If just need blue ray player this works
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is reason this sold cheap- software /apps are outdated and can not update . Does play blue rays disks but otherwise not very functional

Retuned it. Slow streaming. Terrible Wifi.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just a blue ray player. Streaming is terribly slow and doesn't support WIFI AC. If you need streaming, buy the non wifi one, which is cheaper.

Replaced twice, output failure
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased and had to return within 2 weeks. Second unit worked for almost a full year. Not reliable especially when this was purchased for older person to enable WiFi content.

It will die.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought one of these last year and it worked for almost exactly 12 months. Then we bought this one from Best Buy and it died within the week. We'll be returning it. I don't expect much for the price, and that's what I got!

SLOW and Broke after 11 Months
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I broke after 11 months. While I know it was a cheap player it was slow as molasses uphill in January

Bricked after 1 day -- turns out this is common!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this on a Saturday -- easy to set up with great picture and sound. Firmware said it was already updated. Played a movie that night, then didn't turn player on until the following Friday. It is now bricked -- won't boot past "Sony Blu-Ray" screen, won't power down, won't respond to remote. Turns out this has been a recurring issue for years: https://ap.community.sony.com/s/question/0D50B00004ILBM1SAP/bdp-s3700-stuck-on-bluray-screen?language=en_US It's going back to the store tomorrow. So disappointed in Sony and needless to say I will have to look at either LG or Samsung.

Sony blue ray wifi apps
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not what I wanted. It was supposed to have the HULU and Amazon apps installed. It doesn't and you cant add apps to it. It does play blue rays, so it performs as it should that way.

Sound quality is real poor
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound quality produced by this player is very poor. I played mostly concert DVDs on this unit. For those it played fine. However when played movies the voice in the movie was so low I could not hear it at all. The music and other background sounds were much louder. I thought I had defective DVDs. Instead, the defect was in the player. I would not recommend this player to anyone.

Not good
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This item still freezes up like the previous 2 devices I've had from Sony, plus I can't get Hulu on this device. Not happy, really considering returning this product and buy a different brand all together.

Worst for streaming video
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've tried two of these units and both behaved the same. Setup is simple and fast, but video streaming freezes and requires a restart to continue. Very dissatisfied overall.

Player locks up when using streaming services
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had 2 of these players now and both have issues. It will latch up when using streaming services and require unplugging the player and plugging back in before it will work. I thought it was a fluke with the first one as I typically have good luck with Sony, but this model appears to have an issue. Have not had and issue playing disks, but streaming has issues. I would think they would have better apps as well.

Issues after a week
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After about a week of owning, was noticing that the unit was having issues turning off. Not sure if this was related to the ‘Quick Startup’ feature (which was nice while the blue ray played worked), but shortly after it was having issues turning off, then it stopped turning on altogether. Basically it became a brick. On top of that, because of Sony, it doesn’t have Amazon streaming or Disney + streaming. Which we were ok with, but it didn’t end up mattering as the whole player went kaput. Better off finding a different player.

Very few apps, for a Smart DVD player
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Box claims 250+ apps. There were about 10 preloaded apps. That's all you get. No way to download more; called Samsung & they said that device only comes with what's loaded on it. The device cannot retrieve additional apps.

Dissappointed
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would not recommend this DVD player. You need to remove the dvd from the player in order for your tv to function properly after you’ve watched a DVD. It has been temperamental from the start.

Not as expected.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We tried out this Blu-ray player and was hoping it would be an answer to prayers, but it skips and lags all over the place. We are still on the lookout for a good performing budget Blu-ray player.

Sony makes garbage blue ray players
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this player about six months ago. Had all sorts of glitches right out of the box but we never got around to returning it to the store (pain in the a.) So fast forward (ahem) to today and now it's locked up and won't work at all. Just got off the phone with Sony. It's still under warranty. They'll replace it but why would I want another one of these crappy players?
