I have Sony headphones and the same app controls the settings and manages firmware updates for this speaker as well. I bought this for my office where I couldn't use a smart speaker, and it looks professional and easily fills the space with sound. I just wish the sound control were a little more granular.

Regarding the "granular" sound control, we hear you! While the physical buttons have set steps, you can actually get much finer control over your volume and 7-band EQ levels directly within the app's slider interface.

The ULT Field 1 more than fills the bill. Super portable while still delivering superior sound and plenty of volume this little speaker is a winner. Sony sound with their bluetooth speakers is the best I have heard.

We had another Sony model for several years and loved it. This is a step or 2 up. Never any glitches. Easy in every way and great sound and we definitely use it. We play table games every morning for a few hours and listen to our Rock N Roll on our Sony.

What I dont like is that you gotta keep it charged. Understand that the battery life lasts a long time...but if you dont remember to keep it charged it wont be yhere when you need it most! I love the sound quality and the bass brings an enriched sound to what might be an otherwise boring audio experience.

The bigger version has more bass and light color options but also twice the size as the 3. The 3 is really light weight and portable and comes with a carry strap.

Sony has been consistently providing bluetooth speaker options that surpass my expectations. For a speaker at this pricepoint if you are looking for high quality over pure dbs then i absoltely reccomend this item. It still produces excellent volume sufficient for overcoming both ambient environmental noise as well as group conversations or active populated rooms. Easily heard in other rooms of a home or in a crowded room.
