As poker is the game of life to be played on the grandest stage, the Sony MDR-ZX100/BLK stereo headphones deliver a full house of concert sound performance. A chanteuse’s stunning nightclub performance. An aria with forceful impact. A piano concerto in full glory. A rock opera at its zenith. The Sony headphones provide spectacular sound for rock, opera, jazz, love songs, rhythm and blues, disco, bluegrass, hip-hop, club, dubstep, dance, trance, electronica, and classical music out of a small and lightweight frame. The neodymium drivers produce elegant vocals on Broadway musical soundtracks, lush background vocals on country music, and they offer superb midrange instrumental reproduction. Bass performance is articulate, clean, well-defined, and punchy on heavy metal music. Bass tracks associated with the present club music milieu are surprisingly good, demonstrating crisp response, without the traditional low end muddiness associated with other value priced headphone products. The Sony headphones provide a wide molded adjustable headband for maximum comfort, padded ear cushions for a snug fit over the ears, and large diameter stereo drivers for spacious sound effects on movies, music, or computer real-time strategy games. These Sony stereo headphones are so comfortable, that I tend to forget that I am wearing them within a truncated time span. The sonic depth of the Sony headphones offers all-encompassing warmth, nuance, detail, and realistic sound quality over the entire treble and midrange frequency spectrum. Rest assured that these Sony headphones offer aggressive low bass performance at the lowest ends of the earphone market price scale. Considering the extraordinary quality of sound reproduction that this product offers, this item competes very well against other more expensive bass focused headphone brands. Whether it’s for an iPod, iPod classic, iPod nano, iPod shuffle, iPod touch, iPad, iPhone, iMac, Sony Walkman MP3 Player, Zune, Blu-ray player, shortwave radio, HD radio, internet radio, satellite radio boombox, portable cassette player, CD player, or the latest console game system, the Sony headphones reconstruct an accurate soundstage or virtual 3D battlefield to the delight of bass heavy music enthusiasts and dedicated gamers everywhere. I am unable to hear other outside distractions in my immediate surrounding environment when wearing the Sony headphones. Sound leakage is kept to a minimum thanks to the closed dynamic ear cup design. Primarily, I use the Sony MDR-ZX100 headphones with my Sony SRF-M37W Walkman to achieve perfect fidelity on FM music stations, natural voice tones on 24 hour/7 day AM sports talk radio stations, and super clear reception on Weather Band forecasts. The Sony MDR-ZX100 stereo headphones sport an attractive appearance with its lightweight over-the-ear design, quality construction, black ear cup exterior finish, and a 3.9 ft. dual-sided rugged Y-type cord. The Sony MDR-ZX100 stereo headphones feature excellent form, superb fitness for its intended outdoor use purposes, and perfect function for prolonged, enjoyable, and relaxed listening sessions. The Sony headphones come with a 90-day parts and labor limited manufacturer warranty. The Sony stereo headphones do not come with a carrying pouch, in-line volume control, or a unimatch stereo plug adapter for connection to a component stereo headphone jack. You will need a 1/8" to ¼" (3.5mm to 6.33mm) stereo headphone jack plug adapter to connect the Sony MDR-ZX100 headphones to a home stereo system. The headphones are compatible with any pocket radio's monaural earphone jack with the use of a 3.5mm monaural-to-stereo plug adapter. A headphone extension cord can be used with the Sony headphones to listen to a component stereo system from across the room, if desired. The Sony headphones are not compatible with any noise canceling system that is featured in select Sony Walkman Video MP3 players. So whether you’re sitting on a park bench solving the world’s problems, saving the solar system from interplanetary destruction at the hands of an invading alien army during a late night arcade gaming stint, walking in the street on a sunny southern California summer day with an iPod in hand, putting an album together in the studio, jamming out to some favorite tunes at home after a stressful day, want an affordable upgrade pair of cans for the pocket radio, or you are listening to morning drive AM talk radio on the bus ride to work, the Sony MDR-ZX100/BLK headphones are an incredible budget conscious choice for any private listening session need. Good Luck. Enjoy.

I was looking for a headphone that was white, looked good, but would not break the bank. This Sony headphone fitted the bill perfectly. The little red you see on the headphone is to let users know that is the right side. On the left side there is a little tactile dot, so you can put these things on correctly without visibility. To me it was just icing on the cake. The base is on the average, but I came from some high bass in the ear headphones, so I immediately noticed the difference. These headphones bleed out sound, which for me is a double edged sword. I can wrap the headphones around my neck and pump the music. But, this can also bother others around you. These headphones are a little tight and there is no cushion on the band so it does begin to hurt a little if worn for about an hour. I actually ran with these. They have been ok so far, but I do not recommend them because they will shift around on your head. These were not marketed for athletic use, so I'm not angry about it. The quality and construction of the headphones are fairly robust. The cups in comparison to say Dr. Dre Beats Monster. The Monsters are thinner, but at about $200 price tag, it is comparing apples and oranges. I'm just giving a reference. Compared to a $200 studio headphone there is no comparison. People that say they are as good...umm no comment. The 3.5 mm jack is not gold plated and the cord is big and flat. This helps to keep it from getting tangled, and it feels much more robust. The name Sony speaks for itself. Sony typically does not make junk and this is no exception. I expect these headphones to go through a beating and last.

I had some In Ear headphones that only lasted 1 or 2 months and i got tired of it. I saw a bunch of my friends with this and they said it sounded good so i bought em, and for the price there's nothing wrong with trying them out. I've had them for like 3 months and the sound quality hasn't changed, and i use these for everything, Youtube videos, Anime, and music alike. The only thing that's change, is that the width of the headphones, or how much they spread out when u take them off has widened, but i dont really care about that. You get used to keeping them on your ears even when ur not listening to anything but thats a problem, cause after like 10 minutes it will make your ears feel sore, but moving them around or adjusting them will make that pain go away but it usually comes back right after that. And another thing I dont know if its just me but when i keep these around my neck it feels like its putting pressure against my neck and i dont like that feeling. Over all. The sound isnt AMAZING, But its really good for what you pay for, and Honestly the Apple EarPods sound better in comparison and i've listened to both several times to make an accurate comparison. The cushion is soft, but doesnt change the fact that it gets really sore after a while. But the fit is ok. The Cord is pretty long and im 6 foot 3, i don't know why people say its short....I have to stuff some of it in my pocket so it wont get caught on anything, like handles and stuff. Not a bad thing though. I bought these cause I cant afford Beats Solos, Monster Dna or any of those type of headphones but im saving up to get one of them, and honestly, i would buy Earpods instead just because of the soreness these headphones give my ears. You get used to it but its still not a good feeling. The Earpods sound a little better and give no pain to your ears like the previous models did. I still use these on a daily basis though, for Watching videos and anime as well as music, as i mentioned before. But if you are actually planning on getting headphones because you cant afford more expensive ones now get In ear ones instead but if you want an Over Ear headphones i guess you cant go wrong with these. But if you can afford better ones then go ahead and do that, and i guess i would recommend these to people that cant afford better headphones. It may sound like these are horrible but they really arent, i just wish the Cushion was better and didnt cause ear pain. And another thing these Headphones say Sound Canceling on the category but it DOES NOT do that. If your on the Train you will hear noises like when you're wait, and the train passes by you WILL hear that as clearly as it would sound if you didnt have the headphones on. Same if you were crossing the street on a busy road. My sister called me once and my volume was on high, and i still heard her clearly. So it doesnt really cancel sound at all.

All About The Sony Over-the-Ear Headphones Everyone in this day and age, loves music. Music is a way of life, a way of escape for some people. It can bring you relief after a hard day. We use music as a sound track of our everyday lives. When you live an a city like New York and you take the subway, an MP3 player and a great pair of headphones is your escape. It blocks our all of the craziness of the city when you don’t feel like dealing with it anymore. Every year I go through about 20 headphones, because I never want to spend more than five bucks on them. I finally got tired of always having to buy a new pair of headphones every month, so I gave in and started looking for headphones that are gonna last me for what i like to think is forever and that will block out every other sound or voice I don’t want to hear. I did research going to different websites, looking at reviews on what headphones I could find for a reasonable price. Then I saw everyone, walking around with these Sony Studio headphones mostly in white. I wanted to know what the big deal was about them, so I said let me try them. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. I paid about $27 for these headphones, twenty for the device itself, and $5.00 for the warranty, plus whatever tax best buy adds. When I opened them and first put them on, they were so comfortable. The ear cushions are soft, so your ears don’t feel like they’re being squished against your head. The headphones themselves are stylish, not too heavy and bulky like the overrated Beats headphones. The sound quality is amazing except for the fact that on certain songs you tend to hear more bass than lyrics, but that’s okay. I absolutely recommend that everyone who wants a great pair of headphones fro a reasonable price to get these ASAP!!. If you love music as much as I do, you will love these. And for girls who think the over the ear headphones are only for boys, you will love these they are made for everyone, and they go with almost every outfit we wear. GET THEM!! AND DON’T THINK TWICE ABOUT IT!

    Sacrificed looks for sound quality

This review is based on my experiences with other similarly priced headphones at comparable price ranges ($10-$40). First off, for only $20, I wasn't expecting these headphones to completely blow my mind. And they didn't, but perhaps it's just because I have too high of expectations for sound quality. These headphones instantly caught my eye at the store with their sleek, milk-white color, urban feel, and attractive price. After reading several positive reviews from many different websites, I decided to give this product a try. They seemed like they would produce a satisfactory sound just from the looks. However, for on-the-ear headphones, the bass was seriously lacking. With drivers larger than most regular headphones, I would think there would be a little more bass response from the music. Nevertheless, the sound remains tinny and flat (like the headphones included with an iPhone or iPod) even when using the "Bass Booster" EQ on my iPhone. Volume levels were also pretty low, which isn't much of an issue for me since I don't listen to my music very loud. Yet, I was able to turn my iPhone's volume all the way up, though, and still feel a somewhat lacking audible level. As for comfort, I only wore these for about ten minutes (while testing their sound quality), but they were perfect on the comfort scale for me: not too tight, not too loose, soft on the ears, easily adjustable, and very lightweight. There really wasn't anything amazing about these headphones that didn't keep me from returning them and purchasing something different. I took them back to Best Buy and instead bought some IN-ear Altec headphones (that literally crush these in sound quality and bass reproduction- and they're the exact same price). I am very satisfied with my decision to do this. I was really disappointed in these headphones because the sound quality wasn't anywhere near what I had preferred, plus I haven't found any other headphones that look this stylish and sleek, for such a great price! Overall: If you want a cheap pair of headphones for less than $25, are okay with mediocre sound quality, and want them to look similar to more expensive headphones (ex. Beats by Dr. Dre), these are for you. However, these are not for audiophiles searching for a pair of headphones with good bass response and better-than-average sound quality at low low price (like me). They simply won't cut it. Hope this helps.

For 20 dollars you can't go wrong with these headphones. I have a very nice pair of earbuds that I've been using for a few years, but lately they've become irritating - perhaps because of how often/long I use them? Who knows. I purchased these to alleviate that inner ear discomfort and I couldn't be happier. While these are definitely not the most comfortable headphones around, they are far more comfortable for me than earbuds. The sound quality is excellent for this price point, and about what you would expect for on-ear headphones. They are, thankfully, far better than the similarly priced headset/mics you see commonly used for skype or other voip applications. They are actually perfect or movie watching. Keep in mind though that these headphones do not cover the entire ear so sound is going to leak in and out so be discreet. I wouldn't recommend these headphones for serious gaming, but they're a perfect travel companion for a tablet or laptop. The build quality feels very flimsy. These are made of a very flexible plastic, and the fabric on the ear cups feel very thin. I will not be at all surprised to see some bare spots appear on the fabric, nor would I be surprised to see the headband break at some point. I'm pretty finicky about taking care of my gadgets, but I strongly suspect one good drop or some act of randomness will take these out of commission. Oddly the rubber (maybe silicone) cables and L-shaped jack feel very durable, moreso than the rest of the set. I'm actually considering coating the whole thing in sugru to toughen it up a bit. Anyway, if you want something that's cheap and good for day to day use, these are perfect. For the price you don't have to worry too much about damage as another set is waiting on the shelf for you.

"SONY" Headphones, whether stereo or otherwise, especially within this general price range, simply cannot and do not provide much more than giving the feel of listening to audio via headphones and of a somewhat private listening experience. The fact that the quality of audio gives an entertainment experience which is, in a word, unimpressive, should really not be surprising at all. I personally knew from a similar level of headphones, when in more youthful and naïve days, and these served a primary purpose of an initial learning experience. Actually, though some of these are slightly better than others, not offering near a wide-spectrum of audio, but in more of a way that one can usually hear sound that's considerably clearer and less raspy or distorted, as compared to another of this same price range. These are, also, not constructed to be durable, and probably won't withstand any quite average abuse. Even so, I strongly hesitate to say that you get what you pay for, since there is such a confusing selection of pricey, so-called high-end models from which to choose, and most of those are not necessarily as fantastic as claimed, in return for their expensive cost. This type of low-end model of headphone still has its purposes. For example, I'll purchase them for youngsters, much as how I came to know them, as an initial introduction to headphones, and many youngsters may find them enjoyable for a while, anyhow. Further, even now, I am willing to use these for the privacy aspect, and they can be sufficient for some computer audio or other very basic audio, not music but good for that such as the spoken word.

There are 3 things I like about these Headphones: 1) The price 2) The slim and swivel design 3) The Sensitivity I bought these headphones to listen to movies and music because the punch of the bass on my sound system is so strong, it would annoy everyone in the house. The price is unmatchable for the performance it delivers with style and comfort. The headphone for the right ear is marked with a red band for quick locating so I don't have to look for "L" or "R" markings. The padded earphones swivel to make a more comfortable fit. The sound it delivers is outstanding for a headphone of this price. It has a Sentivity of 100db/mW. Vocals and songs come out very clear; in fact I could not detect any distortion unlike my sound system, which is another reason why I use this for movies and songs on my PC. While watching movies, the deep bass does not overpower soft voices and I can listen with comfort without adjusting the volume. These headphones supplies adequate sound frequencies at all levels. I adjust the volume with my PC's volume control; but even this little shortcoming could not undermine the fact that these are excellent headphones for the budget shoppers. The only thing I wish it could have is a longer cord (the cord is 47 1/4" but I like to lay back and listen) and volume control... But then Sony would triple the price. : (

I went to my local WalMart first to get a pair of headphones but of coarse they were out of stock so I headed to Best Buy knowing they wouldn't be out of stock and they would have a wider selection. When I got to the headphones section at Best Buy these babys were sitting on a middle rack. When I saw them I had to have them. And they price is excellent. They are the best headphones out there for $20. The sound quality is excellent and had pretty good base. As far as comfort goes they are pretty comfortable but can become slightly uncomfortable after listening for a long time. But a 5-10 break from using them usually takes care of that. They are excellent when it comes to being sturdy and durable. They seem like they would break easily but they haven't broke yet and I've had them for about 4 days now. I know thats not long enough to tell but I swear I have a headphone curse or something and I always break mine...but not this time. They also look very stylish. I bought the white ones because they look better but they kind of look similar to the Beats by Dre. Overall an excellent pair of headphones.

These are some of the best sub-$50 headphones you will find in a sound-quality-and-comfort-to-price-paid ratio. First off, the comfort. Though I have a slightly larger head, they still fit comfortably and are neither loose nor tight. However, they don't fit quite as squarely on my ears as I would like, but very few headphones do. This lets in a tiny bit more ambient noise than some much higher-priced headphones. Second, the sound quality. Are these going to take on high-end headphones, like the Beats by Dr. Dre series? Of course not! But the sound reproduction is better than many sub-$50 headphones I've tried. The highs could be a little better, but the mids are covered fairly well, and the bass response is much better than I expected. Is it going to thump your ears off? Not a chance. But at least it's very noticeable. They are neither noise-canceling or noise-isolating, so they don't do a great job at blocking out background noise. But again, they're better than many others. For the money, these are great headphones. If you're a pure audiophile, drop $250 on the high-end headphones - don't waste your time with these. But if you want some good, every day sound at home or work, these will fit the bill nicely.

I am very picky about headphones, especially concerning the sound quality. however, i tend to break my headphones within a year, so i can never invest in Bose or Beats by Dr Dre. This headphone is a great fit for me. since i love rock and electronic, great clarity and heavy bass in headphones are important for me. i've gone through a lot of brands of headphones and this product is definitely one of my favorites in term of sound quality. it makes every song i listen to sound so much better. it is a really comfortable fit on my ears, i can wear it for hours without feeling pain. most importantly, it is super cheap, especially for a headphone with such great sound quality. most people complains that the cord is too short. but it's actually perfect for me because i hate untangling the cords every time i use these devices. i am not sure of its durability since i just bought it. but even if it breaks, i'll still buy it again. definitely worth it.

I first had a pair of these but in black but then i left them in reach of my dog and she chewed them all up. so i began to look for new over ear headphones and i looked towards Beats but they are way too pricey. so i decided to go back to these. i got them in white and i enjoy them. i use them everyday since i ride the train everyday to school. they are a good price and i really do recommend them to people who are looking for good headphones. Bass is good, highs and lows are good too. they do get uncomfortable after about two hours but everything on our body gets uncomfortable after a long time. they are durable, Ive actually dropped them a couple times on accident, nothing happened (don't drop them on purpose though). They are really stylish, i love the white. sound does leak but i don't know anyone who blasts their music in public places. overall they are great headphones for the price and i recommend them for casual music listeners. :)

I purchased these headphones because my son goes to an after school program where many kids used them every day, drop them in the floor, abuse them and do not take any type of care of the headphones AT ALL however after many months they look the same, they sound the same and cosmectly are in great condition too. I figured that these were the ones I needed. Of course these are not for professional work (my husband has the top of the line sony headphones and simply they cannot be compared of course, but he says that they are grat for the price) I mainly bought them to use with the iPad and I also purchased a couple for my nephew and niece and one more for my 10 year old. The kids love them. Cables are thick which I think is the main reason of why they do not brake easily . The children at the after school program always have the cables tangled and not even doing that the cables or wires inside will break or stop working. Excellent purchase and for the price you simply cannot go wrong. The after school program has been using them for 7 months now (they have a total of 20 pairs) and so far not even one has been to be replaced. Mine and the kids are already almost three and they look and feel brand new too.

If you are bothered by noises around you while you are listening to your music, pay more and get a noise cancelling headset. If you want professional sound from your headset, fork out the bucks and get a professional set of headphones. You get what you pay for. Sony produced an outstanding set of headphones for the bucks. I'm NOT saying these are cheap sounding or cheap quality. What I am saying is you WILL get your money's worth and then some with this headphone. I need a set of headphones that I can hear through because of my lifestyle. I also enjoy quality sound from my headphone. I want to hear the triangles, the harp, the flute and piccolo, as well as the bass, kettle drum, and trumpet. With these headphones, I can hear all this as well as keep an awareness of what is going on in my shop or home. If you want to compare quality, do it with a comparatively priced set of headphones.

I was pretty skeptical about $20 headphones, even from Sony. These are great headphones though! I use them almost every day while I'm working and they are really comfortable. The cord doesn't tangle and is long enough for you to put your music player in your pants pocket. The jack fits my iPhone nicely, even with a Magpul case on it. Really the best part of these is the sound quality though. I couldn't believe how good they sound! Even if I don't use any EQ settings on my iPhone these sound amazing. Great range no matter what you listen to. I listen to everything from podcasts to Eminem to All That Remains and it all sounds excellent. Even though I would love a pair of Beats headphones I really can't see paying the premium when I got these for a fraction of the cost and if I leave them somewhere or someone steals them I'm not crushed. Also, get the replacement plan. My total was about $27 out the door and even if I cut through the cord at work I get a free replacement for two years. Can't beat that deal!

So I've been wearing these headphones for a little bit, and they're not bad. I like how the ear cups swivel so you can rest them flat over your chest when you're not listening to music. I had a previous pair from iFrogz that is best described as a padded choker--not very comfortable. Sound quality is meh--you're not getting ~AMAZING~ bass for $20 ($15 until Sunday!) but it's decent enough for most people. Lightweight plastic construction is a concern for me, which is why I paid the extra $5 for the protection plan. Think of it as getting a new pair of headphones for $5 when these (inevitably) break within the next two years. Then again, I've never had a pair of headphones for more than a year. Obviously, no noise cancellation, but there's ample padding around the ear to help with background noise. Also, and THIS IS EASILY MISSED: if you enjoy bobbing your head while listening to music or move around in general--you WILL hear your clothes/limbs/bag straps rub the cable through the ear cups. Whether or not this makes a big difference for you is up to, well, you. Overall, not a bad buy, especially since they're on sale this week. Go into the store, say you saw the price online. They'll match it.

I got these headphones on the recommendation of my friend, and I am not disappointed. I was looking for something over-ear, since I didn't want to be constantly putting earbuds in my ears while blasting music (my roommate can get really loud at times). Now, it's also relevant to note that I am also hard of hearing; with my previous headphones, I wasn't able to hear either the bass or treble very well. These, however, give a powerful boost - I can now enjoy hearing the cello parts in the songs I've enjoyed playing in the past. In fact, I can hear most things clearly - it's just when I crank up the volume a little too much (that's probably not healthy either), the music may distort a tad. Otherwise, I love the sound quality. It may be different for everyone, but I do need to take a break from wearing them after an hour or 2.

I am pretty loyal when it comes to Sony headphones. Most of the pairs I have owned withstand daily use. I own a pair of Studio Monitor Pro for work that still have a few good years left in em. But I never really had headphones for just listening to music, and using with my Ipod or computer. These are actually good. Nice, rich sound quality if you just want to listen to your tunes. I don't quite recommend them for studio work though. I would be afraid that these might blow out quickly. (If you are the type to crank it up to 14) The design was also a cool feature. White! and it's not a cheap, novelty item that sounds like garbage. They are comfortable too. And is compatible with my glasses. Overall, if you are looking for something that looks cool and sounds cool, these cans are it.

    The MDR-Z100 Rock

Just picked up the MDR-ZX100. I needed a pair of head phones for doing lots of skype calls and doing some audio and video editing work. I had a budget of $200 to spend and believe it or not opted for these bad boys for $19 For the price I could not believe the sound quality. Compared to my daughters $130 Sol Republic head phones I had a hard time noticing the difference, same goes for the $300 Beats audio. The main thing I noticed was the Bass frequency was a tad on the low side. But thats just being picky. But to be honest, when it comes to listening to music on any particular device, the pitch is going to vary anyways depending on your sound-card drivers. But from my Mac, to my Iphone and Galaxy SIII the MDR-Z100's just flat out rocked on. I wore these headsphones on a 3 hour skype call and found them to be comfortable. Light weight and very portable, and they look good too, Great for kids if you're looking for a nice pair with a pro sound and price. A great find for the sound and quality. Rock On my friends! enjoy if you pick up these bad boys.

I walk to work and for most places around town so I like to listen to my iPod. I tried serveral earbud style headphones (including one that cost $50) and couldn't find a decent pair. I could either barely even hear them or the sound quality was just so horrible that I'd rather listen to the traffic going by. I really liked my studio headphone (and still do at home), but their large size got kind of awkward. I saw these for $15 and I figure what the heck. I was plesently surprised with how decent they are. They still don't sound very good when compaired to studio headphones, but they are great for the size and especially price. Both high and low ends don't sound that great, but very good for the price. I would recommend chekcing these out if you use them for walking and are sick and tired of earbuds like I was. If you plan to use them at home (size isn't an issue) pay a little more and you can do a lot better.
