I bought the Sony ULT Field 1 for beach days and backyard hangouts, and I’m honestly blown away. For such a small speaker, the sound is massive. The bass hits hard (especially when you press the ULT button), and it doesn’t get distorted even when you crank up the volume. Battery life has been great so far — I used it all afternoon and it still had plenty of charge left. It’s lightweight, easy to carry, and the little strap makes it perfect for clipping onto my backpack when I’m on the go. What really sold me is the fact that it’s waterproof and dustproof. I’ve already taken it to the lake and had no issues at all, even when it got splashed a bit. Super durable and solid build quality. Bluetooth connection is quick and stable — no dropouts or delays. I might even buy a second one to try the stereo pairing feature. Pros: • Big bass for the size • Long battery life • Waterproof & rugged • Easy to carry • Great value for the price Cons: – Not super loud for very large outdoor spaces – No built-in voice assistant (not a dealbreaker for me) If you want a portable speaker that brings serious sound without taking up much space, this is it. I purchased both the JBL Flip 6 and ULT Field 1 to compare the sound. Here’s my verdict: Both speakers sound very similar. I wouldn’t say one is a clear winner over the other. I think the JBL outputs slightly more bass with EQ on max compared to the Field 1 with ULT mode on. But it’s very close. However, I enjoy the midrange on the Sony more. Guitars and vocals sound a bit more “forward” compared to the Flip 6. Highs are very similar, can’t hear much difference. Volume is also comparable. Both speakers do a fine job filling a small room. I will probably keep both.

It's a great speaker, much better than others in the same segment. I was comparing this one to JBL, and Sony definitely wins; for the price and quality, it's worth it. The only thing I wish was possible is to adjust the equalizer within the Sony app. I also wish you could connect it to other speakers for a home theater setup or with Alexa. That’s the only part that disappointed me a bit—I expected it to be smarter. Other than that, the sound is great and the battery life is excellent.

Pleasantly surprised at the sound quality of such a compact subwoofer/speaker. Very stylish easy to operate and was a good investment.

I recently got the Sony ULT Field 1 and loved it so much that I ended up picking up the bigger ULT Field 3 as well. At higher volumes, the ULT Field 3 definitely delivers a much deeper bass compared to the Field 1, and the vocals come through clearer too. I think ult field 3 is a sweet spot in size not too small not too large to put it in a back pack. Overall, I’m really impressed with this speaker. Even though I also have the JBL Authentics 500, I find myself constantly reaching for the ULT Field 3—it just makes music so enjoyable to listen to. I really appreciate the ULT button. Some people say it’s pointless because they never feel the need to turn it off, but personally, when I’m watching videos, I like to switch it off to reduce the bass and keep the focus more on vocals. If there’s one thing I wish it had, it would be a USB audio connection. I know JBL’s Charge 6 includes this feature, so I was hoping Sony would too. But other than that, in terms of sound quality and design, I think the Sony ULT Field 3 is easily the best portable speaker for summer 2025.

It strikes a balance between portability, sound quality, and durability. For its size, it has great sound quality. It does not stand out for its volume level because it prioritizes sound quality, especially in its bass tones. For this price, it was the best choice. I went looking for a JBL and I am happy with my decision to buy the Sony. I recommend.

The Sony ULT FIELD 1 Wireless Speaker is awesome for its size! It’s super portable, tough enough for the outdoors, and the sound is way better than you’d expect—especially if you hit that ULT bass button. It’s waterproof and dustproof, so you can take it anywhere without worrying. The battery holds up pretty well, but if you crank up the bass, it might not last all day. On its own, it plays in mono, but you can pair two of these speakers together for real stereo sound, which is a cool bonus. For the price and how easy it is to use, it’s a great pick for music on the go. Definitely recommend if you want something small but mighty!

I was looking for a mini speaker to take on vacation and I ran into this one. At first I was not really feeling the speaker on the demo display. I actually had another speaker I wanted but I was on a budget. When I got home and played it through my cell phone.... Man it shocked me. It did not play no where like this in the store. The bass is sufficient when you switch to the ULT and the highs and mids are spot on. For a speaker this size, I give it 2 thumbs up. The only think I dislike is the charging cord. Too short. Sony could have done better on that part.

Great sound for the price. I also like the auto shut off to spare the battery when you haven't played anything on it for awhile.

With the bass boost on I get 9 hours of play time. If I use it without the bass boost I get almost triple that time. Great quality sound even with the boost off. DEFINATELY well worth the money.

As always it is hard to beat Sony for sound quality. The Sony-ULT Field 1 Wireless Speaker certainly performed well and surprised my expectations. Then to have caught it on sale made my day. I waited till after Christmas hoping for a mark down in price. It will be nice when Christmas comes this year and I can play Christmas music while the decorations are up. I have already found my place to hide the speaker, but the sound seems to be coming from everywhere in the room. I know it is waterproof, but I probably will only use it in the house. It should last me a very long time that way. I took a picture of the speaker with my hand above it so you can see the size. I was really surprised at how much sound the speaker puts out and the quality. You can push the ULT button on top and it adds base to the sound. It's great for all those people who like the beat or extra base in their music.

The best speaker I've ever bought for around a hundred bucks. Actually I bought a another home sound system for $250 and the Sony I just bought that's in the picture down below is just as good sounding. Maybe just a little different, but it is amazing and I take it everywhere I go. I even bought one for a friend because she didn't have a good speaker and she loves it. Great gift or something wonderful to own. I almost took the $250 system back and bought another Sony field speaker like the one in the picture because it's so good. And I wouldn't say it unless I mean it because I'm very serious about my music. I bought a few other $100 speakers from Best buy and they weren't bad but they didn't have the full quality deep sound that this one has.

Highly recommend the clarity and Bass. Very good for medium size house party or gathering. Ideal to carry with less weight and reasonable size.
