This is a fascinating look behind the scenes of the creation of music in the recording studio. The narrative is constructed from archival footage and interviews mixed with current footage shot for the documentary. The people featured aren't necessarily who you'd expect much of the time which leads to an exciting viewing experience filled with surprises. This is an important documentary that should be watched by all music fans, obsessive and casual alike.

Series is the creation of Sir George Martin who produced the Beatles. Traces the history of modern recorded music beginning with Les Paul & Mary Ford all the way to various Rap and Hip Hop artists and everything in between. Detailing the ground breaking work on Beatles "Revolver" album and those after. A superb history. The video is remarkable given the age of some of the material. DTS surround sound is exceptional.

A great insight into the un-credited studio musicians who made the music. This eye opening documentary features many great stories behind the hit songs we listened to on the radio. It is must have for any record collector.

From beginning to end i was excited to see this the music is great the interviews were great was bummed when it was over I'll never get sick of watching it over and over

I have seen some of the shows on PBS before. But having a final chance to see all of them together made it all worth it. I love the video very much.

I've watched a couple of episodes on pbs and online and look forward to watch the whole thing. Seems to have interesting stories with my favorite band,The Who and Eric clapton and especially about the Beatles and George Martin Seems like good extras also...
