the strokes of piano keys are pulsing that the bass is so fine tuned you can feel like your sitting at orchestra’s concert. Just took mine to the lake and the sun was out and then... a harsh and short thunderstorm blew in. It was amazing, the speaker didn’t muffle when hit with rain and people around us appreciated the music as we all just sat and just took in Mother Nature while we waited for the storm to pass. The fact that after the storm I could use the speaker to charge my phone meant I could stay after and enjoy the sun come through the clouds and snap pictures. This is my third Sony speaker and each one is just as outstanding as the other. I like all genres of music so for me Broadway Musicals to Manchester Orchestra sound great. Party chain feature is super awesome and I can’t wait to have people over to let my beauties speak for themselves, especially the blue color!

The Sony SRS-XB41 is a portable Bluetooth speaker that packs a punch in terms of the audio as well as features. The Extra Bass feature will ensure your party is enhanced with the depth of every beat. The LED lighting is a cool feature although I appreciated that this can be easily turned off if you're using the speaker at home or otherwise don't need the light-show accompanying your music. One feature that our family will definitely enjoy is the fact this speaker is both waterproof and dustproof. It will find itself equally at home in the backyard by the pool as well as on the beach. Once the party is over you can easily wash it. The SRS-XB41 has an impressive battery life too, lasting 24 hours on a charge and you can select your music from your favorite devices using either Bluetooth or NFC. Overall we're very impressed with this speaker and we're looking forward to taking it on many trips this year.
