I have sony over ear headphones and sony ear buds and they both sound incredible so i decided to try the sony bluetooth speaker and Sony definitely knows how to do sound. This speaker lasts all day ive never had it die on me. The lights are cool and match up with the music pretty accurately but if you want the insane battery life turn them off during the day you cant see them anyway. I like bass and this doesnt dissapoint. Ive had this speaker for a while now and i was sitting in a hot tub and someone handed the speaker to me and he dropped it and it fell to the bottom of the hot tub. The water resistance held up perfectly and the speaker wasnt affected at all. After this its been splashed and rained on so much you dont need to worry about it being wet as long as the back charging area is closed.

I have used other blue tooth speakers in the past, but none to this caliber. It seems that as these speakers evolve one of 2 things happen. They get smaller and loose quality or they get bigger and deliver better sounds. This speaker does the second. I highly recommend this speaker for 2 main reasons, the size and the display. This unit measures just over a foot in length and is worth every inch. As noted above, I have used plenty of blue tooth speakers in the past but have never had one this size before, which does not bother me one bit! Its sturdy build give me confidence that it will not crumble yet does not weight an overly large amount either. Secondly, the companion app can give you the option to change the light display from a "rave" setting to a "chill" setting which matches the temp/beat of the music. Its pretty cool, depending on if i am entertaining or jamming out alone there is a light setting that matches my mood. To summarize, due to the sturdy big build and the adjustable light modes paired with the deep rich base and user friendly companion app I would highly recommend this speaker to anyone who is looking!

I've been testing this almost constantly since I got it. I've been comparing it to both the XB41 and the X77. Disregarding the past speakers for now, I can say that everything possible has been improved at least marginally with this speaker. Starting with sound, I noticed the bass is just as powerful as before, but you can much more clearly hear mids and highs. With the tune of an equalizer, you can make it sound more like the older model, but it is now more balanced. That is exactly what I prefer, since the flatter a sound profile, the more adjustments can be made. Compared to the X77 from a couple generations of speaker ago, it's actually not as clear or loud, but the radiators are larger and the bass is more natural and subtle. I think it's good enough that I could substitute it for a sound bar. The physical design initially turned me off. Like the previous model, it has lights built in, but I never used them or cared for it that much. I always preferred Sony's X77 design look which has been sleek and minimal. However, this does have the benefit of being water resistant and more rugged with the fabric. I at least don't have to worry about dents or scratches, and it doesn't look like a business speaker. It is also way heavier, which I have understood to be a result of roughly double the battery compared to older models. As an aside, I would expect the weight and rubber edges to hold up better than the old ones. The XB41 specifically had it's fabric ripped when my girlfriend had dropped it while riding her bike. This happened more than once, and though the sound was still solid, the battery eventually started to give out, and there is so much fray, you can see the plastic chassis clearly now. The rest of the features are roughly the same as the previous XB41, which lost quite a few compared to the X77, which was largely for home use. With LDAC, you really don't need a WIFI capability for quality. It would be nice to have the speakers connect through WIFI to chain link though. Or a module that can convert them for a theater setup. The inclusion of NFC on Sony sound products is phenomenal. The one problem I've had is with all of them because of the app, which is trying to bypass the system to do dual audio. The Sony Music Center tries to prioritize one device at a time, which makes it difficult to play music from two speakers at once for double the volume, or simple comparisons. In the short time I've had it, the sound and design have really grown on me. It feels very premium, and if you can get one for $150, be careful the cops don't know, because that's still a steal.

Sony had a rough start to their speaker lineup. I bought a 100$ speaker from Sony about five years ago. It sounded completely terrible. Couldn't understand how a product from Sony could sound this bad. It had no bass, the imaging was pretty much nonexistent, and the overall design of it was functional, but completely boring. At the same time, I got a bigger JBL speaker, it blew it away. Swore to never buy another Sony speaker. Fast forward those five years, and JBL speakers have gotten more expensive and still sound the same. My biggest gripe with them was how they only supported SBC codec for their Bluetooth connectivity. In layman terms, the bluetooth connection was really holding it back from sounding great, and most people only ever use the bluetooth. Apart from that, the speakers all still sounded about the same as they have these last couple of years, it was clear that JBL was just banking on their previous success. With that said, Sony came back with a lineup that really did good to its name. The sound from this thing is amazing. With a six speaker setup, it really fills the room with visceral sound. Lots of bass, but not overwhelming, a thick, meaty midrange, and subdued highs. Warm sound, but not wholly or flat. Apart from having LDAC and AAC bluetooth, the speaker also has nfc for quick pairing, basic things that I really thought JBL would have by now. It has a speakerphone! JBL speakers had them too, but have since been removed from most of their current lineup....why? The design is futuristic, with rgbs and lights adorning the speakers themselves. It's a little distracting, but you can change all that. Inside, it has a giant battery that can also charge your phone. Haven't tested it, but battery life is plenty, even will all the lights on. Sony really beating out the competition, just by having some common sense. Feels like JBL are not even trying anymore. Indoors or outdoors, you can't do much better than this for the price.

Took this thing to the beach! Got some sand in it, falls right out. Sound is great, very deep bass. Surprising heavy speaker, so you know it's worthy. I love the LED light settings. There's two apps you need to control the sound and light settings. You can't customize the light patterns but it doesn't bother me too much. Battery life is ridiculously long. I haven't tried running it for a day straight, but when I use it a few times a day the battery lasts for about a week or longer.

On sale so thought I’d try it. Blown away. Easy BT access with IPhone. We’ve used well over 8 hours on battery charge. Great sound for small speaker. Good bass. And waterproof so we’ll use by pool. Very pleased so far

This is a fun speaker. The various light settings and crystal clear audio make it a party on its own. For it’s design, it is a bit to carry unless you have big hands like myself. It is fairly large, a bit over 6lbs and no easy way to handle it without a broad grip. It is IP67 rated, so no worries with taking out by the pool or beach. Like their previous models, it is easy to connect to Bluetooth with built in NFC. The Bluetooth range is stronger than I have seen on other speakers and the audio clarity of the speaker was still nice at over 75 feet away. With the Live mode you can hear the extra tweeters really throwing the highs. The “Extra Bass” on the other hand, didn’t seem very “extra”. You can see the sides of the speaker pumping with the bass, but it just didn’t seem to project as well as the mids and highs, so, really did not give a deep bass feel. A feature that I enjoyed in previous models, known as Wireless Party Chain, is now called Party Connect. It has the same function of allowing up to 100 of the speakers to be connected to a single audio source, however, it only works with this series. So, if you have a XB21/31/41, XB22/32/42 that could connect to each other with WPC, they will not connect to the new XB23/33/43. Using the Sony Music Center app you can change additional settings like the lighting patterns and your audio settings with a 3 band equalizer. There are some other DJ style settings in there as well, but those are more entertaining through the Fiestable app when selected from the Music Center app. Battery life is pretty amazing and probably one reason it weighs as much. You could attain 24 hours on one charge, but of course as with anything on battery, it depends on specific settings such as stamina mode, party lights and volume level. But, for a typical outing, a full charge will cover you for several hours and still let you charge a separate device. Overall it is a cool looking speaker and plays audio really clear. I just don’t feel the bass as I was expecting and the lack of connection with previous model speakers makes me feel like you must buy the new models all over again if you want to use the multi-speaker connect feature.

Not a Quantum Leap from my SRS-X55 but more like a Porsche 911 evolution. Better battery life, better sound field, better bass, better control via app, has water resistance. Great sound in a bigger package. Great as a driver for portable recording in my laptop DAW. The drawbacks, for me, are; increased weight/size, cloth covering on the bottom where it can get funky when used under less than ideal conditions, light show built in (Really? Why?) put the $$ in the product not on baubles, lack of a grill on the side mounted bass passive drivers. It's a good speaker and I'll be keeping it but there is still a place for my older/functioning SRS-X55 workhorse.

I did a lot of research on these level of speakers and had initially got a different speaker, and then traded in to get this one. I'm incredibly happy I did. It has a full rich sound that can fill nearly any room. Pros: -Probably the best sound on the market at this price max volume is LOUD. -It is truly waterproof and pretty sturdy. -has an app that let's you control the lights and equalizer. Works pretty well. Cons. -Advertises a 24 hr battery life. This has not been fully tested, but I doubt it could last this long. After about 2 hrs of middle sound it was at 70% -Missing a handle or strap. This thing is about the size and weight of a half gallon of milk. A solid strap would bump this to a 5 star product.

This speaker is a monster in the weight category, but the sound output is there to match. Clear highs, solid mids, and powerful lows. The subwoofer level frequency production is pronounced, but not overwhelming. It will vibrate whatever surface it is sitting on. It also gets LOUD with very little distortion at the top end of the volume curve. Max volume is usually more than adequate for anyone within 30 feet, if not uncomfortably loud. I recommend it to anyone looking for a portable speaker that wants/needs USB C charging and full waterproofing. It has survived a dunking in a lake and a few rain storms. Some notes: it needs to be broken in before the full audio range is available. Run it through the ringer of frequencies a few times for at least 15 min. Then the bass will become more apparent. Charging takes a while too, but battery life just about matches expectations set on the specs. It usually lasts me a 3 day weekend with 8-10 hours of playback a day and no charging, however I leave the lights off and rarely go above 50% volume.

This speaker is pretty heavy. After charging it and pairing with my phone (super easy with the app and bluetooth) turned it on and cranked it up. Sounded great at mid volume and was really loud on the porch. In a 10x15 room it is really loud at full volume. Can't wait for a day off work to try it outside doing yard work.

Great sound and plenty of battery to last all night. I use this to augment my work laptop on zoom calls and when work is done synch to my phone for hours of clear music. Great bass from a smallish speaker. Heavier than I thought though. Now linked to my Amazon echo puck for constant music. Also has input jack and will try connecting to my remote microphone for a portable PA system.

The Sony Bluetooth speaker sounds fantastic! We have had it at a high volume a few times and it doesn't distort at all. Pairing it with my phone was very easy. You can use volume control on phone or the device. We do not use the party lighting at all, it is simple to turn off. The battery has been long lasting so far! Only criticism is that once is a great while, it will lose connection. It is easily solved by turning Bluetooth off and back on on my Pixel 2.

Great sound. Easy to use and to get connected to bluetooth. The lights are awesome for a party, but can be turned off if that's what you choose. Works great with the Sirius XM app on my phone. Easy to charge, and long lasting.

Sony makes a quality product no matter the price. This speaker is no exception, you can have it low enough to fill a restroom during a shower and loud enough to for a get together while being able to drown out the talking. I'm serious it can get loud! The lights are a plus. If you have kids they will love the light show at night when playing music. Good for camping, barbecuing, or even just relaxing. Sony has the mood you're feeling.
