Extremely easy to hook up and start. Plays old dvd's with excellent quality. I returned some 4K dvd's I purchased because my old dvd's played with just as much picture quality as the 4Ks. I have this hooked up to a new LG OLED 55" tv. Would recommend to anyone looking for a 4k blueray player.

I have been very happy with this player. I got great picture quality and was pretty easy to set up. I gave 4 stars because Sony had some odd default choices that actually diminished the playback quality and you needed to go through each option to notice. Also the packaging advertised a free movie bundle offer that was already expired which was kind of an annoying let down.

Bought this DVD player when it went on sale. Been wanting to get one but the prices were too high. Finally got a good price. The picture quality is amazing. So much better than standard HD. It was easy to set up and navigation is easy as well. It has all the bell and whistles.

Sony’s 4K player is sturdy and well built. The load times are quick and the picture quality is amazing when playing 4K movies. It supports Dolby Atmos sound but unfortunately does not support Dolby Vision

I bought the LG 4K player last year but it does not compare with the quality of their flat screens, so I started doing research. I looked at all of the 4K players (even the high end ones) on the market and their comparisons. I've had the Sony UBP-X800 for 3 weeks now and it does it ALL for me: 4K player, excellent 4K upgrade of Blu ray & DVDs, plus Netflix streaming, and USB plug in for MP4 videos. As an added bonus for me it also does 3D Blu ray (although it doesn't make a big note of it on the box. It has the best color, sound, and detail - very easy to set up and the the manual explains what each option does - unlike other players. [Note- This is hooked up to a 65" LG 4K Flat screen with 3D.] No need to buy the more expensive Sony model which only adds the LED readout on the front panel and one extra audio output. You won't be sorry - check this out on YouTube comparisons - and you'll be confident in buying this unit.

Easy to setup and simple to use. I had read disc load time on 4K players could an issue - I experienced no noticeable wait times. The construction of the unit is solid, heavier than other DVD players I’ve had in past. Very please with this Sony unit coupled with 65 LG OLED

First thing we did was put on some old blu ray and dvd discs and the upscale feature worked great. We’ve played 4K discs as well. We don’t have a 4K tv yet so looking forward to how much better everything looks then. Also easy set up. So far, it’s as good as expected.

Easy to set up and use. Hooked it up to the XBR65X930D, but have not used it with a 4K disc as yet. Children played the blu-ray Mary Poppins disc in it and the picture color and clarity were exceptional. Can't wait to see what picture will look like playing a 4K disc.

I bought this to replace an older Sony blueray player that was acting up, plus it was on sale for Black Friday! Pros: - excellent picture & responsiveness, compared to my old player - Easy setup - using wired connection - Fast app loading, compared to older player Cons: - for some reason it will not update the firmware over the internet. It says that it can not reach the servers. - Netflix & other apps stopped working because it needed an update, which it wouldn't do over the internet - Had to update manually using usb drive to get the apps to start working again - still wouldn't check for firmware update over the internet.... It's a good player overall, after manually updating the firmware. Maybe they will this get this problem fixed with the next update....

I looked around at many 4K players before opting for the Sony. It has a hefty feel that definitely outdoes the competitors. They were all so cheap feeling and had flimsy trays. This unit has many apps that are easy to use as is the unit itself. The remote is kinda small but works fine and is easy to figure out and use. The picture put out by the player is flawless. It also upscales standard blu ray discs very well. I am very happy with this purchase and would not hesitate to recommend it. Also the price paid at Best Buy, where it was on sale was very reasonable.

This is a great 4K Blu-ray player and will get a lot of use in my household. However, with just about every new 4K display also being smart, I can't help but think that all of that additional processor power could be better utilized or a "dumb" version could be sold for less money. Very solid unit, weighs about as much as 3 of my standard players.

Have not had long enough to rate 5 star, but very pleased. Excellent 4K-UHD picture to compatible TV. Very useful 2nd sound-only HDMI port to route sound to my older non-4K pass-through home entertainment system while routing 4K UHD picture directly to TV. very easy to install, set-up, and update. I have never gone too far wrong with Sony.

Purchased this so that we could stream 4K content to our 4K TV that we’ve had a few years. We also have a few 4K movies. Everything, including our Blu-rays, looks great with this new player. Definitely worth investing in, especially if you have a 4K TV.

I’m pleased with the purchase. I compare this DVD player with a Sony TV vs a Samsung TV Iand DVD player I purchased a couple of years ago. This is far better. The price was higher than I wanted to spend, and I can’t get at some apps that I can with apple mirroring. I hope this ends up being a great DVD player and TV combo. Time will tell.

So far, I like the function of the player. No issues with playing 4K, 3D, and regular blu ray content. All look stunning on my LG oled TV. Sound is paired through a Sony receiver and sounds amazing. Only 2 minor issues give it 4 stars vs. 5 stars (if resolved I will change rating) 1) after watching a movie for about 1.5hrs the sound and video lose sync by maybe a quarter-second. Just pausing the movie and immediately starting to replay seems to remedy the sync issue so not a huge issue. Don't know if there is a setting yet I can play with for this. 2) Sony hasn't supported Dolby HDR yet - hopefully this changes in the future with more content through a software change Issues are minor and don't stop me from recommending over other 4K players. Seems like a sturdy build.

The Sony UBP-X800 is a great and stylish player. It will play all the audio choices you need when paired with proper audio equipment. The video looks stunning when paired with an HDR 4k television or projector. While there might be better players out there this one can't be beat on price. $299.99 is a bargain for this piece of equipment. Plus the player also plays 3-D Blu-ray's if you have invested in them (if you have the proper equipment). The only downsides are the lack of any display on the front of the machine. I love the look without the display, but to each his own.

Bought this particular DVD player to show 4K movies on our 4K tv. We bought a blu ray player 2 years ago and it was only upscalable to 4K and it wouldn’t actually play 4K movies. Picture is great and it is also a 3D dvd as well as regular dvds.

This player is well built and appears durable. The picture quality is excellent as is the ability to stream NetFlix, Amazon Prime and You Tube among others. Note however the streaming sources are limited. That said it is an incredible bargain

Love this new 4K Sony DVD player. Bonus with the purchase is two free 4K movies, which makes the purchase even sweeter...ordered and got movies within a week after setting up my player. The unit itself is very quiet and so simple to set up!

I have tested the player on a number of 4K disks and the results are very impressive indeed. I've also used it on a number of regular Blu-Ray and plain vanilla DVDs. Again the playback is very good,with excellent upscaling. Good purchase.
