I actually rented this movie from Netflix before recently purchasing the Blu-ray-DVD combo from Best Buy. Never heard or knew anything about the movie before adding it to my queue. However after watching it I thought it was one of the better rentals I watched. Parents may want to use some viewing discretion with younger kids because of some of the graphic scenes involving the shark attack. Even though the shark attack might be a little scary subject matter for young kids it is still a great family movie overall since the movie is very inspiring for anyone trying to over come difficult challenges in their lives. I have not seen the blu-ray version yet, but imagine it should exceed the DVD in video and audio quality. However the DVD copy I saw looked and sounded great on my home theater system. There is also a modest set of extras included. If you get a chance pick this one up, or rent a copy.

An incredible real life story about a young girl who has strength, courage and beautiful faith in God. She continues to be an inspiration to millions of people around the world.

Excellent true story...some of the actors could have been better cast, but when you know this story of Bethany Hamilton is true, and how her faith in God not only helped her survive but caused her to be triumphant and fiiled with joy, it is truly inspirational.

The acting in this movie is great. Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid did a great job in acting this story. They were believeable that Anna Sophia Robb was their daughter with concern and love. Great inspirational story with a great and loving family.

I bought this movie because my son has decided he wants to surf and I worry about the dangers that come along with it. This movie shows those dangers, but also shows how to keep following your dreams and not give up in the wake of tragedy.
