Do not bother
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The streaming capabilities on this device are excruciatingly poor. It seems like the components in this unit weren’t anticipated to handle the amount of data from streaming services. Purchased the device last fall, and have had constant freezing when streaming. The only way to correct the problem is to unplug the unit, and start over. I have had positive experiences with Sony products in the past, but they really messed the bed on this one. Today, the unit stopped working so I am going to cut my losses.

Worst device ever.

First one I thought maybe it was a fluke but the second one has the exact same problem. Completely unreliable operation. I have wasted so much time trying to get device to work after it freezes in midoperation, or won't turn on, or reboots itself losing all the settings and requiring me to enter wireless key yet again and log in yet again to netflix and amazon. Did I mention this is the worst device ever? Sony should be ashamed to put their name on this product. I'm trading this in for a Samsung.

Does not support Hulu - False advertising
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product to replace an old samsung smart blueray player that would no longer support Hulu. I made absolutely sure that the box said that it supported Hulu and when we got it home and hooked up, everything else works except this unit also keeps saying that "hulu is not supported on this device" Sony needs to either come out with a update so this will support Hulu or get it off the box that it does support it. Thats false advertising. This was the whole reason I bought it in the first place.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.after first star up & updating , will not connect to wi fi internet on start up . return product three times same issue. not my internet connection but product problem , Have to reboot the unit every time to connect to wi fi. the only thing is that when it does work after reboot the streaming is fast and with out problems. Sony what happen with is product your can better then this !

Painfully slow and problematic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.It was buggy and slow from the very beginning, and it seems like the longer I had it working, the slower it would get, almost like there was some type of internal memory that kept getting full. I kept having to unplug it, wait, plug it back in and start over. I took it back and replaced it with the Sony BDP-S6700, which is lightning fast compared to this unit. Buy the S6700, you'll be much happier with it.

2 Units Have Failed Me This Year...

Lengthy phone calls and chats with Sony customer service got nowhere. Returned the player as it was under warranty. Now in December, the replacement unit (1) does not power on unless I 1st disconnect the HDMI cable connected to the TV (and sometimes that has to be done several times), and (2) the Sirius XM app has trouble loading (it just took 2 reboots and 30 minutes of loading to get the app to load this evening). Guess I'll be buying a replacement soon...

Stopped Working after 1 month

Kept getting an 'Unable to play this disc. check that the disc can be played by this unit and there are no scratches or fingerprints on the disc". I tried 5 different discs and all got the same error after all playing fine days earlier. I'm taking it back today.

Do NOT buy the Sony BDP-S3700

And, based on problems reported in Sony's on-line "community" with other BDP-37xx models, I'd stay away from those as well. I bought two of these units in early 2016. One failed within warranty - Sony honored the warranty and fixed it. Second one failed just barely outside of warranty, and they won't replace it. I won't spend a cent on fixing a clearly poorly made product.

Defective Product

We did not use until end of December, worked fine the first couple of times used, but now 3 weeks after using the player turns off in the middle of playing a movie. This happened twice while using the Netflix app, once playing a DVD and once playing a Blu-ray. Of course this happened outside of Best buys return policy window. After no help from the online order customer service, I will take my electronic purchases to Frys or Walmart.

Piece of JUNK!

I set it up, and didn't have any issues. I used it twice. I tried to watch a movie today, and the picture goes black. It goes and comes back. The sound seems okay, but the picture goes black every few seconds. Still have the receipt, but it's worthless with a 15 day return policy. Never again!

I got a dud

I purchased this and, since I was moving things around in my home, did not open or set up until 2 months after purchasing. It refuses to connect to my wifi despite numerous attempts, giving me a "failed" message. It won't play blu rays either. I was also not happy that I had to go back to the store and buy an hdmi cable. Since it has been past the return date policy, I cannot return or get my money back. Pretty annoyed.

DO NOT BUY!!!

It's total junk! I have had 2 of these in the past 6 weeks and both quit working after the first use. It will turn on but it completely frozen on the blu ray screen. Tried the 10 second reset and nothing works. This last one is 2 days past the return window and best buy says they can't do anything for me so I'm just going to throw it away and buy something else.

Very disappointed - stopped playing discs

I've tried the troubleshooting from the Sony website, but nothing worked. I'm very disappointed that the quality seems so poor to have stopped working so quickly. The main reason I bought this was to play DVDs and Blu-ray discs.

Misleading specifications

I bought this product because it is advertised as a Blu ray player with built in wifi and that it's able to use the Hulu streaming service. Both are false. You still need a router of some sort for this device to connect to the internet and it does not include Hulu.

Have to unplug . Next day will work for 5 minutes maybe . That suggests faulty chip failing with heat . SO disappointing . My previous DVD players great . Needed blue ray , this is junk . Will try one more with upscalling , maybe that one will work . Keep your receipts , use immediantly and return to store if acting up .

Didn't last much more than 2 years

When it worked it was fine. Nothing fancy. I just want to be able to play movies. It had one job and it didn't do that job nearly long enough. I do not recommend this product.

THREE failed units

The players either become nonfunctional (no power on, no eject, etc) or they lock up with "Child Lock Active" notices that you can't get rid of. The warranty doesn't reset with replacement so now we're just out of luck. Won't be buying a SONY Blu Ray again.

Don’t buy it

Remote

This means that you have to get it home and all set up before you realize that you can't change the volume, mute, the imput or other functions without the constant switching back and forth between remotes because your TV isn't one of the few on their list. I am so disappointed in this produst. The apps load very slowly, streaming constantly freezes or shuts off completely. The item has reset itself several times and now it just does not work at all- I purchased less than a year ago. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
