Purchased as a gift for my mom and she loved it. Sony always has high quality products. This is exactly what she wanted as an upgrade. It took no time to hook up and start using right away.

Bought this to replace my LG blu ray player that broke after 3 years. I’m not really impressed with this one either, however, it plays my movies and has some apps that I use to stream stuff from.

If you don’t want to spend in a Smart TV replacement and your old “dumb” plasma or led tv still working.... it’s a good idea to probably upgrade something less expensive like your DVD player which will add smart capabilities to your tv....

The player met my requirements of size and cost. It works. The end. All of the digital features are wanting though. I was unable to get screen sharing working. There is no CBS All Access app, and no way to add it. It doesn’t even have Amazon Prime streaming. I also was hoping for the LivingScriptures streaming app, but wasn’t surprised it was missing as its not very mainstream. I don’t anticipate an update any time soon, as the manual makes a lot of excuses about firmware variety.

It is a wonderful HD DVR. The images are so vivid and crystal clear. It arrived earlier than the expected day and was a breeze to hook up. Excellent product for an excellent price!

The machine works fine, but hooking it up and getting it to function easily was no picnic. It is so small and light, the cords attached to it easily move it and it does not read home recorded DVDs at all.

Not a high-quality player by any means, it does its job and not much else. You can control it from an AVR, if you have one, it has some internet-enabled stuff, but really it's underpowered for what it tries to do. It takes forever to do anything on it. Really I bought it because it was cheap and the UHD Blu-ray players are still over $200. It was what, $60 when I bought it? About the price of a couple movies. Sounds about right. If you can swing the cash buy something a little bit more powerful (not just rebranded hardware with updated firmware, but actual quality)

Works flawlessly. Great built-in apps. Some people complained about a parental lock issue preventing the disc bay from opening, but that issue's been fixed with a software update that can be downloaded via WiFi. Overall, we're very happy with our purchase.

My son had a hand me down Blu-Ray player, one without any WiFi or smart features, that was extraordinarily slow. We bought him this player and now he has smart features over WiFi, and much snappier response. He is very happy with this Blu-Ray player.

This player does everything I wanted it to do with ease, except the ability to add a few streaming apps. You are limited to the predefined apps that Sony licenses. Aside from that, it plays disks just fine.

This Blu-ray player upscales to high definition, for those of you who have the new technology 4K HD ultra TVs this Blu-ray would probably not a good option as it does not support 4K overall satisfaction that plays blue ray and also streams smart tvs!

I love this blu-ray player so far! I bought it to replace my LG one, which randomly stopped reading discs. This one has been reading discs with ease, is fast, and has so many apps to choose from including all the favorites like Netflix.

Excellent player and great price point. We didn’t need anything extra fancy since we were putting this with our smart tv. It’s very easy to use and install, no complaints so far!

It is not as good a my Sony 4K bluray player, but it works well enough for a secondary television. It is slow to boot compared to the 4K one.

I own 2 TV that do not offer internet connectivity. I also have a lot of DVD's I've collected over the years. This was a great choice for me. I own 2 of these units and use them frequently.

we bought this For beach house and works great however the preloaded apps are not all the major apps you would expect. Difficulty download new ones on system but over all a good smart DVD player.

This was brought to replace my samsung that wasn't very old. The samsung blue ray dvd didn't let me play Hulu anymore. But it seems they all are.that way. But still very glad we purchased this one.

what else? Most modern players are almost as simple to connect as a toaster - connection and setup were quick, updates are quick on an Ethernet connection and image quality is certainly as good as a home user needs occasionally.

It was easy to set up and program. Took a while to get it to connect to WIFI, but finally got it to work. I like that there is a power on light, last one didn't have any indication it was on.

Works well for a great price. Too bad it doesn’t include an HDMI cable. Purchasing an HDMI cable separately really jacks up the price. Hate to see Sony lose the profit margin to Belkin on the store bought HDMI cable.
