My first impression of this speaker is...WOW! Obviously the first thing you notice about the XV900 is the sheer massiveness of it. This is a party speaker on steroids! This guy is not just big, it's solid. I notice no flexing of the cabinet at all. There's a lot of features that come with a speaker like this so let's start with the physical part. For anyone not paying attention.... it's large. But the cabinet has really nice look to it. Sleek and modern yet at the same time almost industrial. The overall design of the cabinet is innovative and functional. Everything is contained in a cylindrical package, even the handles. With a 60lb beast like this, you want sturdy handles and this speaker has them. You can grab the front or back handle to position it, use both to lift it, or tilt it back on its wheels to drive it to its intended location. The wheels are a great addition on a speaker this size but I will say, I found them feeling like a bit of an afterthought. They're far too small to be of much use on anything other than a solid smooth surface. They're not great on carpet and I can only imagine they won't be at all useful on a lawn. After all, getting the speaker to the party is the most basic request anyone can have. The speaker arrangement is very unique. Not sure why but Sony chose to go with a square woofer in this cabinet. This is my first run in with a square speaker, and I can't find anything to complain about with it. The bass is deep and rich and as present as you want it to be. If you find it's not enough for you, you can always turn on the Mega Bass, and as expected, you get even more bass. The cabinet ports help to deliver clear tight low end, so feel free to crank it up. Time will tell whether the square design holds up as well as a round one would. I count two midrange speakers facing out the front and they are likewise, clean sounding. The four tweeters (two facing forwards and two on the top rear) along with two side facing horns help to deliver a spacious experience around the room. Anyone who has used and enjoyed the sound of a Sony portable speaker will not be disappointed in the sound of this unit. Everything is well balanced and the low end will add some good sound pressure thumps. If you download the Sony Music Center app, you get even more benefits on sound adjustments and features. For starters, Your presented with selections for your music library, Pandora, Spotify and probably others if you already have accounts. These are the two streaming apps I use so these were my choices. There's also a settings icon that will take you to (you guessed it) a whole host of setting choices. If you tap on the three dots at the top right you can search for your favorite music app. YouTube, iHeartRadio, Google TV and Samsung Music are the other choices you have. There is also a three band equalizer in there as well. I don't think you need the app, but it is a nice one. A lot more than an afterthought, the MyLibrary selection is a great way to get started listening (if you store music on your phone). The layout is pretty good and you have different ways to view the music in your library, by folders, genre, songs, albums, artist and playlist. I normally use HEOS when I can because it just always works and is so intuitive, but I did like the Sony app. I was able to get up and running very quickly and find my way around without any trouble. If you want to use it from the top mounted control panel, you won't be disappointed. This panel is nice and large and colorful. All the buttons you want are there. The obvious power button with a charge indicator below, volume and transport buttons, Bluetooth indication, Mega Bass, audio source selected and a button to turn on or off the lighting affects. While you're somewhat limited to turning them on or off and selecting a basic color scheme, in the app you can additionally select the type of lighting affect you want. I really liked the lights on this guy. They're bright and very colorful, and add a lot of party ambiance to the room. There are a lot of features on this speaker, and I doubt everyone who chooses this speaker will use them all, but that speaks to the versatility and forward thinking of including all these bells and whistles. You have the ability to plug in not one, but two microphones or a microphone and an instrument. Both have their own volume controls. You can plug in an optical link or use the 1/8” audio in jack. You can plug in a USB (USB-A connector) drive, or use this port to charge your device. You can even choose the way you use the battery with the push of a button. I think they've pretty much covered all the I/O bases on the back panel. One feature that I found really cool was the ability to connect this speaker with up to 100 other Sony portable speakers. I'm fortunate to also have the Sony SRS-XG500 and SRS-XB41 speakers, and I can tell you it works very well with little setup. You actually have two choices for how you want to use the “Party Connect” mode. You can have each speaker play the same thing (mono setup), or you can choose to have a stereo setup where one speaker is the left channel and the other is the right. Not sure how the stereo mode works with more than two speakers. I think to make this speaker even better, Sony should really consider larger wheels for the cabinet. With a speaker this heavy, it's not a convenience to be able to move it around easily, it's a necessity, and with bigger wheels that would be more possible. One more thing they could add would be a way for the app to stream music from your network device (NAS or computer). I have an SD card on my phone with most of my music on it but I keep everything on my NAS device. I'm guessing there are other people that do the same. If you've been disappointed with the anemic sound coming out of your current portable party speaker, you may need something with a lot more beef. May I suggest giving the XV900 a try. First and foremost, great sound. Pair this with all the features Sony gives you with this speaker and I'm pretty sure you won't be unhappy. And as long as you have the prerequisite “three men and a boy” to transport this guy, all will be good!

My first thoughts when I saw the box was, WOW THATS HUGE!! Haha. This speaker is massive in size but the fact that it has wheels makes it so easy to move around. Out of the box my speaker had 80% battery which was great to be able to set it up immediately. It was very easy to link up via Bluetooth after downloading the Sony Music Center app. It immediately gave me the options to access all music in my library and I was playing music within just a few minutes out of the box. There was another app that I downloaded since it was an option called Fiestable. Having never owned Sony speakers, soundbars or surrounds I had no idea what it was. After exploring it a little I found it quite fun. It has a DJ mode, Karaoke mode and a few other options with light effects that interacted with this speaker. I will definitely use this app in conjunction with the Sony Music Center app when we have parties. The sound is amazing! Of course we play it with the mega bass option on and when turned up just a little, the bass vibrates our walls and floors. The feature that I love so far is the lights and how they go along with the music. This will for sure be a great addition to our parties. We plugged our mic in (not included) and did a short little singing session in karaoke mode. It had another port for a guitar but we weren’t able to test that feature out. Overall, the voice quality from the mic was to be expected. Worked well and it was fun for our group. This speaker also came with a digital optical audio cable for the tv. To be honest, I didn’t even try that option only because of the size of the speaker. I think this speaker will be great to bring out for our events but to have it in my living room where space already is a big challenge for me wasn’t appealing at all. Overall, I believe for a person who loves being the entertainment spot for friends and family this is an excellent choice of speaker. The price is a little high but for the quality of sound and features you’re getting, I feel it’s justified. Way to go Sony!

Coming from an 88 baby. I grew up with bass and loud music. I also remember having and nice stereo as a young teen and the bass meant the most. It has bass but nothing like I want. I have yet to take it to the beach but that will be the real test. lol.

This is a really nice speaker. While the design evokes 360 deg. sound from all sides, I find that the sound emits mostly from the front, forming a cone of about 160 degrees. That said, it’s quality, hearty sound, which is perfect for parties. This thing really projects… and if you want bass, you’ve got some real, quality bass at the ready. The sound seems equally impactful whether it’s back is against the wall (practical), or positioned more centrally (to celebrate that light show!) Build quality is also exceptional. It has that great Sony-black look with smooth plastic and metal elements that come together with tight seams and quality design. It’s sleek, yet rugged in the robustness of each element - like the top handles, for example, which feel strong and solid. The light show this puts out is surprisingly a lot of fun too. It does a nice job of aligning the lights to the music playing with plenty of variety in its movements and patterns. Light reflects indirectly off the soft black housing, smoothing it out in a really tasteful way and projecting pretty far across the floor - More-so than the official product images suggest. Sony gave a lot of buttons up top to select specific colors, but letting it use the whole spectrum is the way to go. And if you don't want a light show, it's easy to keep them off. The app is also fine, and appears to be the primary way to adjust EQ levels and check in on your speaker's battery level. Some of it is too hidden within settings, but does the trick and works, which is what really matters. When looking for your perfect music solution, I wouldn’t put this in direct comparison to a multi-speaker system. The sound quality is similarly high quality when calibrated, but you won’t get that multi-room all around sound. Instead you’ll leverage a much better projection, higher volumes and a lot of extra bass when you want it. It’s a real room-filler. Hence why this is a ‘party speaker’ first and foremost. And while it’s designed to be more specialized (you can go wireless outdoors and run off the battery, which is of course is a huge selling point, after all), I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a modern boombox approach to enjoying music in the home. Very impressed.

I recently purchased the Sony XV900 X-Series Bluetooth Party Speaker, and it has completely transformed my gatherings! From the moment I set it up, I knew I was in for something special. The sound quality is absolutely incredible. The bass is powerful and deep, thanks in part to the built-in subwoofer, which gives the music that extra punch. Whether I’m blasting dance tracks or playing some chill acoustic music, the audio clarity is top-notch. It really fills the room, and my friends can’t stop raving about how great it sounds! The sleek design of the XV900 fits perfectly with my decor. The RGB lighting is a fantastic feature—it syncs with the music and creates an awesome vibe at parties. Everyone loves watching the lights dance along with the beats! One of the best things about this speaker is the battery life. I’ve used it for over 6 hours straight at parties, and it still had plenty of juice left. The Quick Charge feature is a lifesaver too; it’s great for last-minute plans. I never have to worry about it dying out on me during a big night. Easy to Move Around While it’s a bit heavier than some other speakers, the wheels and handle make it easy to transport. I can roll it outside for a backyard party or bring it inside for movie night without any hassle. It’s definitely a portable powerhouse! The Sony Music Center app is a great addition. I can customize the sound settings and even link it to other Sony speakers for an epic surround sound experience. The subwoofer really enhances the overall audio experience, making it feel like a concert right in my living room. It’s super easy to use, which is a big plus for me. Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my purchase of the Sony XV900. It’s made my gatherings so much more fun, and I’ve gotten tons of compliments on the sound and lighting. If you’re looking for a high-quality party speaker that delivers on performance, especially with that booming bass from the subwoofer, I highly recommend the XV900. It’s worth every penny!

I went to Best Buy to pick something up and I saw the display of speakers and I saw the Sony XV700 and it did sound great and this XV900 sounds amazing. I have a portable projector and it has small speakers and by adding the XV900 I have a theater on the go. The Speaker comes with good instructions on how to take it out of the box and right out of the box I played the demo and it sounds amazing, deep but not overwhelming bass, very clear highs as well. It is easy to pair with a Bluetooth device including my laptop and my cell phone and the application it is just another great addition. The battery can last up to 25 hours and that is more than enough for a party, right out of the box the speaker comes with charge but it is recommended to charge it for at least an hour. I like that it does have the Battery Care mode, this lets the battery charge up to 90 percent and does not overcharge so it gives it more life. This is very helpful when it is plugged to my projector at home. And if you leave the speaker disconnected for a long time just make sure you charge it every month or so, that way the battery lasts longer, that is with any battery powered product. I like that it does come with Bluetooth Version 5.2 so it has a very nice range of communication indoors and outdoors. I can play music or charge my phone using the USB as well. The speaker is around 60 lbs. so it is heavy, but it comes with wheels in the back so it is easy to move around. The handles are hidden with the design of the speaker to lift and pull from. I like the design of the speaker including the panel on top that is clear but once it is on, the controls appear and with the soft touch buttons it is easy to control as well as from the application. The sound is superb and it does not get distorted at all. I like how the sound comes from the speakers from the sides, front and back. With Sound booster, my projector does not sound weak any more. It sounds amazing with the 12.6 x 12.6 inch woofer. And with Party connect; I can connect more speakers to make it a bigger party (up to 100 speakers). With the Music center app I can play around with the sound and lights and with the Fiestable app you can further play around with DJ Effects, karaoke, lights and more. The karaoke mode while using the application you can adjust the echo, have voice changer, and it also keeps score of each singer and also the ranking. Sound effects, it comes with different preset sound effects, including Robot, Drums, Scratch, Audience, Voice, Phaser, Raggae Horn, and you can also control the sound by shaking your phone. Illumination, you can change the colors, also use the presets and you can even control it by moving your phone and it will change the lights. The lights look great and at first I wanted more lights in the front but after turning it on, the LEDs are bright and the speaker looks elegant with not so many lights on it. I also like the party playlist, that way instead of family and friends asking to play their favorite songs, they can be included so the speaker plays everybody’s songs. Overall the speaker is versatile, from using it with my projector, stand alone at a party even at the park or beach, everyone is enjoying it including the karaoke mode for those in my family that like to sing.

I recently picked up the Sony XV900, and it has completely blown me away. This isn’t just a speaker—it’s an experience. From sound quality to lighting to battery life, it delivers in every category. Sound: The audio is crystal clear, even at high volumes. The bass is deep and punchy, making it perfect for house parties, outdoor gatherings, or even just solo jam sessions. Sony’s X-Balanced Speaker Unit and Omnidirectional Party Sound really fill the room with powerful, immersive audio. Lighting & Design: The built-in lighting effects add a whole new vibe. It syncs with the beat and sets the perfect mood whether you’re partying or relaxing. Plus, the sleek tower-style design looks modern and is easy to roll around thanks to the built-in wheels. Battery Life & Connectivity: I got over 24 hours of playback on a full charge, which is impressive for a speaker this powerful. It charges fast and also has USB charging for your phone. Bluetooth connectivity is quick and stable, and you can even connect multiple sources using the Party Connect feature. Extra Features I Love: • The touch panel is intuitive and responsive. • There’s a guitar/mic input, turning it into a mini PA system. • It has TV Sound Booster, which makes it awesome for movies and gaming too. Final Thoughts: If you’re looking for a high-end, portable speaker that delivers big sound, eye-catching lights, and serious battery life, the Sony XV900 is absolutely worth every penny. Perfect for music lovers, party hosts, or anyone wanting to upgrade their sound system

Review and description fix ... This is bluetooth not wifi wireless. Its got a battery. And puts out more sound then the new sony ult line up. It also has controlls on top for lights power save and on the back. Battery level built in. Guitar amp i love this speaker. The wheels are a bit small so they arnt the best only flat floors i would want to drag it outside to the car. Its best to drive up too the door after u wheel it. So the buttom stays mostly unscratched. Cleaning it just use a little dawn dishsoap. Like 4 drops in a gallon or less water. No less then one half gallon mix it up. Take a clean soft rag no paper towels. To reduce. Scratchs. Cleam the hole speaker. Use a dry rag to wipe out side speaker cones. The app is great. You should. Install it on your phone right away. To update your speaker firmware. I would buy. It again. And again. Id tather have it over jbl. A sony shake 33 or higher. Together. Sounds. Amazing i was astonished

The Sony XV900 totally immerses you in sound! So needless to say, Sony has made yet another great product. This Compact speaker system is large in size, but enormous in sound output. The XV900 is how all music should be presented. It seems that every genre of music played is like I’m at a live concert. For playing music, making a connection to this Sony speaker couldn’t have been any simpler. I plugged it in and once I saw the Bluetooth light blinking, I did a search on my phone and when XV900 popup on my screen I joined the two together. Once connected using the music center app I was able to join multiple Sony speakers. I have the SRS-XB31 and SRS-XB41 and with all three combined the soundstage was amazing. I think the way Sony is able integrate their speakers is second to none and this company knows how to do sound. For video entertainment I was able to use connect via Bluetooth my LCD projector. This setup was a hit the other night with the family and neighbors. We did an outdoor movie night and not only could you clearly hear what the actors were saying you could actually feel the sound emitting from the speaker. It was just like being at an outdoor movie theater and needless to say a hit with friends and family. I will say if you live in a duplex, you must be courteous to the tenants next door because this thing will shake walls. Over the years I’ve had many speaker systems in all shapes and sizes, but none compare to the XV900. This placement of the speakers inside of this system is just perfect. They way it reproduces sound is amazing and no matter the volume it sounds crisp and clear. The versatility of it is very appealing and its very portable. It does have some heft to it, but what should you expect to something so well built. The craftmanship of this speaker cabinet is amazing both in sound quality and aesthetics. If you’re looking for your next all in one speaker system look no further the Sony XV900 does everything great. If you want to play music, sing karaoke, rock out with your guitar or create a home cinema then look no more. I’m thoroughly pleased with this setup, and definitely recommend the SRSXV900.

The sound was amazing, with or without the extra bass. We rented out a soccer gym for a party and with just this speaker we filled up the place with music. We connected a phone via bluetooth and played music. We also connected a microphone for speeches and it was great. Worth the money for sure. We were our dj and sony didnt disappoint with this speaker. Another feature i liked was that it has wheels in the back which made it super eqsy to move around! 10 out of 10 for me! Wow...that were the first out of my mouth when the box arrived for the Sony XV900 bluetooth party speaker. I thought to myself the box is huge and weighs a ton, what the heck is actually in here. When I opened it and saw it is basically the speaker, manual and two cables, with not a lot padding I was like this is way bigger than I expected. The speaker is only slightly shorter than my 4 year old daughter and sure you think a 4 year is not that big how big can this speaker be well once you get one in your house and see it standing up you realize how big it is. Regardless of the size the sound is phenomenal, its gotta plenty of bass that i never had to use the extra bass mode. I will say that a speaker this size is a bit disappointment that it does not quite as good at low volumes as it does once you go higher. It can get incredibly loud without any distortion. This thing is the ultimate bluetooth party speaker. No one will complain about not being to hear it. It also has inputs for instruments and a mic. I was not able to test it, but with how well it sounds on bluetooth I can imagine it would be pretty great to use a guitar on. Battery life is really good it is rated for 25 hours I was able to go past 30 hours which is amazing for a speaker this size and the amount of sound it can produce. If you need a speaker for big parties this is definitely worth pickup.
