Great noise cancelling and sound quality

These headphones are dangerously noise cancelling, at least for NYC streets when used at it's max - you can adjust it on a 0-20 scale -. Coming from a wired Beyerdynamic DT990 Premium, didn't recognize any change in sound quality with everyday use. Battery life is amazing, last me throughout the week and charging is pretty fast too. I have them Champagne/Gold and they look great as well!!

If you want great noise cancelling, this is the one. I fly a lot and this thing blocks everything out. A baby was crying right behind me on the last trip and I was completely oblivious until we were taxing and the person next to me congratulated us on surviving a crying baby for 2 hours. Had no idea. Good sound. Great battery life. Convenient controls. This has it all!!

It's beyond my expectations. It has google assistant after a software update, great noise cancelling with ambient sound and quick attention mode so I can use it anywhere even on the street, and great battery life. My only complain is my ears can get a little sweaty on a hot summer day but it was expected if I use it outdoor.

The headphones are better than QC35 II in sound quality and many other headphones. Worth every penny if sold around $300 which happened around Black Friday and even in December 2017. The headphones are comfortable but not as comfy as QC35 though. Battery life is a huge plus and I didn't charge it for 15 days after the first charge.

I've been using Beats Studio for 3 years till I recently purchased these by Sony. I am very pleased by the quality and the way you can customize the sound through the application for the headphones. They are comfortable enough and the features are also pretty good. I will say however, if you prefer loud headphones and high bass, stick to the BEATS STUDIOS. I love these more than the Studios for their features and high quality sound, BUT Studios sound WAY LOUDER and with much MORE BASS!

I spent months deciding between this model and the Bose QC35. After testing them in-store, I chose the Sonys. It’s a fantastic product overall; the sound is great, connectivity is great, controls are great. However, after about 30 minutes of wear, they were SO uncomfortable. If you are familiar with that “headphones squeezing your head” feeling, you know what I’m talking about. I ended up exchanging them for the Bose model.

This review is only about the sound quality. I haven't tested anything else yet because the sound quality is the most important thing to me and I wanted headphones I could use plugged in rather than Bluetooth. I compared this to my Sony MDR-V600's which I consider one of the best headphones I have ever listened to. I think the 1000XM2''s are a little shrill but the bottom end blows away the MDR-V600's (maybe because they are so old by now). I listened to the Beatles White Album 2018 remix directly from the CD to make this comparison. Will be interested to see how the sound holds up using Bluetooth but overall I'd give the sound quality a 5 out of 5 when used direct with NR on..

The sound is awesome and the noise cancelling is unique; but I CANNOT PAIR the headphones with any of my two SONY BRAVIA TVs!!!!!!!!!!! Ridiculous... it is almost a scam from Sony. Pairs well with a Samsung phone but does not with an external Bluetooth extender,

I purchased these specifically for long travel, having read all the positive reviews, and they happen to be on sale for $50 off. For my trial, I wore these for 4 flights that literally took me to the other side of the world and back (over 30 hours on an airplane). First, the sound quality is excellent, and music comes across beautifully. The app allows you to adjust equalizer settings which is also a nice plus. As for fit, they were very comfortable around my ears but overall felt heavy, with a pressure point on my head where the band went across. Initially this wasn't a problem but after several hours it became marginally uncomfortable. Because they are around-ear, they are bulky and made it difficult/ annoying to wear them around your neck for more than a few minutes. So I frequently opted to just take them off instead of wearing them around my neck and constantly have my chin brush them every time I turned my head. The touch sensor on the right ear is a nice feature, using the swiping functions to adjust music tracks and volume. But using the palm of your hand to mute everything was a little gimmicky. It takes 1-2 seconds for the command to process, and I found it easier and less annoying to the person I was speaking with to just pull it away from my ear for the conversation. But overall I was not overly impressed with the noise cancellation. If I had the volume turned up to medium or loud they worked well, but for music at lower volumes you could still hear some level of ambient noise. If I had to guess I would say they filtered out 80%, but for the price I was expecting better. Overall a really nice set of headphones, but for me I didn't see the significant value and ended up returning them for the Sony WH-CH700N, which were on sale for 50% off. They were slightly lighter, had a more comfortable fit and about the same noise cancellation performance... so for me the price difference was not worth it.

absolutely the best headphones way better than bose or monster you really get a clear sound and you can hear every instrument more clear I'm glad i got them on sale such a steal if you're a huge music fan then this are the best ones for you i also love the volume can be loud but not to the point that your ears hurt i think its only one problem is that they fall off a little too much other than that they're impeccable when it comes to sound

I purchased the beats studio2 a few years ago and they have performed flawlessly buy was time for an upgrade. Went for the beats studio3 and reading about the new active noise cancelling i was not impressed. So I returned them for the Sony 1000xm2 and I'll tell you they are much better than the beats in sound and noise cancelling. I really wanted the enjoy my beats but could not so now I a new Sony fan.

These headphones are really not all that. I don’t see how they really have all these good reviews. I’ve owned many pairs of headphones and the real problem I have with these is the fact that they were $350 and they distort at max volume. The bass? It distorts and doesnt even hit good. The quality of sound coming out of these really sound like they’re $50 headphones even if that. The product seems like it’s marked up on price based on all the “features” it comes with but those should be standard now considering how long that technology has been out. I must say the noise cancelling works well but the volume on these headphones isn’t even that loud so it defeats the purpose all together. The headphones also have an app that can be downloaded and used to change the EQ and hearing positions, etc but don’t even do it justice. Sorry sony but these headphones need improving. I’ve owned some Shure SE215’s earphones compared to these headphones they absolutely stand no chance. And they were $100!! Honestly you’re better off buying some shures or audio technicas for half the price. Considering someone is spending $350 on headphones I should be paying for sound quality, not features that I probably won’t use. Sound quality isn’t what you get here. I reccomend doing more research with other headphones. Or definitely not asking a Best Buy employee for assistance because they most likely not know what they’re taking about.

I have been a Sony loyalist for many years and have stuck with them through the Bose rush, the Beats era and have always preached SONY, SONY, SONY to all who listen. I was so excited to grab these and get to using them. I bought them and use them daily. After using the app and adjusting the bass and treble to my liking in the app and turning up the volume, I began to get a popping sound out of the headphones. I couldn't turn up the volume because once I got to near max, the popping sound would return. Fearing that I had a defective product, I returned it to the store within the 15 day grace period after purchase. I exchanged it for another set and again, I began to hear the same popping sound with the second pair. I was so upset and felt let down by SONY due to the premium price I paid for these headphones. Being a SONY loyalist, I did keep them but am now questioning my loyalty due to the many competitors that are out there. I do like the new features such as the touch controls and what not but DO NOT LIKE THE POPPING SOUND that I get once the volume is turned up.

    Amazing Noise Cancelling Headphones

I was already in love with these headphones because the noise cancelling quality was amazing. Then I put them to the test in a crowded coffee shop and it was like I was the only person in the place. I could not hear anyone. In fact, when I took the headphones off I could not believe how loud it actually was. I look forward to using them in my travels.

Must be connected to Bluetooth to use

So I bought these yesterday (Oct 22) and today I am on flight to Singapore and I turn them on to use as noise canceling, 5 minutes later they shut off. So I contacted Sony support while in Detroit and I find out you must be connected to Bluetooth or be plugged in to use otherwise they shut down to preserve battery. So if the battery dies on my phone while traveling I can’t use these headphones!! Poor design and I think I will return them when I come back from Singapore, no where in documentation does it state this.

Hi 1161, the noise canceling feature should work if there are no connected Bluetooth devices. Once you turn-on the headphones, the noise-canceling function is turned on automatically. The indicator (green) next to the NC/AMBIENT button lights up. You may also visit the link below for more information about this feature. However, if you still need further assistance, please reach us at [email protected] with your contact and product information. We will do our best to help. Thanks! ^Ron

These headphones sound great, the ANC is excellent, and they are comfortable, but after a couple of months of use the earcups/headband make loud creaking sounds at the slightest movement. It is really annoying and makes the headphones almost useless; sound quality doesn't matter much if you can't hear the music. Very dissappointed.

They sound good but they WILL BREAK

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First of all, the headphones sound good and the noise cancelling works well. The issue is that Sony didn't fix the headband crack issue that they claimed to have fixed. I've had the headphones for a few months now and the headband has cracked at the hinge. Just like it did on the 1000X's. The crack is beginning but tends to make the headphones completely fall apart. I called Sony about getting them fixed, and was told that the warranty does not cover "physical damage". There are no signs of physical damage anywhere on the headphones. I've been extremely careful with them. They're kept in the hardshell case whenever I'm not wearing them. Sony's refusal to admit a common manufacturing issue and instead blame it on the buyer is ridiculous. I will not be buying any more Sony products after the experience I had with their customer . If you decide to purchase these headphones, be aware that your $350 will get you headphones that break after 6 months, with the same issue that has broken many other pairs, and that Sony won't replace them. Skip these headphones and instead get headphones from Bose, as they will actually stand behind their customers and their warranty.
