JBL partybox 310 vs SONY XP-500

Much better/deeper bass in volume, great lightweight properties, wheels and telescoping handles for easy transport, plus holes for speaker stands so you can lift it above the dance floor to project more sound. If your use case is hosting medium to large scale dance parties or hosting events, JBL is definitely your choice. Note that none of the speakers have RCA or XLR inputs. Neither speaker is the best choice if you're looking to start a side business as a DJ, but the JBL is the closest thing to an amateur DJ speaker. However, the Sony is actually a better "casual" speaker. In my opinion, it looks more understated, classy and understated than the JBL and has more subtle light features. They look great and work almost anywhere, from formal social events to casual home parties with friends. Lower volume means better sound quality, lower volume means more range. So if you want quiet background music during a dinner or social event, Sony can work with a wider range of volumes, but JBL wants the music to be as loud as possible. I also feel that the Sony has a more balanced sound and is suitable for a wide range of situations other than loud raves and crazy dance parties. Sony also has good battery life and battery saving features. This means the battery will likely outlast the JBL for years as it requires fewer charge cycles. In short, if you're an aspiring DJ and just want to throw dance parties and underground raves, go for JBL. If you're hosting a formal cocktail event on your patio or just want a speaker that suits a variety of situations, the Sony is a more versatile option. No audio output jacks for daisy chaining different brands of speakers and cannot be mounted on speaker stands. As long as it's less than the JBL, it's a decent buy overall. And come on Sony give us some variety and let's use speaker stands and audio outputs!!!

Sony XP500 review

This speaker is perfect for me. The sound is incredible. I didnt buy this for DJ ing huge parties. This is for back yard bbq. It is amazing. And Best Buy knocked it out of the park. I will tell you why. You can go to the store and listen to every speaker they have in stock. And thats what I did. And they had an open box for $70 off in perfect condition. Yes this speaker is loudest when plugged in. But guess what? I have an extension chord. So it can be really loud. Its not the fanciest and the app could be better, but the lights on chill mose are really...well...chill. I have listened to everthing from Elton John to Metallica, and the bass is perfect. I think this speaker sounds the best on the ground so it is not too "in your face" when turned up loud. The XP700 would be for DJs. This one is for me.

Little big thang with great sound and bass

We have a large home, and when I’m upstairs and in the mood to listen to music and listen loud with a lot bass, I turn this sucker on, the whole house can hear it, lol. It also travels well too. Very impressed, glad I purchased it. If you’re on the fence, climb over, it’s with the purchase.

The sound quality is very nice and the mega bass is really good, but the issue is it has to be plugged in to the outlet for max sound. If you unplug it the power of sound suffers. Still,bang for buck sounds great.

The maximum sound volume for playing music depends on whether the speaker is running on power from the connected AC outlet or from the rechargeable built-in battery. This, however, does not indicate a malfunction. If the sound is low, please check the following:
Charge the built-in battery sufficiently.
To play music louder, connect the speaker to an AC outlet.
Turn up the volume of the speaker and the connected device.
Check that the connected device is playing.

Mostly use it outside for yard/grilling and the bass and audio are super clean. Sometime the bass does over power the actual song but i think you adjust that in the app which i havent download yet Beside would for sure get another and pair them Or spend more and get the slighty bigger one

After trying multiple JBL speakers, onn party speaker, ion party speaker, etc, I've finally found a speaker that has amazing bass! My store had this on demo (the Sony wasn't on my radar) and after hearing it compared to the other speakers on demo at the store, and the other speakers I already own, I must say this is the best portable Bluetooth speaker I've heard. It was a little more than I wanted to spend but trust me it's worth every penny!

Reading reviews and going in store to test multiple brands and models, I went with this Sony speaker for a few reasons. It looks sleek, love the speaker placement and how clear and powerful they are. The lights are a plus for night time gatherings, its easy to carry and can be laid on its side or standing up. Very easy to learn to use and the app is good too. I bought this speaker to use for a small wedding ceremony, as sound reinforcement for the officiant. The ceremony was held in a pasture on the side of a mountain here in Hawaii, with no way to get power to the site. Using some ingenuity, a Jackery power supply also purchased from Best Buy, some lavalier microphones, and a mixer, the Sony XP500 performed wonderfully. The sound was clear and clean, and people asked more about the speaker than they did about the ceremony! Great purchase, worth every penny!

The two subwoofers are punchy at low volumes, and room-shaking when cranked up. Battery life is solid, and connectivity is consistent. Decent volume but critics may be correct on lack of punch when not plugged in, but still good enough for a modest social gathering outside. Guitar and mic inputs are awesome though I am still trying to figure out if the amp guitar button works. When my guitar is plugged in without the guitar button on, I get sound, when I turn on the guitar button (white light comes on) I get no sound.

It. Is. Awesome. The only thing that's better is more than one. After buying the first one I immediately ordered a second. The app makes it easy to "stereo" pair them. They even announce which side they are when you turn them on (right or left). Sony thought of everything with this speaker. The sound quality from 2 paired in stereo mode is unreal. I use them outdoors and they fill the area with crisp clear sound and bass that doesn't quit. Last night they weren't predicting rain so I left them outside. Naturally there was a deluge of rain overnight. While I wouldn't recommend letting them sit out in a downpour they are just fine. I can't recommend this enough. You won't regret this purchase.
