The sound of the speaker may become low when the built-in battery is running low and the CHARGE indicator flashes slowly, while the speaker is being powered by the built-in battery only or when the ambient temperature of the speaker is high. After a low volume break-in of about 20 hours, the magic came alive. Using LDAC, stereo mode, streaming Tidal, and using a Sony DAP the sound was very balanced with no frequency overpowering the other. Music that was streamed went from Heavy Metal to Big Band and the speaker handled it without issue. Look elsewhere if you are looking for "It's all about the bass" The jury is still out on price vs performance. However, in this market crowded with Bluetooth speakers, this is a big gulp of fresh air
