Had both previous pairs of XM3's & XM4's and i wasnt sure if these could top them but i was definitely wrong. Sound Quality 10/10 Great sound quality as always, i feel the 1 thing to improve on would be the ambient and not saying that its bad because its still fantastic but compared to the Airpod Max, there ambient is a tad bit better, but still works insanely great! Bass 10/10 Sony giving us the option to adjust the bass through the app is great. I believe the bass is around the same quality as the XM4's except with this new sound quality i feel like it fits it very well and has an overall good match with it. Design 9/10 Only because i personally liked the XM4's ability to twist and fold into a nice case. The case the XM5's come with are still good and have a nice magnet pocket to hold your cord accessories or anything that you want. Battery Life 10/10 Super fast charging speeds so you dont have to worry about 1 hour charges. 3 min charge = 3 HOURS OF PLAYTIME!

This was my first non-beats over-ear headphones that I purchased. For starters, I love how the headphones feel in the hands and how easy it is to use the Sony app. You don’t have to download the app but I like the feature where you can simultaneously pair this with 2 devices. (My iPhone and iMac, and switching between them from listening to Spotify on iPhone to switching to watching a YouTube video on the iMac was a very nice seamless transition) I have no issues with the battery life whatsoever. The carrying case still feels slimmer than my egg shaped beats case and I can fit it easier in a backpack than the beats. Sound and fit are one of the most subjunctive things to review. I didn’t know that it is recommended by Sony to fully extend the headphones and then put those over your ears and then shorten the headband where it sits on top of your head. What I find best is to approximate how much I need to extend them on both sides and then put them on and do a few slight adjustments to both sides. If you are somewhat OCD like me, I might be difficult to extend both sides at the same length (something that I never worried about on the beats) the Sonys fit closer to your ears with little cushion compared to the beats. The fit feels nice and has a modern-feel to them. The sound on the beats (studio 3’s) is a bit louder and in your face compared to the Sony’s. I really do appreciate the custom sound settings (although I just leave the custom EQ off). You can totally feel and hear the little subtleties of certain tracks and the tracks that stand out are the bass heavy songs and the instrumental songs. Mid ranged songs like rock and roll are clean to my ears but I do miss the beats in your face sound while blasting rock n roll. The star off from 5 stars is that this headphone should be priced around 300-350 dollars. I bought it on sale and thought it was at least worth it for 350. As a Apple fanboy myself, that explains the constant beats headphones in the past, I don’t feel like I ever have to use my beats headphones anymore (they were shedding in the ear cups and the plastics were cracking on the hinge parts).

These Sony headphones are the absolute best purchase I could have made! The sound cancellation on these are absolutely supreme, along with the Ambient mode it works wonders no matter where I bring them they fit perfectly. The battery life is beyond AMAZING charges in minutes and stays alive for hours.

The sound on these are fantastic. It has rich Bass. I’m impressed with the options that that it has the app provides a lot of different settings that I never would have thought of with other headsets much more customizable than my Apple AirPods. It also has good integration with different apps and your phone. If you have a Sony TV it has excellent benefits to be able to watch TV using your headset, it integrates really well with Sony and will even pause your show when you take off your headset. The headset is also very light surprisingly light. It does run hot not in physical heat, but in sweetness if it’s hot outside. There’s even some kind of AR game that you can play using the headset. I’m interested in learning more about this as I haven’t had a chance to play with it much yet. If you do have a Sony TV and a PlayStation five you can actually use these as a gaming headset. It won’t have microphone, but you can use your PlayStation 5 controller microphone, but you will get the full surround sound audio so you can still hear those footsteps in COD. Long battery life

The main highlight of these headphones is definitely the noise cancellation. It is so awesome and possibly the best headphones in terms of noise cancellation. They easily block out noise in my household when I’m doing homework, and I use them when I play video games as well, when I say they are awesome, they ARE awesome. Ever since purchasing I use them everyday, and they’re quite addicting to use as well. Another thing is they are lightweight. I promise you when you hold them it almost feels like you’re holding nothing, that’s how light they are! When putting them on as well, you barely can tell that you’re wearing them, they don’t leave your ears sore or anything like that, I’ve worn them for hours and not once did I have to adjust them or take them off because I was getting tired of them. They are worth it, trust me.

These headphones are the best all-around option after comparing them to other flagship models. While the Momentum 4s offer superior sound and bass, the comfort level of the XM5s is unmatched. The exceptional sound quality can be further customized with the adjustable EQ settings. The case is slightly larger, but it fits well in a school bag, contrary to some negative feedback. The microphone quality, sound quality, comfort, and price (I purchased them for $300) are all excellent. These headphones excel in all areas, providing an exceptional music listening experience for extended periods. While the Momentum 4s may have a slight edge in sound quality, they caused discomfort after prolonged use. The XM5s, on the other hand, offer a well-balanced sound profile with an optimal balance of bass and treble. In conclusion, the XM5s are a must-have for anyone seeking a high-quality audio experience.

Amazing headphones, very confortable with great noise canceling and very good sound quality, on the higher end for price but worth it as they will last for years. Only negatives are they do not fold down like the xm4s and xm6s and can get greasy quite easily

Headphone build quality is great. Nice and clean seamless design. Earcups leather feels soft and comfy. Sounds are amazing but earcups a too shallow. It does not feel immersive so you will have to turn up the volume a little higher. Battery life is wonderful specially for long travel.

These headphones are incredibly good at canceling noise. Even windy days will sound like the air is still. Bass is very strong and can be adjusted in the Sony app. I do have some complaints though. They don’t fold as small as the xm4s, they don’t lay on your chest ear cups down (see photo), and they make the gesture sounds with the gestures turned off. The last one is the worst thing about the headphones, which I think says good things about them overall. Again, best ANC I have ever experienced. They are also very comfortable!

These have great noise cancellation and ambient sound settings. I also like the way they fit. They're not too heavy and don't cause me pain after wearing them for several hours even with glasses on. Call/mic, and sound quality are great too. I do wish the battery life was longer, and haven't found a great way to switch between devices without the app (they prioritize my laptop over my phone even if my laptop has no audio and my phone does). I'm sure there's a shortcut to this that I haven't worked out yet, but in the meantime it is annoying.

My "daily driver" headphones are in-ear Beats Fit Pro and AirPods Pro; wired Westone W40 (airplanes); and Bose QC35 ii (which for some reason has started to disconnect from my iPad Pro). These are the best, but I do not plan to take from home except on trips (due to their size and the case). Pros - Noise cancelling is absolutely the best for white noise (my AirPods Pro - latest firmware - has lost 80% of noise cancellation) - I can play music super low - like 5-15% of total. I can't imagine what "loud" is on these... - Sound stage is excellent. I haven't had to mess with the EQ nor on-device bass reduction, even though strong bass gives me a headache - Bluetooth connection is good with Apple products (I haven't tried multi-device connect - which works really well with Bose and Apple headphones - because I don't want to disable LDAC) - The app isn't bad. Quirky, okay, but there are a lot of controls - and you can see Sony has improved it over the past 2-3 years with more functionality - Speak-to-pause works well (disables noise cancellation and you can talk with others). Some quirks to it - i.e. if you manually turn on passthrough it will accidentally turn on noise canc ... this happens sometimes.. - Fit is comfortable compared with others (Bose QC35/45 have also been good to me) - Bluetooth connection is stable 50+ feet from the source. If this becomes a problem, you can disable some things to get greater distance Cons - The "cabin pressure" of Sony headphones appears greater than Bose - They do get warm on my ears - the "leather" is plasticky - The matte plastic coating picks up fingerprints and oil like nothing else - They cut out a bit on certain iOS sources - I need to investigate as it might be either alerts or something else confusing the Bluetooth source - Music pause (when removed from ears) always works. But resume only works about 20-30% of the time. - Touch controls can be infuriating at times. I've disabled, but it still makes the touch sound... - Dog barking and people talking still leaks through. I presume so will airplane announcements - they've had to do this for safety reasons Cost cutting - The case is really cheap - I'm guessing the zipper will break within weeks - The blue power/pairing light isn't helpful - they should have used green/blue/red for on/off status (cost cutting) - and doesn't show solid as you're turning it off - The USB port - Type C - seems cheap/weak. This could be an issue real soon. - The outside box, as well, is super cheap. You have to nearly tear it apart to get the headphone box out. [UNBOXING is awful] - They came - on day 1 - only charged 63%. That seemed a bit odd for a new release... And they are expensive - $400 is not cheap, yet the case and box are really cheap.

Excellent noise cancellation and clear, detailed sound. Very comfortable and light. Battery life last a long time. Very good pair of headphones.

absolutely love my Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones. The noise canceling is amazing — it feels like the world just fades away. Super comfortable, even after hours of use. Sound is rich and detailed. Battery lasts forever. Totally worth the price. Honestly, I use them every day now!

I love these headphones, they are the best I've ever had so far and I've had many other brands over 40 years. The build quality is excellent, and sounds amazing too. They are more comfortable than the wh-1000 xm4 and have better noise isolation. They still come with the cord with mic and extras for travel. I'd say they sound a little better but more improved is the comfort and battery life! The battery is significantly better. I'd recommend these especially at the sale price.

Had these for more than a year and thought I’d leave a review. These headphones are probably the best noise canceling from Sony. Better bass than the XM4s and battery life. I get at least 22-25 hours of battery life paired with the iPhone 12 for the past year shocking. I don’t even need to max the volume because the noise canceling does so well with its smart chip. I sleep with no issues with these on haha. I like the headphone app in which I could change the sound settings to my liking. I listen to a lot of genres and it sounds clean. Audiophiles rejoice!!

The headphones have great noise cancellation, they aren't perfect but they sure are impressive. They are very comfortable but in warmer weather, they will make you feel a little suffocated. They aren't meant for the gym though, if you are laying down on a bench they will fall off your head because of the sweat, in this case earbuds are a better option. For casual walks, around the house, at a cafe, these are amazing. They have great sound quality and very nice bass. They aren't too bass heavy and the Sony app has a built in equalizer so you can customize if you want more bass, and customize your sound profile. The on headphones controls are also somewhat customizable. The left side of the headphones will control power, whether to turn ANC off and on or have pass through enabled. The left side you can control the volume up and down by swiping up and down the sides of the headphones. You can double tap the side to pause your media. Hover your hand over the right side to enable pass through and it lowers your media to hear your surrounding temporarily. There are many other features. The sound is amazing, the active noise cancellation is one of the best, the features are bountiful, the customer service is great, the only thing is it isn't meant for lots of sweat or working out.

Ive never owned quality headphoens until now. These Sony WH-1000xm5 headphones are pretty good at noise canceling especially when i pair them to Alienware M16 R1. Volume is great, design is modern, battery is very good, and connectivity great due to the fact that incan connect via headphone jack. Its got great audio quality for music and video games. The carrying pack is also simple and nice.

The sound is spectacular. Powerful bass, clear highs, and the best noise cancellation I've ever experienced. The battery lasts a long time and they're super comfortable, even after hours of use. Highly recommended.
