    Great for a Work/Meeting Tablet

I bought this to perform mostly for ongoing meetings for different purposes in a large, complicated project. I can store background material, deliverables from consultants, different stages of drawings, contracts, etc.; along with prior meeting notes. I can take notes in meetings, and research background to answer questions; I have it all with me. It fires up quickly, so I can show up, be ready to go, and shut down. Being convertible, I can keep it flat unless I need to use the keyboard. It has a stylus as an UID, but will also to take handwritten notes as needed. Battery life has been good, I have not run out yet. Several people have asked to look at it, get more details. I considered several tablets before settling on this one, and I have no complaints. And then on the weekends, where I am visiting my grand-daughters, and may work a little, answer my emails, read the news... the kids use it to access a couple of apps they love (Tinkerbelle of course). This makes grandpa the coolest ever.

    Sony nailed it!

Sony really got this product right! After going through the Sony flip and Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro, this product met and exceeded my expectations for a business quality solution. Tablet laptop hybrid machine that is refined and a workhorse. Internet speed is a little spotty at times and that is the only downside so far after a month or so of ownership and use. Windows 8.1 pro is a fantastic OS regardless of the haters out there. Once you get used to it, you will find it to be intuitive and quite user friendly.

Never recommend it for anyone. I returned it back after 10 days. It's not a strong laptop and it's too expensive for a tablet.

Solid performer, but not for everyone

This laptop is screaming fast and has good integration in apps/tablet mode and "desktop" laptop mode. The pullout screen is solid and liftable with one hand. I like the keyboard feel quite a bit and the touch screen response as well. The battery charges up much faster than I expected, in about an hour. 256gb plus expansion is great for storage. The touchpad as noted in other reviews is small. Its fine for simple movements but not comfortable to do real work. I use a Bluetooth mouse instead. The wireless adapter seems weaker than normal. I haven't put the pen through its paces to comment on that component. To travel, I bought the designated Sony case. It's quite well made, sleek and fits perfectly. In this way I haven't been concerned with a large beautiful screen getting damaged in the least. I think this case is important if you plan to travel with this laptop. This was a premium purchase. It does feel premium and the quality of the components, speed and storage, but I still wince at the total cost. I want 4 years out of this laptop, and I think I can get that. Windows 8.1 takes getting used to, that was my biggest hurdle. This laptop hybrid though is a super strong contender to get the most out-of it. The Sony Playmemories / album integration finally works really well and fun to use. Since this laptop has been out for a year Windows OS and Vaio updates are now full baked, which I was pleased to have fully baked. I've used this for over a month and quite happy. You must be prepared to invest time in Win 8.1 and adapting old habits to a multiple input device, (when to use touch screen, mouse, pen, touchpad, physical keyboard, onscreen keyboard) otherwise it won't be a good fit. Much greater learning curve and optimization time requirement to maximize the benefits with this OS and laptop compared to earlier generations.

    Great design, Poor function

Bought this computer because I loved the specs and design. Ordered through Best Buy online (not carried in stores). Arrived within one week. Opened box and was excited to get started. Loved the design, easy to manipulate from laptop to tablet. Problem was, I could NEVER access the internet. WiFi always said connected, but "limited". I thought maybe this was just a problem at home, so I took it to work and the same icon message appeared. Finally called Sony. I spent roughly 45 minutes with a very friendly tech assistant. We went through all the basic possibilities and even "restore". No improvement. We decided to ship it back to Sony (which they did for free). After one week, computer was back on my door step. However, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED!!! I still could not access wireless internetr from anywhere. Took it back to Best Buy store, returned it. Bought Lenovo Y2 Pro.
