I was looking for a pair of ear buds that didn’t have the long piece that hangs out of the ear like AirPods do. I remembered the pair of over ear headphones I got my wife several years back from Sony the whm-1000 and figured I would check out the Sony earbuds. These things are awesome, super comfortable, the noise cancelling works well, sounds great, and fits in my ears wellS the only thing I regret now is not spending the extra 100 dollars for the even better pair of Sony earbuds. 5/5

Sony hit is out of the park again with the WF-C700N Wireless Noise Canceling Ear Buds! I've been a life-long fan of Sony products, and here they continue to deliver on that tradition. They have been known for their 'Mega Bass' for years, and these small ear buds deliver a huge punch for the size. Opening the eco-friendly packaging, no plastics, but recycled cardboard throughout, you get a minimalist design for these ear buds. A charging cord, instructions and a couple of different sized ear tips are all that are in the package. There is one multifunction button on each side and you do have to read the instructions and memorize the number of presses to control the ear buds. Initially, setting them up was a little bit of a challenge. Holding down the buttons looking for the bluetooth lights, I didn't get any, like you would when normally pairing bluetooth products. Instead, you need to download the Sony Headphones app, which makes pairing and controlling them so much easier. Once downloaded, you can pair the headphones fairly easily - I say this because it still took two attempts for them to be fully recognized. This is my reason for docking one star in the review, as the initial out of the box experience wasn't straightforward like other bluetooth products I've used/paired with - they weren't intuitive. HOWEVER - once paired, the experience gets exponentially better. You have complete control over how the ear buds sound. You are taken through a listening experience in the app, where you are given options of what you are listening to, to absolutely fine tune the listening experience. You don't just have a 3 stage equalizer (bass, mid, high), it's 5 stages, but guides you through, playing music, and offering deep preference options. I was really impressed with that. Pressing the buttons on the ear buds gives you control over the volume, track playing, play, pause, and also the active noise canceling. You can enhance the sounds around you, so that you can still be aware of your surroundings, or you can 'cancel' them out and become fully immersed in your music. And talking of that, the bass that these tiny ear buds puts out is stellar. Very impressed that something so small can produce this amount of bass. Very impressive. They also have the ability to adapt the noise canceling functionality on the go. So for example, if you are sitting at your desk, you can have the noise canceling active, but when you stand up and move around, it activates the heightened listening, so that you can still hear your music but be aware of your surroundings. Go back to your desk and they revert to full noise canceling again. Great feature you never knew you needed, but so valuable. And range while walking around, is so impressive! I have a 4000sqft house, my office is in the middle of the house. I was able to walk upstairs and downstairs without any loss of signal from my phone, where other headphones I use would have dropped signal. I was really impressed with the distance I could walk away from my phone, with solid connectivity at all times! Overall - apart from the pairing issue at the very beginning, and not knowing if they were powered on or not (no lights or indicators on the ear buds), they have been an incredible set of ear buds and will become my go-to set to use daily. And talking of that - you can pair to more than one product (up to two) with this. So you can have them connected to your computer AND your phone at the same time, and they will select between the two as you receive phone calls or as you work. I have no hesitation in recommending these ear buds. Great product!

I have to speak to the color of the earbuds before addressing quality and features because everyone who saw me wearing them asked me, "What are those things in your ears?! They are huge!" That was usually followed by "Take them out and never wear them again." The best feature about the form factor is that they are extremely lightweight. The color of the item I received did not match the color of the item I requested. The picture showed black ear buds. Then ones that arrived can only be described as "mint green." I do not know that I would receive the same reaction if a were female or someone with hair long enough to hide the earbuds, so I'll summarize by saying that I do not believe this is a good choice for most males with short hair. The set up was fairly simple and fast. My phone's Bluetooth was able to recognize and pair with these Sony WF-C700N very quickly. There are three noise canceling settings. The first is Off, the second is Ambient for use such as when you're walking outdoors, and the third is Noise Cancelling. I cannot say that the NC effect was very detectable - a big disappointment. The app is very powerful. It allows you to see each earbud battery level individually. The very first thing it does in setup is analyze your ears by having you scan them with your camera. The idea is to analyze your ear shape and adjust the sound to your individual ear. Because the sound quality is so good, I cannot tell if it is from the features of the earbud or the adaptation to my ears. The equalizer function also works very well. The app guides you through a selection of options from you select one, and then continue as it fine tunes the sound to your liking. The bass was to my liking. I also like the badge-driven learning process. You earn badges based on performing different activities such as using the Adaptive sound control, Ambient sound control, Equalizer, and 360 reality audio. In summary, if it wasn't for the color. I would say these are excellent earbuds. They are pricey, but they are Sony quality. I'm going to consider exchanging them for the black version and see if I get the same reaction regarding the size. – perhaps they will not be so noticeable if they are not min green.

These are one of the best earbuds I have tried so far when it comes to sound quality. Noise canceling works amazingly, even in the loudest of crowds, and the barter life is excellent. The only one complaint, however, is where the control buttons are positioned (pause and play, ambient sound and noise cancelling controls), they are on the very top of each earbud, they’re pretty big, and very sensitive, so when laying on the side, they activate instantly which can be really irritating. I’d recommend these earbuds for sports, or just basically anything else, except for laying down on your side. Additionally, the case can scratch pretty easily, so if that’s something you care about, I’d recommend getting a case. Other than this, they work great.

The sound is good quality. It cancels out most noise, such as someone talking on a speakerphone, you would just hear muffled noise. However, if you are using them to go to the gym they might fall out easily if you sweat a lot. Overall, they are pretty comfy. Most of the time I forget I have them on, or think I have them on when I don't. Also, I love that the app tells you the battery life for both earbuds and the case.

I have rotten luck with earbuds. Wired, wireless…doesn’t matter. My ear canals must be smaller than the average person’s because earbuds don’t stay in my ears. The last pair that I purchased, the Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, are by far my favorite pair up to this point. The gorgeous violet color is what attracted me to them, and they perform well. However, they constantly fall out of my ears. If any earbud falls out of your ears, they are useless, no matter how pretty they are. The Sony WF-C700N are more utilitarian in looks, however these earbuds have so many features that I don’t know where to begin. The first thing for me was…they STAY IN MY EARS! I was shocked. I tested them while walking in a mass merchandise store, listening to my phone. I had no issues with the bud(s) slipping out of my ears while moving (not only walking, but reaching for items on shelves, reaching down into the cart, etc.). That’s only scratching the surface on these earbuds. They are compact, so they fit easily in my purse. Because the case is oblong vs. square like my Samsung buds’ case is, it fits better in small purses. I had issues with the initial setup, though. I followed the instructions, but the Headphones app was not sensing the buds for some reason. I tried to connect via Bluetooth and the phone didn’t read the buds that way, either. There wasn’t really anything for me to do differently, as they go into pairing mode when the buds were removed from the case. I ended up having to restart my phone for it to finally sync. Once I had the app working, I found that it was full of features. The app will sense what environment you are in and adjust the sound quality accordingly. My environment seemed to always default to Ambient Sound. You can also have the app analyze your ear shape to have the earbuds perform customized to your ear. However, you can only use this feature with certain pre-approved apps. The only app I had heard of was Tidal, and I’m not a subscriber to that service. I tried using the 360 Reality Audio app to analyze my ears. The analysis was completed; the 360 app, though, is for live audio. It asks you to put in ticket codes, which I didn’t have. I was able to try listening to a free music video on the 360 app for testing. The sound was good, but I didn’t notice anything that would lead me to believe that the sound was “tailored” to my specific ear type. I could go on, but this would be less of a review and more of an essay. If you are a basic user, these are a great pair of earbuds. If you are more of an audiophile, then you will have many features to tweak your experience.

These earbuds are amazing. I've had a lot of pairs to include Beats and those didn't even come close to the Sony earbuds. The battery life and sound quality are fantastic with these. Not to mention the app for the earbuds lets you customize what the buttons do or even the sound EQ. Im definitely a Sony guy for life.

I now basically have these either on my or in my ears. Good sound. Great battery life. Lightweight and stylish. My only counterpoint is how bit the buttons are makes laying down with them a little challenging and also I believe no waterproofing but I haven't risked them.

Great noise canceling and EQ settings. The app is easy to use and great for adjusting the sound and settings. The ability to connect to multiple devices is extremely useful. They are very comfortable too. The only thing I miss is wireless charging. But since the battery lasts a very long time, it's no biggie not having wireless charging. Sony did a great job with these earbuds.

I use them everyday for most of the day, at work, at the gym! Has great battery life, fits in your ear perfectly, has great sound, excellent range, love them!

Excellent purchase. Highly satisfied with the sound quality and battery life of these headphones. Very clear and loud, and the microphone on these even works through a beanie. Comfortable as well. A little bit hard to connect from time to time but it’s still worth every penny.

Super comfortable earbuds. The quality of the sound is unmatched. I got this to replace a Bose earbud I have which still works but they are pretty uncomfortable. Noise cancellation is pretty good. I recommend this product to anyone looking for earbuds since the price is pretty good, the sound is excellent and the best of all is the comfort in the ear.

These are my second Sony wireless earbuds. The first ones (WF-C500) are still working perfect as well. Enough bass for my needs and the battery life is fantastic. I can wear them all day at work and they're still going strong. I prefer earbuds that fit entirely inside my ear and these are very comfortable. Great earbuds without a crazy price tag.

The Sony - WF-C700N Truly Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphones are solid & affordable option for anyone shopping for ear buds that are markedly less expensive than Sony's top-of-the-line models. Pairing and setup was easy across the three different mobile devices I use; a Galaxy S23+ - a Sony NW-ZX707 Walkman and an Xperia Pro-I. The Sony headphone app is well designed and easy to use, making the process of setting up the WF-C700Ns very easy and intuitive to do. One thing I noticed with these particular buds is that the firmware update process was much quicker to apply & complete vs. my other Sonys. Hats off to Sony for improving that facet! The sound quality is highly customizable with the Sony app and no matter if you use one of many EQ profiles or simply leave it entirely off - the these ear buds sound fantastic than the lower-tiered Sony offerings of just a few years back. Everyone's hearing profile and preferences are different but I personally find the Sony 'Excited' preset to perform the best - no matter the genre of music listened to. The app gives clearly understandable status of the battery levels for each individual 'bud', along with the charging case. These noise cancelling in-ear headphones punch well above their pay grade. Clean & clear treble, solid & articulate midrange and plenty of well executed base. Certainly not the best noise cancelling performance I've experienced but definitely good and more than adequate. I like the way these fit compared to ANY of the other Sony ear buds I own or have tried. There are light weight, well balanced and they stay-put! My only gripe is the communication lag between the mechanical button functions and the device being used. But this is a small nit and considering the price point, it's acceptable. Capacitive touch buttons would have been appreciated but I get why those special features are assigned to the higher-end products from Sony. These are solid for what they list price for and will be even more attractive on-sale. Pros: Excellent sound quality Good noise cancellation performance Plenty of volume, clarity & bass punch Very comfortable to wear and they do 'stay put' Really like the Sony Headphone app that gives good status levels and ease of control Excellent set of pre-set EQ settings to choose from and the ability to manual contour your own profile Didn't experience any connection issues or drop in sound quality Battery life appears to be per-spec Cons: Not a huge fan of the integrated, mechanical buttons - but they do work No 'ear sensors' to automatically put your listening on pause Despite these two cost saving configuration features, I didn't penalize the score You get what you pay for...

I have been using it for a year and it still works great! I use it daily and only have to charge the case every other day. Sounds great and the noise cancelling is noticeable.

I love my new Sony Wireless headphones. Most of them do not fit my ears as they easily fall off. Sony does a great job fitting different types of ears, plus great sound quality. David B is very knowledgeable about technology and he was very patient helping me find the perfect set of headphones. After 6 months of use, these are holding up well. A little bigger than the skullcandy that I had before, but not too large. Sound quality is great. Battery life is pretty good. Case design is good. I have not had a chance to fully customize the settings but the app is helpful. My main issue is that the headphones don't cancel ambient noise on my end during calls as well as I would hope. The person on the other end of the call can hear everything.

The Sony WF-C700N Truly Noise Canceling Wireless In-Ear Headphones are well made and comfortable due to their ergonomic design. They’re very compact, easy to use, and easy to travel with. I use these Sony earbuds with my Google phone for listening to YouTube videos, Spotify music, audio messages, and wireless calling. I love how small the case is and the sage color is very nice. These are easily becoming a new favorite among my wireless earbuds. The Noise Canceling and Ambient Noise features work very well! I tested these earbuds in a noisier space in my home and I could really tell how much noise was actually blocked out. I was surprised at how much noise was being piped into the earbuds with the Ambient Sound feature turned on. I could hear my fan and AC running very loudly. I was glad to be able to adjust the ambient sound level because the default was too loud for my liking. My TV was on while I used Ambient Sound and it felt like I was plugged into the TV - that’s how powerful this feature is. I used the mobile app to adjust the ambient sound level as well as the earbud button commands. I liked being able to switch between Noise Canceling and Ambient Sound with the click of a button so I made sure that command was accessible on both earbuds. Sometimes I’ll wear just one earbud, and these Sony headphones allow you to use either earbud by itself. As far as Bluetooth goes, the earbuds remember the last device paired via Bluetooth, and it’s easy to pair to new devices as well. The 15-hour battery is great for me because I’ve used the earbuds for about 4 hours over the course of 5 days and don’t anticipate needing to recharge until next week. This package comes with a short charging cable as well as extra earbud sizes for a more personal touch. I’ve been a fan of Sony’s Ambient Sound feature since my first pair of over-the-ear headphones so I was excited to try it out with these wireless in-ear headphones. Overall, I am really happy with these Sony headphones and can recommend them as a great, high-quality product.
