Very high quality and light headphones

The noise cancelling is amazing and the sound quality is too. They are very comfortable and light and your head doesn’t start hurting if you wear them for hours.

MFG Hinge defect/ Poor warranty coverage

I absolutely **loved** these noise-canceling headphones. They made a huge difference while working and helped me stay focused on my tasks. Unfortunately, after only about a year and a half, I've run into the exact same issue that so many other customers have reported. Considering how much these headphones cost, it's concerning that so many people seem to experience the same defect around the same timeframe. Offering a paid repair for what appears to be a widespread issue is not an acceptable solution. A recall for this defect, a replacement, or even a credit toward a different model would be far more reasonable. At this point, I would even accept a partial credit rather than being expected to pay for a repair on such an expensive product. I'm extremely disappointed with how these concerns have been handled. I expected much better customer support from a premium brand. Sadly, unless this issue is addressed in a more meaningful way, I'll be looking for another brand for my future purchases.

The sound quality is amazing. If you get them with a discount is way worth it. However, be careful! This model is pretty susceptible to break from the hinges, and it is pretty expensive to repair!!

Here are some steps you can try to improve the sound quality of your headphones:
Turn down the volume of the playback device if it is too loud.
When playing music, if the headset and the transmitting Bluetooth device are connected via an HFP or HSP Bluetooth connection, switch the Bluetooth connection to A2DP with the connected device.
Ensure proper connection.
To ensure optimal listening experience, install the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools like an equalizer to fine-tune your speaker and maximize the audio to your liking.
Make sure that the software of the headphones is updated as it includes key features, applications, bug fixes, and feature improvements.

Good sound, not so good housing

I have had these for roughly six months and have used them virtually everyday. I love the sound they produce and the adaptive noise cancelling. I usually used then in transparency mode and would occasionally have to remove a earmuff if the person was speaking too softly. Unfortunately, I had to send them in to get repaired because the plastic housing broke. They were never dropped and essentially lived in the case when they weren't on my head. So I'm kind of at a loss as to how they broken. That being said, I have a sizable head (7 5/8 hat size) so maybe daily use did it. Either way I would reccomend these to a friend with a smaller head. I do wish they had some metal in the housing to make it a bit more durable.

Love the new design of the xm5s they are super comfortable i find them even more comfortable than the xm4s which is saying alot, abother thing i find they really imrpoved on is the multi point connectivity the xm4s where good with multipoint but the xm5s are amazing with multipoint connectivity between my computer and my phone

Good but not easy to connect to all computers.

XM-5: Great features but poorly constructed

o preface, I had the XM-3 & XM-4 and was ecstatic when I heard I heard the next generation was going to come out. I had great experience with the previous two headphones and the new design looked phenomenal. It just past my birthday and I decided to upgrade, so I purchased the XM-5 in the navy color way. The performance is incredible and I love how well the new noise cancellation works. Now I barely used them due to having no time with work and life. Recently I started to use them a little more, now that I have some free time and I found a big flaw. I just took them out my drawer and put them on my head like normal and the hinge that allows the headphones to go up and down broke. Mind you, I have no more than 10 hours on these headphones since I like to rotate with some other ones I have. I felt devastated since these headphones did feel a little bit more delicate than the previous generations. After some research I found this was quite common and a big issue with this model. I reached out to sony customer service and was told there was nothing they could do even with this being a common issue. For more context, I have had them for less then a year and fall under the warranty period. This tarnished the image I had of this model & company since I was such a big fan and couldn't recommend these headphones enough to all my peers. I have reach out to a few of my friends that recently purchase a pair and warned them of this issue. I wish Sony would revise this design and fix this flaw with any up and coming models. Unfortunately I will be switching over to a different brand, since I felt that Sony didn't care about its consumer. After having 3 generations of their headphones, they have finally started to degrade their products.
