I've gotta say, these headphones have impressed me more than any other pair I've had or tried - the Bose headphones (I forget the model # at this time), the Beats Studio, or the Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2. These are above and beyond any other noise cancelling headphone, in my opinion. One of the things that I think makes these incredibly innovative and stand out, is the gesture controls to play/pause, etc. Very very cool. As far as the main selling point of these, the noise cancelling: amazing. crystal clear sound and a complete shutout of background noise. Absolutely love it. Highly recommend these headphones to anyone needing or wanting a noise-cancelling set.

For those considering a high-end over the ear headphone system, the Sony 1000X M2 headphones will not disappoint. Everything from the fit to the noise cancelling exceeded my expectations. First, the sound quality is superb. Everything from the subtle highs to the rumbling lows comes through without any distortion. Bass is excellent, but not overwhelming. Second, the noise cancelling is far superior to other noise cancelling headphones that I have tried within the same general price range. Sony even has an app that you can install and control the amount of ambient noise that you want to let in. You can also indicate that you want it to focus on letting voices in instead of other noises which is very helpful in an airport or while listening to some tunes at work. The last over the ear headphones I tried weren't very comfortable--especially in the headband. The Sony's fit snugly without feeling tight or having the headband feel strapped to the top of your head. The ear cushions fit like a glove around my ears and formed a perfect seal for optimum sound. I had them on for approximately 6 hour without any issues. As far as features go, the Sony 1000X MII is packed. Some of them are more useful than others, but downloading the app will allow you to fine-tune your set to your preference. I didn't really use the adaptive noise cancellation which can tell what you are doing (walking, sitting, etc.) and adjust the amount of ambient noise to allow through based on that activity. You can always turn this off and adjust it manually which is what I prefer. The feature that I enjoyed the most was the Quick Attention feature. Using predefined taps/touches to the outside of the right earpiece, you can pause/start audio, skip forward or backward, turn the volume up/down, or activate your phone's voice control. This is very useful if you want to put your phone away or just need to quickly pause the music to listen to something going on in the outside world. In conclusion, I'm extremely satisfied with the Sony 1000X M2. Even with a price of $350, I think they are well worth it. The quality of the noise cancellation really makes a crowded airport, office, or noisy airplane a much more relaxing experience. Turn on your favorite track and you're transported to an audio euphoria. What could be better??? 30 playtime with noise cancelling ON and up to 38 with noise cancelling off. That's phenomenal. I highly recommend the Sony 1000X M2s to anyone looking for a quality set of headphones which are well worth the price tag.

good: -sound quality - wow. fantastic sound quality. a bit of a V shape to the sound curve, but everything is present and has its place here, with not one thing overshadowing the other. bass is punchy and well defined, It’s forward, but not muddy. i haven’t heard the new beats studio 3s yet, but i get the impression that this sound is what beats in general are shooting for - energetic, punchy, clean, exciting sound. trebels and mids are also very clear without being fatiguing. these have quickly become my favorite pair of over ear cans, for daily drivers as well as travel. i wouldn't call them hyper accurate, but man are they fun to listen to. -build quality - this remains to be seen, but for now they feel like an upgrade over the first series. i was an early adopter of the first version of this headphone, the MDR-1000X. i went through 2 pairs, and eventually had creaking on both, where the hinge meets the cup. hopefully that’s not the case with these, but only time will tell. otherwise, they have a premium feel to me, with sturdy construction. -noise cancelling - not only ANC, but to varying degrees. it feels like this market is beginning to see some real competition, and that’s only helping the feature set. great noise canceling, controllable via the app, and the quick attenuation feature (by putting your hand over the right cup) is a fantastic cary-over from the first version. -touch controls - takes a few minutes to get used to, but they quickly become natural. -app control - a host of features which are controllable via the app i won’t go into here. -comfort - maybe a hair below the bose competitor QC35 in terms of comfort, but still very comfortable. the sound quality comparison between the 2 makes these an easy choice. much as I love my QC35s, these win hands down. -battery life - even better than the first version, rated at 30 hours. -nice hard case included. bad: -the only thing i can put in the negative column is the ability to connect to multiple bluetooth devices at one time. to me, this is the only thing that the bose QC35 has over the sony. the sound quality more than makes up for this. overall: can’t say enough good things about these. from top to bottom, a fantastic pair of headphones. highly recommended.

The noise cancelation on these are great. They sit a bit on my ear rather then over and create a good seal which when paired with the noise cancelation, drowns out all the talking in my noisy office. I no longer have to be distracted by the conversations right next to me. I am really loving the button less controls. It gives it a clean look and is extremely easy to use. Swipe up or down for volume, left or right for previous or next song. The sound quality is also good, the music is very clear. These are going to get a lot of use.

Wanting the app for Macbook Pro, please!

EQ: The audio of this headphone is good especially after using the equalizer in the app. The EQ of the app can adjust the frequency of the sound without making weird noises like a lot of other EQ you download on your computer. I wish they have the app for macbook pro as well. I use my computer to play music more than my phone at work. Touchpad: I love the touchpad, sometimes I do get wrong responses though. I think it is hard to swipe the right way when I am not setting up right. Comfort: The headphone is really comfortable to wear. I don't own a qc 35, so I don't know how it is in comparison. I wear this set all day at work. It has a really soft earpad (I doubt that the earpad on qc35 can be softer). I wish the headband isn't so tight agast my face. Bluetooth: I wish the Bluetooth connection is better, it isn't stable within the 30 feet. Cracking: I don't know how 1000xm2 compare to 1000x. I don't own 1000x and never tried that one on. I did see a video of someone's 1000xm2 headband cracking though. Yes, it says it is 1000xm2. Sound quality: To be honest it sounds pretty good. However, my wife has a pair of $50-$60 AKG headphone. It is like $300 cheaper than 1000xm2 but sounds maybe better than 1000xm2. The thing is though 1000xm2 is wireless, has a cool touchpad that I love, it is a voice canceling headphone, and it comes with an amazing app. If you just need a good sounding headphone, I recommend AKG. Voice Canceling: It is pretty good. But I can hear my Dyson vacuum when I am vacuuming. I can hear my babies crying. I can even hear my wife talking to me unless I turn the music louder, I wish I don't have to do that. I also can't hear my wife if I turn the sound louder on $20 earbuds. You see what I mean? The look: It doesn't look the best on a person with a bigger head like me. The headband stretches wide and looks kind of ugly. Overall: With the app (EQ specifically), this pair of headphone has a killer amazing sound quality. I wish I get the app on the computer so I can have the same quality. It has an amazing bass, just saying. I really like the headphone, however, I won't recommend this to a friend, at least not till times prove that the headband cracking issue is fully fixed. Sony claims that they improved the design and material, however, only time can tell. Hopefully, the time will change my mind.

My favorite headphones I’ve ever bought. Got them for a steal on Black Friday for $200 and they are easily worth every penny. Excellent sound quality, good bass, mids and highs. Great noise isolation. And great features! Love the battery too, you can quick charge 10 mins for 5 hrs of playback. Also very comfortable.

I ride the commuter rail 4 times a week and the train is noisy (people, kids, the train itself) and in the morning and evenings, I just want to be alone in my thoughts and music. I decided to try these. I've had Sony earphones before so I was hopeful that these would be good as well. Talk about exceeding expectations! First off, they are comfortable. I have weird ears and they fit nicely over them and they didn't feel tight or did I feel pressure on my ears. The setup was easy. Power on, pair to my phone, listen to music! The sound was fantastic! Sharp and clear. But what really blew me away was the noise canceling. I tried it initially at home and was amazed that I couldn't really hear anything from the outside. BUt the real test was the train this morning. I got on the train, found my seat, turned on the headphones and I cannot hear ANYTHING. It was like I was sitting in a quiet room. It took me a few moments to even realize the train had departed the station. I put on some tunes, and went about my morning without distraction and no annoyances from things around me. Thank you Sony for making a great product!

I found the sound and functions beyond awesome the only critique i have is the 3.5mm cable that came with it was a omtp wire 2 lined tip not allowing for the use of the onboard mic if connecting to a gaming system. the current game system cables are ctia which have 3 rings on the cord allowing for stereo and mic. i wish there was something i could do to make them compatible for my game systems because i loved the sound and quality of the item but had to return due to not being able to make that function work unless someone has any idea's i would love to head back and get them again they were so awesome.

These are my first noise cancelling headphones. I was looking for something to help me concentrate at work and block out the noise as well as something for watching TV on my laptop at home. Unfortunately, every time I wear them I get a headache after about a half hour, so they are useless to me. My wife on the other hand doesn't have an issue, so they are now hers. These headphones were very simple to pair with my phone or laptop. My wife has trouble with her laptop where she needs pair it every time she tries to use it. The audio controls are great. My wife has a different pair and she always has to take the headphones off to turn up the volume because the buttons are not intuitive. With these Sony headphones you just swipe up or down for the volume and forward and back for track selection. I also like the feature of putting your hand on the right ear to enable the microphones on the sides so you can hear if someone is talking to you. That is a great feature. The noise cancelling is really nice. If the dishwasher or the washing machine is on you can't hear it. It doesn't block out conversations as effectively in my experience though. The padding on the top is not quite as comfortable as my wife's headphones and she finds the Sony feels a little bit sharp. These are really good headphones and I would like to give them a higher rating, but since they give me a headache I can't use them for the reasons I intended to (or at all really) I can't give it a higher rating.

I think the Bose quite comforts may look a bit sharper and are more comfortable but these are a incredibly close second. As far as sound quality, noise cancelling, and features.. The Sony's prove superior. And though the bose look awesome, they are made from easily scratched, scuffed, and dented metal/aluminum that wont age well over time (at least if your ocd with your things like me). Whereas, the sonys materials will hold up great and eventually close the gap. Overall ive been really satisfied and impressed by the overall feel and sound quality. My girlfriend enjoys my pair so much we bought a gold pair for her! Glad I pulled the trigger!

Was researching from a month. Have had bose sound true, but wanted wireless with good and quality. Two shortlisted headphones were Bose QC35 and Sony 1000x. Bose QC 35 were great, but I just wanted bit of bass more, 1000x was no brainer. But, I saw loads of reviews reporting break issues. Fortunately, this model was about to release and I decided to wait. Boy! These are my best headphones ever. Bass is just about right, not extreme, touch pad great, best noise cancellation, even better than QC35. Just got for it!!!!

I have been researching noise canceling Bluetooth headphones for the last year. I've went back and forth between the Bose QC35 and the Sony MDR-1000x. When Sony announced they were coming out with the WH-1000XM2, I decided those were the ones I would finally take the plunge on. Picked them up on the day of release at my local Best Buy. Let me just say, these things are a major GO. I pulled the earphones out of the package, turned on the power button, looked at the Bluetooth settings on my phone, and there they were. One simple push, and they were connected and I was listening to music. As simple as can be. Noise canceling is almost scary. I turned up the TV with surround system to full blast, stuck the headphones on, and nary a sound could be heard. If you want to disappear into a movie or song, these things are a must have. Sound quality is excellent. I haven't yet started tweaking any software and/or sound settings, but the things are awesome right out of the box. The swipe features to pause, fast forward, adjust volume are a major plus. No pulling your phone out to fast forward music or change volume. Friend talking to you? Simply cup your hand over the right ear cup, and the music is paused and noise canceling is deactivated, allowing you to hear the conversation without even removing the headphones. Awesome product. Pricey? Sure. But if you can afford the cost, these things are simply awesome.

Was a diehard Bose fan for over 20 years until Bose stopped giving trade-in credit on their old headphones. After looking at and trying all the brands, the Sony 1000MX2 put the other over-the-ear headphones to shame, including the competing Bose noise-cancelling headphones. If you fly a lot like I do, these will make your travels so much more enjoyable. Little pricey, but watch for the sales (like Black Friday), and you can get these great headphones at a reasonable price.

Purchased the headphones during black-friday deals for $199. Before purchasing I listened to Bose, Sony, JBL, Crusher, & Beats headphones in-store at Best Buy. I have been using the 1000XM2's for a week now. The sound while listening to both movies and music is stunning. The Sony headphones connect App works great and allows for lots of personalization and fine tuning. They are extremely comfortable. Excellent noise cancellation and battery life.
