Easy to install. No messy wires. Speakers with soundbar sound good but a little over-priced. Will need to test out more fully with more 4K movies to really know how good (which is why quality rating at 4 and not 5). Cannot rexommend because surround sound speakers discontinued.

Absolutely love these add on, and finish off the rest of your surround sound the way it was intended, speakers. Definitely finish off the sound bar.and the 3D sound is movie theater quality. Especially after playing with the rears and the subwoofer, manually..even after you set it for the auto program..which helps , but definitely need to play it by ear..couple of weeks after getting them, i had them dialed in real nice....One time, i got an oil change. And when i got home, i had to put the other half of the oil in the car...i guess technically, they changed the oil..and it sounded like i was getting what i payed for..maybe they had to stick it to the consumers bcs of the overall cost up front..might of pushed people away as a whole package cost..love the package as a whole..but not the overall cost..4 stars for the quality..1 deducted for the people running the show

These rear speakers compliment the Sony 3.1 soundbar to perfection. With the majority of soundbars that include rear speakers...you can’t hear them unless you sit almost on top of them. These rear speakers don’t have that issue and can be heard without sitting next to them. I love that these speakers are wireless and only need to be plugged in and placed where you want them. I use these in my living room area that’s big with a high ceiling and these speakers still help fill the room. The only negative is the price but once you hear them that issue goes away. Lastly...I recommend adjusting the decibel level in the settings menu for the rear speakers to a higher level than the default setting. Then they really shine and stand out.

It’s unfortunate that these were sold separately and are so hard to come by for a reasonable price these days. If you can find them at a price you’re okay with, I absolutely recommend it. Otherwise there are hidden outputs on the back to the left of the input cutout, 1 rear left, 1 rear right, 1 sub. Presumably you can hook something else up though I havent tried personally.

These rear surrounds add twice the dimension to the HT-Z9F soundbar. My review of the HT-Z9F soundbar was made prior to the addition of these surrounds. I would change my rating of the soundbar to 5 stars after adding these speakers. I don’t understand how this system does it, but when an Atmos signal is processed there is a sense of sound coming from an area above the speakers. It is somewhat subtle, but adds a lot to movie viewing. These surrounds enhance the sense of vertical sounds along with traditional surround sound. DTS, Dolby Digital and other signals have more vertical depth with the rears involved. In addition to the great sound these rears add to the system, they are wireless except for the power cord. Setup is simple. Adjustments are necessary to get the most out of them. It was rather enjoyable tweaking the system and hearing the difference the different settings make. I think they are more than optional for the system. I consider them a must have to enjoy the capabilities of the soundbar.

Easy setup and Bluetooth link with sound bar. Fairly pricey so I bought an open box item which looks just like new. Adds to the overall sound quality. Would be 5stars if it was a bit cheaper...especially since they only work with one sound bar!!!

Great sound and best improvement for the home setup. The only complaint is mainly for the Sony connection from the sound bar as it drops at times or cuts out. You must reconnect to get best quality.

We spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to replace our old Rocketfish rear speakers. Because of the room layout, one of our rear speakers would need a wire run through the attic, to connect to the receiver. Instead, we finally found these rear speakers. They require power, but no wires to/from the soundbar. Eliminating the receiver and getting the soundbar did present some problems and compromises, but the sound is very good - almost as good as our old system. The speakers have required a reset after power outages, and retuning the balance from the remote. Too bad the sub/receiver doesn't remember your settings.

Setup was so easy. It took longer to unbox and read the simple instructions than to actually hook it up! They are great when watching a movie to hear sounds coming from behind. Like the sound bar, a little expensive.

Got these to enhance the audio quality of my soundbar. After the initial setup, I was really disappointed by the sound quality. I could barely hear anything out of them, even when "RS" button was maxed-out at level 12. I was going to return them, but decided to spend an hour manually adjusting the soundbar's settings menu. After changing the distance setting to each speaker, then reducing the soundbar and subwoofer by -1 dB and increasing both of the rear speakers by +2.5 dB, the surround sound finally works properly and sounds good. These speakers are pretty expensive, especially since they're only compatible with a single model of soundbar. (Frankly, for the price of the soundbar, these satellite speakers should be included in the package.) Sony really should make the default setting/calibration for these speakers louder, or atleast explain the need for manual adjustments. (Given the number of complaints against these online, as well as the number of open box units and their associated soundbars returned to my Best Buy store alone, Sony is losing customers who likely would have been satisified if the initial setup/calibration had been better right out of the box. Just a thought.)

Absolutely love these! Extremely high quality build and sound, instant connection to my HT-Z9F soundbar, probably one of the best pair of rear speakers on a bar that I’ve heard, produce an incredible amount of range with a truly immersive experience. Easily adjust their individual distance and volume via the onscreen set up tool, true wireless! all that’s needed is power. They destroy LG And Samsung’s rear speakers kits and I feel fall a tad short of Samsung’s N950s rears because they have top firing and front firing speakers for Dolby atmos. All in all these are an absolute must add to your Z9F they are a bit pricey but worth it!!!

Adds subtle sound to better fill the room, however not a game a changer vs the base unit (sound bar and sub)- especially for a $300 price tag. Setup was super easy, just plugged them in and it automatically connected. Went into the sound bar setting to make verify. It can’t get much easier- I literally plugged the speakers into the wall and turned on the sound bar and they apparently set themselves up!

They are good, especially when I’m watching something emersive, and I can hear like a surround sound effect, my only problem is, since they are only 50 watts each, and are not supposed to be part of the central channel, they don’t play anything that is part of central channel, so depending on how the video you’re watching has it setup, you may not hear the dialogue, that well but the background rain is very loud and clear..I think this can be taken care of on software side, so I see as it’s a lack of work on Sony’s side. The speakers do tend to go out of sync when too many Bluetooth devices are nearby, but nothing a RF sync re-adjust hasn’t been able to fix so far. I’ve had these for about a month, and usually are ok. I mean they are only supposed to be surround speakers and that too wireless so I understand the backdrops but I wish they also played the central channel and very more clear. Because they aren’t supposed to play central channel they are often not very clear with the sound atleast with YouTube or Netflix/prime, etc. not sure if I had a dedicated blue ray player, how it will work? May be I’ll get one in the future and try it out..definitely over priced though, that’s why 3 stars. More like 3.5

In order to explore the world of cord-cutting, my son talked me into upgrading my old system, a 10-year old 52" Sony Bravia coupled with a Sony HT-6900DP - 1000W 6.1 Home Theater system. I was reluctant to do so since my current system still performed flawlessly, but he showed me his home system and convinced me to take the plunge. I went with a 55" Sony X900F and added the HT-Z9F soundbar - and after having done a little research beforehand, decided to go ahead and add the SA-Z9F rear speakers as well. The difference in sound quality, clarity and channel separation is nothing short of remarkable. I'm a little hard of hearing so I always had to crank up the center channel on the old system, and even rely on closed captioning a good deal of the time. No more. I can only describe the difference by saying that the old system just threw sound at you, while this new one surrounds you completely. I now feel like I'm a part of whatever I'm viewing. The sound just totally immerses you with a clarity that is better than most movie theaters. The dialog is crisp and clear without overpowering the rest of the sound like the old system did. After having watched a few TV shows, DVD's and BluRays I have actually been startled by the sound effects like never before. It's still hard to believe that the sound out of this little 2" high soundbar, coupled with a SW and two rear speakers sounds SO much better than the old 1000W 6.1 system it replaced - and best of all, no wires. I didn't even have to go through any kind of setup process. I plugged in the SW and the rear speakers and they just started playing. This was definitely a worthwhile upgrade.

I got these rear speakers to go with my SA-Z9F soundbar, which is the only sound bar they can be used with. All pairing/fine tuning adjustments for these + the SA-Z9F sub, are done thru the AS-Z9F AV remote (RMT-AH400U). They are small but heavy, but put out quality sound. Like any rear speaker, they are not meant to be equal to your front speakers but they are good quality. They are pricey, but if you want the full 5.1 experience, you will be happy.
