I don't play Soul Calibur. My fiancee doesn't either. But, in the previous game she was very skilled and enjoyed making detailed renditions of characters from various games and movies. We got this game so she could make characters again, and send them to her friend to use. (The only guy we know who likes fighting games.) The amount of time she spends making characters alone was worth the price of this game. I've attached some of her roster.

Soul Caliber has always been one of my favorite fighting game series. I have been looking forward to the newest version to this epic weapons fighter. This game is what you would expect from a Soul Calibur game on the current generation hardware. Obligatory better graphics and returning favorite characters make this a triumphant return to form for this epic weapons fighter. The only complaint I would have about this game is that it really doesn't do much in the way of pushing the series forward. It's just a slightly prettier version of a game you have played before. Maybe that isn't necessarily a bad thing though as previous fans will know exactly what they are getting here. More Soul Calibur goodness. If you are a fan of this storied franchise than rest assured this game is made for you. Recommended for any fighting game fan.

SoulCalibur has always been a great fighting game that's fun for casual and competitive play. It's pretty much the only 3D weapon fighting game that's still in existence. If you played any of the games in the franchise, you know what you'll expect in terms of gameplay.
The newest gameplay mechanic introduced is the reversal edge system. It basically works like a guard impact (effective against throws and low attacks even), but the character immediately follows up with an attack afterwards that launch a rock-paper-scissors mini game. Vertical beats horizontal, horizontal beats kick, and kick beats vertical. The problem is that this mechanic slows the game down to a guessing game. It's a good way to build meter for critical edges and soul charges though.
Critical edges are basically like super with an easy input. Soul charges are powered states that give attacks special attributes depending on the character, it also open up a new moves that can be used. They're okay though I prefer no meter for my 3D fighting games.
Single player content wise, the game is beefy at least with Libra of Souls and Soul Chronicles. The first is similar to weapons master mode in past SoulCalibur game(with more of a RPG twist where you can weapons and level up) where you create a character and fight in various battles with varying conditions. It's very text heavy so expect to do a lot of reading. The mode starts off easy, but cheap A.I. becomes prevalent at higher level where they read your input. The story isn't anything to write home about though it does flesh out more of the lore.
Soul Chronicles is your traditional story mode for each character that features static character portraits and voiced lines between bouts. It's not bad for what it is I guess.
There's an Arcade mode though you just fight through seven or eight characters. All the story content are pushed into Soul Chronicles.
There's also always the Create A Soul mode where you can create your own character with fighting styles used by existing characters in the game.
Online is what you expect with casual matches and ranked matches. The latter can take awhile with matchmaking some times.
The game overall has a budgeted feel. Graphics are okay, but could be better compared to past games and other fighting games currently out. There isn't even a intro video. I'm not a fan of how Tira was cut off and sold as DLC even though she's in the main game already.
Overall, SCVI is worth it if you're into fighting games and it's not a bad choice for fans of the franchise or newcomers. It's a simple game to get into, but has good depth if you want to play on a more hardcore, competitive level.

SoulCalibur VI is quite impressive. It is a return to form for the franchise since it stumbled off course in SoulCalibur V. The graphics, the characters and settings are not all that bad. In the main story mode, it is basically the retelling of SoulCalibur I, but more in depth of every character. In Libra of Soul, you can create your own character and he/she will be in the story with most of the game's cast of warriors. Most of the game's features are pretty neat, and that's why I think this is the best SoulCalibur game by far.

Soul Calibur is a great entry to fighting genre, it started back in the arcade with Soul Edge and then it moved to playstation but it really started to shine on the Sega Dreamcast with Soul Calibur.
Each entry afterwards has managed to mantained its great gameplay style while introducing new characters and even via cross over with other series.
The best mode is the fighter creator which allows you to create infinite amounts of characters for the game. Highly recommended.

If you've played one Soul Caliber game, you get the general gist, BUUUUUUUT this game adds on to the gameplay in many new and innovative ways. Not only are the graphics buffed, but the addition of cool, cinematic finishing/ultimate moves is a nice touch that does NOT break the game. The character creator is even further polished from previous entries. However, I wish the story mode was longer, and it would have been nice if characters from previous game were not removed.

The game looks clean and plays well. Characters seem to blitz around when moving which makes the gameplay feel fast and fluid without taking the strategy out of the fight. Controls are responsive, but would recommend a stick for faster input recognition. Simple enough for my kids to enjoy but with a learning curve that challenges fighting game fans with a balanced experience. Well put together; and, hopeful that it will see DLC beyond the initial pass.

Graphically, quite a looker. The create-a-character is incredibly robust, with a long single player mode to use them, as well as all of the usually online and local multiplayer. Most classic characters return, guest characters are appropriate and fit in both dress and fighting style. If this is the last Soul Calibur, it's a full package.

Positives: Amazing story, great characters, game is very long and there's a plethora of side quests and activities to do. Also one of the most immersive games I've ever played with tons of small details.
Negatives: Mission variety could have been more varied towards the end of the game. The game is also not very respectful of your time with how long it takes to get from point A to B which is how a lot off missions are set up.

If you've played a SoulCalibur game, you're familiar with what you're getting... and there's no change to that with this entry. We now have Geralt (who fits well in this series) as the guest and a very versatile character creator. There's plenty to do for a single player, but full online capabilities for some competitive matches. A solid entry.

Unlike the last Soul Calibur title, this one has had a ton of balances and fixes to make it worth the money. It's a shame a lot of people didn't give it a chance considering it's a great game with a lot of fun content. Create a character has also been pretty funny since a lot of people do amazing things with what they are given.

I love Soulcalibur! VI is definitely a great improvement or it’s predecessor, especially with the inclusion of being able to create your own fighters. Along with the inclusion of Geralt of Rivia (from the Witcher series), this game couldn’t be better.

This is soulcalibur as you know and love it. Fantastic character creation system and a fun and engaging online leaves you with so much to do in this game. The single player is fleshed out and is basically a mini rpg within a fighting game. Highly recommended for fighting game fans!

Soul calibur games have always had intense combat with the best character creator. The combat is a lot more advanced with the addition of a lot of new mechanics and the creator is the best its ever been. The creations seem endless and I love seeing what the community can make

I'm a fan of the series and was so hyped that we were getting a new Soulcalibur game. The game is beautiful and a lot of fun to play. You will spend a lot of time creating your own custom characters. It's definitely one of my favorite fighting games.

I've been playing this franchise for over 20 years since the first one. So, first off just let me say this is probably one of, if not the best entries in the series. If you're a fighting game enthusiast then this is a great game for you. There is so much content besides just the online which is amazing for this genre. There are basically two story modes which one has a story for each character, arcade mode, and practice mode.I would give it a 5 but I think there a just a few things that need to be tweaked to make it better. Character creation is great but don't think it should be in ranked matches, perhaps a separate mode for that. There are some characters that have exploitable gimmicks that make online matches unfair some times. If you're a parent be careful about your kids playing online because some of the character creations get a little ridiculous to put it nicely. Other than those few things, great game, I would highly recommend.

This game just adds more to its franchise. The crossover and the character creations are better than ever before. Gameplay is fun and gives you that rush. Story is ok but you're here for the fighting. It's worth the pick up if you want your OC's to come to life.

I have loved this franchise since it was in the arcades and then when it came to the PS2. I highly recommend this game for anyone who loves fighting games. Great graphics, cool characters, and a lot of fun.
