Best Noise Cancelling Headphones for the Money

Overall, these headphones have more than met my expectations. I was looking for headphones that were comfortable, reproduced a good range of audio (classical, country, R&B, movie audio and talk), had good noise cancelling features and where not going to cost more than $250. Comfort - the heaphones are comfortable to wear, even for those of us who wear glasses. The headphones feel snug but are not overly tight. After some use they do feel warm and I would attribute that to the padding not being made of leather. In have begun looking for leather replacement pads. Sound - the sound is great! Treble, bass and miss come through clearly. The headphones come with a great app that allows you to adjust the EQ and offers several virtual surround sound settings too. You can adjust the output to your desired listening and musical genre. Noise Cancelling - this was one of the main features I was looking for. I am not disappointed. They are not as good as Bose but these were purchased new for’$99 so this makes them an amazing value. The noise cancelling feature (NC) has three modes that are automatically chosen. When you turn on the headphones they analyze the ambient noise and choose the best setting. To adjust it later hold the NC button down and it will give a few quick beeps and then turn down the audio for 3 seconds and analyze then adjust. I took the headphones into a loud server room, adjusted the NC and was surprised at how well it worked! I could hear my music and it drowned out the loud fans and AC noise! I was really pleased. Cost - well as I already mentioned, these were picked up on sale for $99. I find that hard to beat. Pros - amazing battery life, can be used wired if the battery dies, excellent sound while on calls, great price (if on sale), great sound, comfy and the noise cancelling feature works well, easy setup via NFC My Cons - no case. I really wish they came with a case, lack of leather ear pads, a lot of plastic - hoping they will hold up. They do feel solid though

I spent a ton of time going back and forth between big name brand and newer model headphones. I needed a general purpose over the ear headset for video editing, podcast production, and just general music listening. I’ve always really enjoyed Sony’s consistency when it comes to their audio equipment and took a chance on the much lesser costing headset. I couldn’t help but smile when I turned these on for the first time and messed with the custom sound board in the app that syncs with the headphones. Absolutely incredible. Crisp clear mids and highs, with the ability to get that soggy bottom bass if you really want it (not my type). Even with hip hop and rap beats and heavy 808 kicks, these things just come through so clean and the clarity on audio/voice files is stellar. Couldn’t be more pleased. Noise cancelling isn’t mind blowing, but when you have music/audio being played, it definitely does its part. Would buy again and again.

I bought these headphones for my father to replace the older pair of sennheiser headphones he was using. The challenge was trying to find headphones that we're easy to use, comfortable, & with the range needed to be used by a person with poor hearing. These are fairly user friendly, and easy to set up, at least for use. The noise cancellation isn't as quite good as some of the top end sets, but it does work. The sound balance is very good, with plenty of volume & frequency range. Overall I am happy with this product, some areas aren't the absolute best, but it seems like Sony made the right trade off on where to spend & what could be compromised without changing the quality too much overall. I would buy these again without regret.••• Now I would like to thank the representatives at the Grand Forks ND Best Buy for how they handled a price discrepancy during the purchase. The displayed price tag was $100 less than what rang up at the till. The manager went to the isle, confirmed the displayed price, which turned out to be a tag left up from the Black Friday sale the week before. They honored the sale price with out any hassles. I was floored, that kind of integrity and customer service is so uncommon these days that I was expecting an I'm sorry sir but that sale is over and there's nothing I can do... all in all I would say it's a good product, and amazing customer service!!!

I love the fact that these Sony headphones fit over my ears and make it very comfortable when wearing them for a long time. The battery life last several hours of non-stop listening and the sound quality is great!

Although I am happy with my purchase, I am disappointed that people can hear my music while I am jamming out working out or something. The battery is extremely long and the headphones are light compared to my other Sony ones I have. It's just my music being heard bothers me a tad. Good pickup still!

Was looking for wireless noise cancelling over the ear headphones for my wife with our then upcoming trip. Using the in-store display set-up we were able to quickly lock in on these. Charged them up and were ready for the flight the next morning. She used them the entire flight - 3 hours, throughout the week watching shows with her Netflix account and then again for the flight home. I have used them twice since we've gotten home before I gotten indicator to recharge. Well worth the money.

Well everyones hearing preference is different. I bought Bose QC 35 II few days back and returned it same day because it had not the bass/treble I wanted. I took a chance with Sony CH700N as they were on sale. The sound quality is absolutely amazing, exactly as I wanted. It blew me away and much much better than Bose. Highly recommend.

These are very comfortable, i like that the ears swivel around & can lay flat. Noise cancelling is decent enough! Music sounds great and even better when you use the sony headphones app to tweak surround and EQ settings. Definitely recommend!

I’ve now had several flights with these new Sony headphones and the noise canceling, sound quality and battery life are everything I’d expect from Sony. Short of the $350 price point to get the “hand-pause” feature, you cannot go wrong with this selection.

Best BT headphones Sony has made yet

Sony made a few great improvements over last year’s XB950N1 BT headphones, the biggest being the weight & battery life. Package comes with headphones, 3.5mm male/male audio cable, microUSB charging cable, and instructional guide. NO wall charger. PROS: ----------- * The sound is incredible, period. When using the Sony “Headphones” app, you can really make any song sound its best with the bass boost capabilities and pre-set equalizers. OR if you’re like me, you have 2 CUSTOM equalizer settings you can change if you don’t like the pre-sets. If you don’t use the Headphones app to make additional settings, you’re missing out on some upgraded audio. * The WEIGHT of these headphones is music to my ears. Last year’s model, though sounded good, weighed way too much. A turn of the head or a lean back, and they would tend to fall off or shift. Not this year’s model. These have smaller ear cups and a lighter weighted casing/circuitry. * Comfortable beyond expectations. Last year’s model got uncomfortable due to thickness of ear foam material causing the cups to get sweaty (it would get hot inside cup area). * Updates to the “Headphones” app has made for a better listening experience as I stated before regarding the EQ, bass boost, and 2 Custom settings. * Battery life is crazy good. I have listened to these headphones for about 20 hours on medium volume and battery icon on the Headphones app still shows about one-half depleted. These will be great for work as they’ll last about a whole week before having to charge. * Buttons are generally in good spots so as to not accidentally press one and change settings while listening. * When paired up with Samsung Note 8, BT range is quite exceptional. Line of site range was over 50’ while generally one wall in my house would not cause any degradation until around 40’. CONS: ----------- * No carrying case/pouch. It comes with a USB charging cable and a 3.5mm male/male cable, but nowhere to put these items if traveling. Last year’s model had a pouch which was useful. * Due to lack of ear foam (or design?), you can hear more noise/music from the outsider perspective. If you’re in an open workplace, yes, your co-workers will be able to hear what you’re listening to if levels are at medium+. * Quality of music sound does degrade when using the wire instead of BT. Headphones app can only be used with BT connection so no improvement to audio can be made. With a 35-hour battery, hopefully that won’t happen often. OTHER OBSERVATIONS: ----------- * In the slider adjustment area, headphones sport a nice piece of chrome trim to give it a classy look * Phone operation works fine with given mic. User on other end was unable to identify that I had a BT device connected. * 2 different phones were used in a situation where I called someone driving (and paired with) a Nissan Rogue and the other person could hear their own echo when they spoke (in their car speakers). When their phone was unpaired from the vehicle, the echo on the phone disappeared. There may be a deeper cause for this scenario to occur but won’t be investigated further here. * NFC pairing was smooth and seamless using 2 different android devices. * When using WinAmp (audio player no longer in Play Store), the play/pause button will not play or pause songs, but the REW/FF lever does work. Last year’s model had no problem with pause/play. I’m not sure why it’s not working. However; when I hold down the pause/play, the Google assistant IS activated. So the button works physically, but not with Winamp. CONCLUSION: ===================== Comfortable headphones. Great sound, especially when using Headphones app. Light weight. Long battery life. There are plenty of good things about these headphones to warrant the retail $200 price point. However, for that price, a carrying case would be a great add to this product if not just to carry the cables, but to protect them during transit. Great job, Sony!

Sony Quality Sound with Noise Cancellation

As someone who frequently travels by air and often travels internationally on long-haul flights, noise cancelling headphones have been an absolute necessity for me for years. I have tried almost every set of noise cancelling headphones on the market, including aviation headsets I have worn as a pilot myself. The Sony CH700N headphones are incredibly comfortable to wear and are exceptionally light. Given that noise cancellation was a major selling point of the CH700N I would have expected them to come with a case that protects them on the road, unfortunately this is not the case. That said however, the audio quality is quite impressive and the built-in Li-ion battery delivers up to 35 hours of power and is easily recharged via USB. Sony indicates that 10 minutes of charging will yield 60 minutes of playback although, given the headphones last 35 hours when fully charged, this wasn't a concern. It looks like I can now listen to music non-stop from Los Angeles to Sydney. Selecting what to listen to is easily achieved with either the supplied 3.5mm audio cable or Bluetooth and NFC. If you're taking calls during your travels then you'll find the built-in microphone useful and this can also be used with Siri or Google's assistant.

    Good Sound, Disappointing Workmanship

I’ve been buying their wired headphones that are around $30 for years and they always last a couple years. Since I moved to NYC, I figured I’d go ahead and invest in a wireless pair so I could get around and not have to worry about the wires getting in the way. (They also double as earmuffs since it’s cold 6 months out of the year) I thought this was a good brand so I went with these. They cracked like 7 months in as I was putting them on. I called Sony and they wouldn’t repair or replace them, so I just put some tape on them. A week ago the other side cracked and I can’t even put them on without one side or the other falling off. The speakers still work fine, just can’t wear them. Really upset. And I’m not stretching them too wide or anything. I’m searching for new ones now and will most likely go with Bose or Beats. Not buying from Sony again.

Top of this list of reasons to get these headphones is the noise cancelling feature. I have Sony's upgraded version to this and I wanted these because of the color and because I needed something for keeping in my travel bag while the others are at home. So if you're in the market for some comfortable, easy to use, and soft cushions for your ears these are for you. They are also wireless which is even better. I'll admit I have not even tried to wire them to my phone or computer because the Bluetooth function does not drop at all. They do come with a charging cable and the auxiliary cord. Now for the actual sound-fullness of the headphones it is also by far better than earbuds. I have earbuds that are noise cancelling but these do the job so well! I'm particular about live music and how it plays in my ears when I'm not streaming on my Bluetooth speakers and listening to Dolly Parton live or Linkin Park live was awesome and super immersive. I also enjoy just playing classical music and Astor Piazzolla's Concierto Para Quinteto is amazing! It is a tango song I'm recently super into because it was on a show I watch a lot and as corny as it sounds, it is music to my ears. My ears are pleased with the levels of bass and treble. I have not been able to test out the life of the battery because 50 hours is amazing and I just haven't capped out yet. The application for the headphones is a bit funky just because it has presets for: concerts, live, and other genres of music but it needs to be tweaked. Can't wait for my trip next month to Disney World and wear these on the plane and drown outside noises. Love these headphones!

I bought Bluetooth headphones through Amazon that did not work very good. What a waste. I can't get it to connect too Bluetooth anymore. The people at Best Buy were very helpful in getting me the Bluetooth headphones that were affordable. They sound great. And some other features that I did not know about and really like is the built-in microphones and a switch that allow me to answer my iPhone. An awesome deal.

I bought a beats headphones, Apple AirPods, and 2 Bluetooth headphones from amazon. This is so far the most comfortable headphones and easy to use. The rubber on the ears are soft and not that heavy compared to my beats headphones. The AirPods keeps of coming off and I keep on scratching my ears. This one is easy fit and comfortable.

I wanted head phones that offers noise cancellation, have decent bass, light weight, and doesn't break the bank. These headphones worked great and were exactly what i was looking. I work and go to school so noise cancellation has become an important part of my studies. The headphones almost feel like suction cups around your ears, they eliminate your surrounding sounds. The are comfortable too. I like the 35 hours battery life, and quick charge. Has music control switches on the sides for easy navigation. You can download the app (options) to customize settings, equalizer, and noise cancellation. The noise quality is okay, nice mids, lows, and bass. Unless you are a audiophile you won't be too disappointed, they sound good and do the job right. For the price, its a good option, these headphones are right up there with the other popular brands when it comes to comfort, sound quality, look, and app design. I would recommend these headphones.
