Customer Ratings & Reviews

I was looking for a pair of no-nonsense, easy to use headphones that would work with everything without having to install drivers or pair them with anything. I found them with this pair. These Sony ZX headphones have excellent sound in all but the highest volume settings. When I turn the sound on my computer's Soundblaster Audigy sound card all the way up and turn the sound all the way up on my program that I'm using (such as Youtube for example), the bass gets to sounding just a little bit 'muddy' or distorted. But, if I back the sound card's volume control just a little (like back down to 90 from a maximum of 100), then they sound fantastic. I tested them out by listening to classical music like Mozart, Chopin and Williams (John Williams' movie themes) and they reproduced everything as well or better than my computer's Soundblaster brand speakers and just as well as my CD player's speakers. I also tested them out by wearing them while playing video games that use my sound card's ability to create a 3D surround sound effect such as Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas. These headphones sounded very good with those games and the surround sound worked quite well with them thanks to the way that the ear pads conform to the shape of your ears a bit, blocking out most background noise so that you really get the full effect of the surround sound. That's not bad performance from a budget pair of headphones. They are lightweight, but don't feel fragile. I like that you can fold them up quite a bit so that they'll easily fit in a backpack or portable game system carry case like the one I have for my New 3DS XL that has several pouches inside of it. Not quite as small as my earbuds, but will still fit if I don't take all of my game cards. The only thing I really don't like about them and that keeps them from earning five stars, is that the headband isn't padded. I thought it wouldn't matter since they aren't heavy, but after extended use (like watching a two hour movie for example), the headband gets to be rather uncomfortable. So, I wrapped a piece of felt around the headband and taped it in place with Gorrilla Tape (like Duct Tape only better). That has solved the problem. I recommend these headphones for when you want a pair of simple headphones that won't be too big of a shame to lose, get broken or stolen since they didn't cost a fortune, but yet still sound decent. They aren't Bose level of quality, but they aren't Bose priced either.

ACTUAL RATING: 4.1 Stars PROS: -Very cost-efficient -Good balance of deep bass, strong mids, and highs -WAY better than your default headphones that come with your phone -Can collapse to store quite flat -Extremely light -Easily fits bigger head sizes -The headphone jack is long enough for phone cases w/ deeper cutouts CONS: -VERY creaky plastic that takes away from the experience and overpowers the actual music/movie -Materials are quite cheap and will break/wear quickly -Earcup foam vinyl breaking down and flakes off everywhere with daily use -The glossy finish of the outer ear cups are fingerprint and smudge magnets -Bass overpowers a lot of the mids and highs of the music -At full volume, there is some distortion in the bass MY $.02: I was looking for a pair of cheap headphones that can be thrown on and around anywhere I go that also had some good sound to them, and this Sony MDRZX110 hits all those marks, and then some! At less than $20, you really can’t go wrong with these puppies, as they sound fantastic, with good deep/rich bass, clear mids, and highs, and can be cranked up high when you need to drown out the world at whatever your task is at hand. Whenever I have a chance to turn the volume maxed on these headphones, they handled it well! They easily fold up quite flat for easy storage, strong cable, and a good length on the headphone jack for phones w/ thicker cases. I also have a big head and a lot of hair, and the headphones are a comfortable fit for longer wears at a time, usually 2+ hours. However, there are quite a few cons to these as well. My biggest complaint about these headphones is the plastic used and construction makes them VERY VERY creaky. So creaky that they take away from the music or movie that I’m watching 100% of the time, and that blows! The materials used are also pretty cheap, for example, the earcup foams are already quite soft and thin as it is, after a few months of use, they pretty much flattened out. Along with the materials used around the ear cups, the vinyl is already breaking down and flaking off every time I take them on and off. You can also tell these headphones are not meant to be used for more than 5 years in my opinion, as the entirety of the materials of the headphones will not age well. But hey, they’re less than $20, so use’em and love’em, I do! SUMMARY: Great headphones w/ amazing balanced sound, but the materials are cheap AND the creaking from the plastic takes away from the experience of whatever you may be listening to. But they’re less than $20!!! So enjoy them while they’re still intact!

I’ve been using the Sony ZX Series Wired On-Ear headphones for a while now, and they’ve exceeded my expectations. The sound quality is crisp with solid bass and clear mids, especially for the price. They’re lightweight and comfortable to wear for long listening sessions, and the wired connection means no battery worries. Perfect for daily use, commuting, or working at a desk. Simple, reliable, and surprisingly good quality—highly recommend if you want great audio without breaking the bank.

I like these. They do exactly what I need them to. I'm glad that they for my head comfortably! They're lightweight and fold up easily for quick travel.

I am highly satisfied with the Sony headphones. The sound quality, including both bass and treble, is excellent, and the build quality is impressive. They are also very comfortable to wear for extended periods, making them ideal for long listening sessions. In my opinion, within the price range of under $20, they represent the best choice available.

A decent pair of headphones. While the bass doesn't massage your ears, the sound is good. I toss them in my packed backpack every day and they're still in great shape. The wires are strong and are very easy to untangle. I was looking for something I could use while doing work on the laptop and that wouldn't completely block noise around me. These have been reliable. There's no mic which is ok with me for video calls because I use my laptop's mic with a ANC feature. My kid also likes them. They are great for kid's since the ear cups run a bit small.

Awesome sound and fits perfectly. You get more value for the price. For me it's all pros and no cons on this headphones. Sounds like there is noise cancellation on this headphone as well and if you connect it to macbook pro you will really appreciate the sounds it sounds like you are in the movie theater with dolby surround sound.

One of the best deals I've ever found! These Sony headphones were only $10, and they sound surprisingly good and are very comfortable to wear. They’re not noise-cancelling, but I don’t have much background noise where I listen, so it’s not an issue. They’re also not wireless, but I mainly use them at my computer. For the price, this is truly a super deal.

I highly recommend the SONY ZX Series when purchasing new head phones. The sound quality is outstanding. From my airplane flights to the local library, you name it, and these headphones are awesome. The cushioned ear protectors are conducive to listening to music with pleasure and comfort. Grab some for a gift or treat yourself!

This Sony headphones are great, the sound is amazing and they fit comfortable on my ears. They block the noise around you all you hear is great sound with great bass.

Great headphones so far, the ear cushion is nice. I like the easy fold, makes then fit in my bad better. The sound is good. Fits my head well

I was drawn to these because of the comfortable and flexible ear pads, the long cord, and the Sony brand. I have tried numerous other products that are supposedly better… various wireless Bluetooth headphones and earbuds which I found to be very uncomfortable, expensive, and some (even Apple products!) unreliable. Maddening how much you can shell out for headphones that are uncomfortable or don’t work. Not these; these headphones were the answer to my prayers!! I have had these for 1 year and they work as well as the day they did when I took them out of the packaging. They have lasted me from frequent everyday use to workouts at the gym to domestic AND international travel! I love them and highly recommend them! P.S.: Helpful advice. Since this is NOT cordless, you will want to buy yourself an adapter to connect the aux audio connector on this set of headphones to a lightning adapter (for iPhone) or another kind (for other devices). Not expensive and well worth it. Bonus: You won’t need an adapter on planes that have a aux receiver.

Having an intended use-case without major expectations, these are always go-to go-to cans as either placeholders, or to hold one over for a short period of time when main gear is inaccessible, or for extended periods of time towards application that won't be demanding much. When it comes down to owning these, care & fine-tuning have always been key. The only gripe with these, and the multiple previous generations, are the material along the earcups, though it's sort of what gives these cans their character for decades. That said, I only mention it as a means to reference how bad I know the wear of the material CAN be. Though I've stuck to same workaround of having a thin buffer material between the earcups and the skin of my ears. Sometimes a knit hat. Summer times, a sweatband. Other times, a bandana or over the hood of a pullover hoodie. Given that these sit ON the cartilage of the ear, an added benefit of using a buffer material may be to extend the duration of usage for those who are sensitive to that form of fatigue. Personally, I'm not big on making a fuss over the sound production of a set of cans nor earbuds no matter the class/price range, mostly because I'd rather rely on meticulously customized EQ graphings w/ a wide frequency range to enable growth in the capability OF the headphones. In general, drivers & OHM-rating DOES matter depending on how much one seeks to push a pair of headphones, which would derive from the research-effort that the consumer put's in before committing to a purchase. Nevertheless, I've generally been quite pleased with where I could can land any given set of cans via a great DAC and/or well-rounded EQ software. The MDR-ZX line retains the mantle of dependability at clutch value. This line from Sony has been a staple in music production labs and sound stage backrooms for generations. It'd be a disservice in failing to acknowledge the presence, the consistence, the longevity, and the value. I know Sony has come a long way, but these will always be a part of the foundation, having yet to waiver or be abandoned (*clears throat* VITA).

So far so good. Got these to make music. For the money you can’t beat them, I’m using them for sampling and making music off of Gameboys and synthesizers/ drum machines. Pretty good at the price point. I have owned 5 pair of these since I was a teen and they do me right. Very comfortable if you like over the ear

Engaging, Dynamic, Detailed. Albeit difficult to drive at 24Ohms and stubborn brightness in the 500Hz region, paired with a headphone amp and an EQ to tame the harshness, these headphones have a high-end tonal quality with surprisingly satisfying bottom-end bass! Can't go wrong for $20 and no complaints here.

I was not expecting much for the price, but my old pair of basic Sony headphones that looked real similar to these finally gave out so I needed something. My biggest gripe is the cord is WAY too short for my liking - length is half or less of my old Sony pair. Also, the folding earcup/hinge thing looks so fragile/delicate, I bet it will be the first thing to break. But they are comfortable enough, even on my big head, and the sound is decent, so I will make do for as long as they last.

So if your a music lover like me you want to listen to your music with good clear sound from your headphones. I've probably gone through 25 different kinds of headphones in the last couple of years and i have to say that these sony over the ear headphones have been the best ones I've used for only 19.99 so if your looking for good headphones and don't want to spend a fortune these are the ones to get.

Great for the price. We bought 8 of them during the sale. (Fam of 5) and we have 3 spares. So far none have broken and my kids were breaking the kids disney character ones every couple weeks, and those cost twice what these did and sounded half as good. Sony always delivers. Opinion:inexpensive wired sets like this still sound way cleaner then even my 200 dollar bluetooth buds in my opinion. Theres something lost in the wireless transmission and compression that these wired sonys dont lose.

My daughter adores her headphones! She loves reading audiobooks, and these headphones are perfect. They rotate and fit her ears beautifully, and I don’t know what we would’ve done without these wonderful headphones.

Family friendly. Can use for ages 10 and up. Im and adult and I don't need to pull the adjustment out. Kids use them in my car so I don't have to hear their video games on their Amazon fore tablet. This is my second purchase I bought white ones a year ago for the laptops and since they held up I got these for the car.
