Design of this phone body is elegant. Some less noticeable pluses: + The frame has a nice corner geometry. + There is no glass backplate which helps reduce weight. + Display is flat and not curved. + There is no notch cutout in the display for the camera. + It has a standardized aspect ratio display 21:9 ultra wide. + Display has higher resolution and ppi than the best flagship phones. + it has video out on the charge port. Now some downsides: - it has bezel lengthwise which makes it noticably thinner than others at same price. - camera isnt the absolute best for this price range but its still competitive. - the android OS has less settings available than its competitors things like battery optimize, background app, etc. - doesnt have its own proprietary app store like samsung which have their own keyboards or notes apps which are better than google's. - very limited accessories that are not readily available in stores u have to order them. Overall conclusion: If the specs you really care about is screen real estate and camera (like most ppl) than you'd be more satisfied with mainstream flagships at similar price. But if you have specific needs and interests only this phone can satiate them.

Hi untitledsprintcustomer, Thank you for taking the time to review the Xperia 1 IV 4K HDR 120 fps video recording with a 4K HDR OLED display. The Xperia 1 IV combines signature Sony craftsmanship with elegant, understated design. Minimising the edge shape gives it a better grip that feels good in the hand, while the frosted glass on the back and the metal frame have a distinctive super matte finish for a beautiful, high-precision look. With Xperia’s signature speed at its core, the Xperia 1 IV has a triple lens camera that can record 4K HDR 120fps on all lenses. It can capture photos at 20fps burst with AE/AF in HDR and boasts a new true optical zoom 85-125mm. And it lets you share your experiences on the go with video and game live streaming. The Xperia 1 IV delivers the best of Sony to every user and creator. There are standout features for videographers and photographers, and major wins for mobile gamers, whether they’re eSports players or streamers. Audiophiles benefit from decades of Sony sound and music expertise, along with new Music Pro for studio-style song recording. And cinephiles will appreciate the brightest smartphone 4K HDR 120Hz display ever. Watching a movie with Dolby Atmos® is an immersive experience, with multi-dimensional sound flowing above and around you. Now you can experience Dolby Atmos® sound tuned in collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment with headphones or the Full-stage stereo speakers. Thanks for sharing this review. Jay Sony_US

First off, the phone itself feels fairly cheap. It has a more squared off style corner design, a little on the thick side and the plastic housing seems cheap. It reminds me of the size and build of cheap Windows phone I had years ago. Even the power/volume buttons and the way the feedback responds when you hit screen buttons feels cheap. At first glance this certainly doesn't look like a premium phone. When setting this phone up you have the option to set up a fingerprint scan. I've done this with other phones without issue, but with this phone it is nearly impossible to get it set up. I tried on two different occasions and finally just gave up. It shouldn't be that hard to do, but Sony somehow managed to do just that. This phone seems to have quite possibly the worst flashlight of any phone. It is a more yellowish light and dim. I use my phone flashlight fairly often and this one is awful. Worse than that, there is no option to adjust the brightness, which should be standard on Android, but not this phone. The audio offers several different customization options like Dolby Surround, 360 reality and DSEE Ultimate, which upscales compressed audio. That's all good and well, but this phone maximum output is about 60% of other phones I have tried. The audio is just low output and I see no way to change that. So if you were to have been using say a Bluetooth speaker on a different Android and switch to this, chances are the volume output of the Xperia 1 IX will be MUCH lower. For me, someone who listens to a lot of Bluetooth audio, this is a HUGE negative. No excuse for that. Now the phone does have some pluses. The phone camera is outstanding and offers many customization options for video and photos. Games play without any significant issues and the screen is very nice.....but not durable. I found this the hard way and already have a cracked screen. Buy the thickest and most shock resistant screen protector/case you can find for this fragile phone. So in the end, this premium priced phone has some impressive photo/video and processor options you would expect. It's the little things that this phone gets wrong, so wrong. For me this is a really bad fit and not a phone I would recommend.

      Hi MIXMASTERICE,

We're sorry to hear that you're having issue with this Xperia 1 IV 5G 512GB. We apologize for the inconvenience. Your camera automatically adjusts the color and brightness value by detecting the light conditions and estimating the color temperature of ambient light. Digital cameras can only estimate the color temperature, so you may need to adjust the settings to get it correct. If you experience yellow-colored photos in indoor environments or bluish photos when using the flash, try adjusting the color. Use the Bluetooth function to send files to other Bluetooth compatible devices, or to connect to handsfree accessories. Bluetooth connections work better within 10 meters (33 feet), with no solid objects in between. Pairing is necessary to connect to other Bluetooth devices. With a range of features developed with professional eSports players, the Xperia 1 IV is designed to meet the demands of top-level mobile gaming. The 6.5" 120Hz Refresh rate display, for example, offers incredibly smooth gameplay, while L-γ raiser (Low gamma raiser) makes it easier to see your opponents in the dark. Other highlights include 240Hz Touch scanning rate for incredibly fast, precise moves and Touch block to avoid mistakes. Upgraded and so far so good.. Now to be fair I came from a phone I've had for about 5 years so the upgrade was more than usual for me compared to others who upgrade regularly. Once I had it unboxed and inspected I checked online about how to easily transfer my phone data (Contacts etc.,,) to this phone. It "seemed" to good to be true but I followed the instructions, which were nothing more than to hook up a USB-C cable to my new phone and old phone and use a transfer app/program. Within minutes I was all transferred. Once I got it all fired up and running the very first thing that was very apparent was the heat. Yes this phone does get warm. At least compared to my previous phone which wasn't nearly this warm after a few minutes. Time will tell if that becomes an issue but seeing how I'm a few generations apart from this phone to my previous phone I don't know how normal this is. It will take a while to get used to all the upgrades in this phone but so far the quality of the phone, calls, audio, screen clarity and camera all blow my previous phone away by far. I'm not a photo guy but man the pictures this phone takes are , well...great. I was a tad disappointed no charger or ear plugs came with it but it is what it is. Normally I dock for that but with how this phone as performed so far... I can live with it.

Hi Skyboxer, Thank you for taking the time to review the Xperia 1 IV 512GB, 4K HDR 120 fps video recording with a 4K HDR OLED display. All Xperia® smartphones have features to regulate their temperature when it continues to rise to help you stay safe. The following conditions may affect the temperature of your device to rise:
Using under high temperatures or direct sunlight (using in an environment outside the range of 5°C to 35°C / 41°F to 95°F).
Simultaneously running multiple apps, communication, and GPS, and using apps such as CPU-intensive games for an extended period.
Charging at high temperatures or using defective or low-quality cables.
      Initial setup after purchase.
      Software update.

If you see any warning messages that show your device's temperature continues to rise, we recommend that you take the following actions:

      1. Unplug the charger and close the running apps until the device cools down.
      2. Turn off GPS and Bluetooth when not in use.
      3. Reduce the brightness of your device's screen.
      4. Update your device's software and apps to the latest software version.
      5. Use the FHD 1080p setting for video recording.
      6. Check battery usage: If you have an app that consumes a lot of battery power even though you use it infrequently, update the app to the latest version or uninstall it.

Find and tap Settings → Battery → Battery usage.

We recommend contacting the retail store if the supplied items was missing inside the box.

In any case that you need our assistance, please chat with us from Sony’s e-support webpage. Hope this helps! Jay Sony_US

    Horrible

This phone is absolutely horrible. It is a Google phone period and came broken as so many do. With these specs there shouldn't be lag but there is more than my ten year old Galaxy. It freezes, over heats, doesn't hold a charge. Call quality it horrible. The camera has zero separation in the color and is way too dark. For this money buy a used car then purchase a much better phone with what's left over. And don't get me started on Sony's horrible customer service.

      Hi Elle,

We're sorry to hear about your issue with this Xperia 1 IV 4K HDR 120 fps video recording with a 4K HDR OLED display. We apologize for the inconvenience. If the device hangs or freezes temporarily, please follow the troubleshooting steps.
      Restart your device.
If your device hangs or freezes and doesn't restart normally, force the device to restart.
Remove the SIM card and memory card (if present), and then restart the device.
Free up space from the memory (internal memory and external microSD card if present). The device may experience stability issues, such as freezing and sluggishness if the memory is almost full.
Start the device in safe mode to check if one or more apps are causing the problem. In safe mode, the phone only starts with pre-installed software and apps.
Update your Xperia device to a new software version using Xperia Companion or the Software update feature in the Settings menu.
Perform a factory data reset or if you can't access the device, perform a software repair using Xperia Companion.
Contact your retailer or a Sony Mobile repair partner. Before handing the phone in for service, back all your data to avoid data loss. Data on the device may be deleted during the examination. Don't forget to bring proper documentation, for example, your proof of purchase and warranty card. The required documentation may vary depending on market, country or region. If possible, deactivate Find My Device/Protection by my Xperia and remove the Google accounts on your device before sending it in for service or repair to prevent Find My Device/Protection by my Xperia or Google Device Protection from locking your device.
If you use your device to talk, transmit data, or play games or music for an extended time, the device may get hot. This is normal because in these conditions the device uses more power than usual and therefore generates more heat. Update your device to ensure that you have optimal performance and the latest enhancements.

With Xperia’s signature speed at its core, the Xperia 1 IV has a triple lens camera that can record 4K HDR 120fps on all lenses.1 It can capture photos at 20fps burst with AE/AF in HDR3 and boasts a new true optical zoom 85-125mm. And it lets you share your experiences on the go with video4 and game live streaming.

This piece of trash cant even use wifi when the battery falls below 20%!!! I'll let u guess what all the other faults it has as an easter egg. Completely gutter trash phone as a flagship device! The singular reason it was chosen over an infinitily superior samsung was for its screen not having STUPID CURVED EDGES AND CAMERA NOTCHES RUINING IT! So, for having this nice screen you will be living with ALOT of compromises! Sony is really dropping the ball here. The moment stupid samsung get their heads out of their butts and make a flagship FLATSCREEN phone u can forget about sony phones ever having existed, for good. Thanks samsumg, for making me resort to using such a trash phone!!!
