    Best inexpensive headphones

I have had these headphones for 3 months now and I always grab these over my $100 pair. Yes they are a little flimsy, but what can you expect for a $20 product? I will tell you. First, I was drawn to the style and color. My options were black or white. I chose white because I usually listen to music while my wife tries to sleep and they are easy to find without a light. I would have enjoyed more color options but they do not make them. The style is surprisingly comfortable with the soft padding over the ears. The great thing is they do conform to your ear and block out the outside noise while also letting very little noise out when the volume on your phone is maxed out. To me the speakers are as clear in comparison to top brands like Bose. The next best thing is the portability. They are pretty light weight so I sometimes don't even realize they are on my head. They do fold flat so suitcase or backpack travel is simple. While the ear pieces do fold flat to the headband, they do feel a bit on the breakable side. However these are the most portable headphones I have used. They are made of plastic with I think a vinyl ear cushion so cleaning with a damp (NOT SOAKING) rag will wipe away any dirt. I didn't give this product 5 stars because they are a bit on the flimsy side and would like a variety of color to choose from but feel 4-4.5 stars is justifiable with the sound, portability, style, comfort, and ease of clean all being there. Overall I wouldn't change my purchase and would honestly pay a little more knowing both the sound and comfort is there.

These headphones do precisely what a set of studio headphones should. I had these headphones on while playing a game, and when I took them off I realized a major rainstorm was happening. This is amazing sound dampening, for such a cheap set of headphones. These are "the" headphones for if you need some music while you study, if you're on a budget. These headphones aren't sound canceling, you will hear background noise if you're looking for it, but the moment you're focused on your audio you'll swear these headphones are worth twice the price. ros: -Good sound dampening. When you need to block out the background sounds of dorm life or the city while you're doing your own thing, these headphones do a wonderful job with general noise. I doubt they're good enough for a plane, but for a dorm or most bus rides you should be very isolated. -Good sound, with good bass. Things with a lot of high-end treble (audiobooks, low-quality mp3) don't sound too tinny or washed out. Things with lots of bass (movies, dance music) have good punch. The overall range is quite good and quite balanced, with a nod toward the heavy/dynamic range

good sound but headband is not comfortable

I bought this after reading many of the rave reviews here, and after seeing the extremely- discounted price. One review that I read here even stated that the headphones were padded and very comfortable. (The head part is actually NOT padded, not sure why someone wrote that in their review- only the ear part is padded). I needed this for an airplane trip. The sound quality is good and the actual headphone part (the ear pieces) are pretty comfortable however the plastic headband is very uncomfortable. It presses down onto the top of my head, and hurts. For reference, I have a small head. I did not see anyone else write the headband was pressing into their head. I am not sure how I am the only person who is writing about this. I like that these fold up flat and that was pretty convenient as I was able to just put them in a book bag until I needed them again. They are not noise-canceling, so I was able to hear the plane engine but when I borrowed someone else's noise canceling headphones for a minute, I heard the engine through theirs too, just not as loud as with these Sony headphones. For the price, I will probably keep these. I may try to figure out someway to add padding to the headband so they are more comfortable.

I really like it cause it was very cheap 10.99 The sound was really good enough for basic music, not hardcore music listener. The bass is okay, its not very booming but you can hear the kick thump. You can also fold the headphones which is a good idea for small room storage. Add this part, the sound is very okay when I compare to skullcandy hesh 2, it couldn't be better. Pros is Very lightweight Easy to fold no break hinges Is loud enough Low price Cons Comfort is very bad and inside the earcups is not made of real soft cloth, listening to them hours your eardrum will hurt/Yes I put the volume lower, the Pillow are very thin that the longer you wear them you ear become red. The sound isn't as great but good enough for people who not looking for High Res. The max volume is okay not loud enough and its very tinny sound. The headphones can fall off your head which is annoying, I wouldn't recommend this to a kid for sound and comfort. The headband has no soft pillow, which hurts on top an even your neck. Overall sound is good and can fold flat easy to carry around on a trip.

I had a pair of earbuds I used at work for the past year I picked up one day while I was in an office supply store. Never really liked using them at all and the audio was lacking severely (no bass). I had a Best Buy Gift Card and some certificates to use through the Rewards Program so started looking online for headphones. Saw this pair listed at $12.99 read some reviews which rated the product at about 4 stars. Figured had nothing to lose so added them to my cart while checking out the price dropped to $9.99 so couldn't use my rewards certificate. I picked them up during lunch and overall am blown away at this price point. Build quality is a little flimsy (the folding earphones are nice but a little loose and the slides that adjust the earpieces are also a little too loose for my preference) ... however the cable feels well made and thicker than average, the plug is on a right angle which is a nice touch and the earpiece foam is extremely comfortable. Most importantly - the sound has far exceeded my expectations. The bass is rich enough and the overall range is impressive. Considering I paid slightly more for the earbuds these are replacing would definitely recommend these at this price point. Amazing value. Going to order a second set for use around the home office.

My daughter needed a pair of headphones/earbuds for 1st grade. I opted for these as they seemed better made and wanted a pair that would last. Earbuds get to be a knotted mess. I’m in the elementary school a lot so I know first hand how hard the kids can be on headphones. This particular pair have a thicker cord than most which I wanted because I’ve seen kids break headphones. The wire is so thin and they carry them by the cord, swing them, wrap them around their finger, chew on them, etc. The folding ear pieces weren’t a problem for her. I did buy a hard case for her to keep them in in her desk. The only issue we had was that the cord is so thick, that the end of the plug has a thicker coating, that sometimes she didn’t push it all the way into the chrome book. It was because of how close the port was to the edge of the computer, not the headphones. I am happy to report that they lasted and have currently made it through 1/2 of second grade. Beyond lasting, they really have good sound and are comfortable on the ears. I only wish they had a volume control on the cord. I’m glad I found a pair that has lasted.

WOW - Picked these up today after wearing the ZX100 for the last 3 years and wearing through the lining on the padding. Sounds is incredible, rich bass, not 'deep' as Bose/Beats might sell you, just a solid, full, well balanced sound, much better than I expected from a $20 pair of phones. Looking at the cost difference between the '100's and these, the $5 is laughable. Feel is fantastic, quality materials, folding pads is awesome and a thick cable with the right angle connector makes life easy. Tug to hard one way? Pressure gets pushed into the wire connection, not the actual plug which (one of my favorite, and most often utilized features of the 100s) so they won't snap on you. Cost, well, if you can't shell out $20 for a decent pair of headphones it might be worth spending that money elsewhere. Very happy, terrific product and price point. Blown away!

I got these headphones as part of the Best Buy Early Access Black Friday sale for $9.99 and I'm 100% satisfied with the purchase. The headphones do feel a little flimsy and cheap, but what do you expect for such an affordable product! If you are looking for something durable like Bose headphones or Beats, this is not the product for you. The cushioning on the earphones feel nice and is comfortable. The sound quality is also much better than I was expecting, and in my opinion, the white color looks very sleek. Even for the regular price of $19.99, I would still recommend these headphones if you are looking for a cheap on-ear alternative to the expensive brands.

I went in to get a pair of headphones and had seen these on sale online for 11.99 and they do price matching! Id seen all these great reviews and i really needed a pair of cheaper headphones just to hear music while tracking drums and they needed to be long enough to make it to my.computer. The last sony i had at this price point was a pair of studio headphones and they were one of my favorite pair ever, so i took a bite. Got home, tore open the packaging, and immediately tested them out. INSTANTLY, the sound was way worse than i could have anticipated. The audio quality was poor, the dB was weak, every move i made caused crackling due to poor jack quality in the connector molding (plugged into a brand new iMac thats been successful with other pairs and no issues). On top of that, the general construction is really poor, which is to be expected to some degree, but this is just bad. The plastic is really flimsy, foam padding is almost nonexistent, the inner driver covers and cloth feel like theyre made of cardboard and tissues, and the headphone adjustment sliders too easily move around. For now, ill have to stick with my apple earpods until i can find a pair of headphones worth the drive or even a mouse click. Atleast i can hear sound with the earpods that isnt the equivalent to listening to rats in a trash can.

I wanted to acquire a new set of stereo headphones for use with my computer at my workplace. I wanted decent audio quality at a low price, which wouldn't put me out much money if the headphones got damaged or stolen from my desk. Also, I wanted headphones that didn't have the "open cell" foam ear cups that my older headphones did -- from my experience these “open” foam type cups deteriorate and crumble over time. These new Sony headphones have a "skinned foam" ear cup design that should prevent the deterioration. Overall, these headphones provide everything I was looking for, and at a $9.99 sale price, they represent an excellent value. The audio quality is very good, certainly good enough for my purposes. The "fold flat" design makes them easier to store than those they are replacing. Since I just purchased this product, I cannot comment on its long-term reliability, but my usage will be occasional and mostly gentle, so I think it will be fine for many years. My only criticism with the product is the smooth "piano black" surface on the outside of the headphones; this surface treatment will tend to show smudges and scratches more readily than a grained surface. Also, the packaging was a needlessly complex puzzle of clear plastic and boxboard, but fortunately I only had to deal with that one time.

Presentation/Availability: Product was well packaged with no broken/opened box. There weren’t many available at the store (maybe 1 remained). Performance: It does exactly what I needed from this device. They can bend for taking less space when storing which I like it a lot. Being Sony®, the sound quality is as expected, VERY GOOD!! I have used it on the laptop, tablet and iPhone to listen to music and streaming TV shows. The earpiece (over the ear) is comfortable for using it on long periods (longest I have used them is 3 hours without feeling uncomfortable). Have no problem with them so far. Will definitely recommend this if you are looking for good sound quality headphones under $20 (still can believe the price was $19.99, I checked it twice with the employee). Customer service: EXCELLENT customer service. I was greeted by an employee as soon as I walked through the door. Then other employee asked what I needed. He had strong knowledge of what I was looking for and helped me to get to the right area for getting my product, which I did quickly and he gave me recommendations which is something that you don’t find everywhere. THANK YOU!!!!

I mainly purchased these for my kids to use for studies/ lectures and they tell me that keeping them for long time (over 2 hours) does not cause any headaches and sound comes through very clear. I also tried them myself and they feel nice. Voice does comes through clearly. They are soft/comfortable, but does feel like they are for smaller heads :). Tried listening some good tunes and was not impressed by the sound but not disappointed because i knew that for $20 you wont really get headphones to really enjoy crisp and clear audio with deep bass (I have old Sennheiser CX200 plugs and they sound deeper and crispier than these sony). But, what i really like about these sony phones is that they are very comfortable and for kids they are simply perfect. I got two pairs and my kids are happy :) Recommending for vocal/voice/lectures/audio studies. Not recommending if you are looking for good audio sound.

I love these things, especially for the price. I picked these up for $14.99. I was a little sceptical for the price being so low. But, they were Sony, a brand I'm usually happy with, so... why not. Glad I bought them! Well, two, actually... got a black pair for the black gaming system and a white pair for the white gaming system in the house. They work great with the 3.5mm jacks on the bottom of the XBOX ONE controllers. Now I can play games and watch movies while the family's sleeping. :) They look great! Very comfortable on my head. Not too big, not too small, and they have a pretty long cord, as well. And, above all else... they sound great, too! Very crisp sound, and a very even bass output. I've had a lot of headphones that where far too heavy on the bass and gave me a headache after extended periods of use, but not these. I hope to find some more at this price, as I would definitely like a few back-ups... highly recommended!

My son got these as a quick fill in after breaking a more expensive pair. We didn't do a lot of research so we were shopping off the cuff when we ran across these. They are one of the few wired, over the ear headphones in our Best Buy that don't cost a small fortune. They had a pair of white ones with the same part number that were $5 more, but he opted for the cheaper black pair (would've even at the same price). When he got out of the store he put them on and tried them with his phone and he was actually impressed. He wasn't expecting excellent quality, but he got better than expected. These don't have the bass amplifier (which he hates headphones that do) or really any other specialized features, but the sound is clear and stable. He says they're pretty comfortable and he wears them for hours on end while using the computer. Not as comfortable as the Razor pair he broke, but not uncomfortable by any means. For the price, they're 5 stars, but for the sound quality and the comfort he gives them 4 stars. He's very happy with his purchase.

Earpiece fell apart. Sony refused warranty claim

Nice appearance and price. Headphones come with a 90 day warranty. During this time, one of the earpieces fell off the headband. It is only secured by a small metal pin which fell out. The warranty card states that claims can go to an office in Laredo, TX, but my package was returned as undeliverable. I then called Sony. After two calls, they refused to replace the headphones. They only offered to sell me a new pair for nearly the same price offered by Best Buy. The warranty states that Sony will cover "defects in material or workmanship during ordinary consumer use". My use was ordinary! SHAME ON YOU SONY. I will not buy anything else from you.

Being somewhat of an audiophile on a budget, I've been a life long fan of Sony's MDR-V6, going through 4 pairs so far. Over-the-ear with a crystal clear 5-30Mhz frequency response for about $100 or less. Unfortunately, I've had bad luck getting counterfeits online, so I had switched things up and spoiled myself with a $300 pair of Bang Olufsen wireless Bluetooth from the Apple store, only to have them fall apart in less than a year. Luckily, on my last trip to Best Buy, these [unmistakable] headphones with their unique bright white color scheme caught my eye. Everybody knows about Sony for good reason and I was shocked to see that they were offering good-old-fashioned corded headphones with a 12-22khz signal range for less than $20 with tax!!! Trust me, the extended frequency is apparent when next to my other headphones that perform around 20-20khz, despite costing at least twice as much...

While I own the Sony Classic MDR-V6 and MDR-V900 Studio headphones, I was looking for an inexpensive lightweight "closed ear" set of phones with the best sound vs. price. After some searching I was surprised at finding the MDR ZX110. While not a studio monitor headphone, for the money ($15 to $25 - varies on seller and current retail or sale price), plus "next day" free shipping from BEST BUY, I had to try them. Not a typical studio headphone as the cord is not that long and wiring is not over head but coming from each earpiece going to a zipped cord and 3.5mm stereo plug, it is not meant to be a studio headphone.but simply a very high quality headphone for personal use (smartphone, mp3 player, any 3.5mm jack, etc). They sound GREAT and the ear pieces fold flat for carrying. I love 'em!

I primarily purchased these to use with my Nintendo 3DS XL and Switch. These are great for the intended use I had in mind. The sound quality is good for an inexpensive Sony headset. I like that they fold flat for easy storage and that the plug is L shaped and not straight. WIth the Nintendo Switch straight plugs are not an issue as the audio port is on the top, but the 3DS or other devices with the port on the bottom this can cause issues when held close to the body and it can be easy to bump the plug and damage it. Over all I would recommend these to anyone seeking a decent headset at a good price point. They are not flashy but they work.

    Flimsy but reliable

I purchased this product because I needed a cheap set of over the headphones on the quick to do some audio editing, and for $20, the price is right. The sound quality is excellent for what I do, at least when the bass boost feature is turned on, and they fit comfortably over my head. Some issues: They are somewhat flimsy, partially owing to the fact that they are supposed to fold up, but the battery door on the right ear piece sits on there very loosely, and will fall off for no reason. That the boost feature is practically required for adequate sound quality is another hangup, because that feature requires the battery, which can be used up pretty quickly (especially if you accidentally leave them on, as I often do). Overall, a good product for people who want nice, studio-quality headphones, but don't have that kind of dang money lying around.
