There are plenty of Bluetooth speakers out there, and for the most part, there are greatly indistinguishable. The Flare 2 has a few unique features which set it apart. It’s definitely flashy. Both the top and bottom rings can pulse with your music for a mini light show. There are several switchable variations including off. It’s waterproof making it good for outdoor and pool use. And, up to 100 of these guys can be synced to play in unison.
Soundcore is a division of Anker which is best known for its quality chargers and power banks. This speaker follows that standard with a good, solid build quality. The sound is not that of the big-name products that cost five to ten times as much, but it’s pretty decent and can play at a high volume with minimal distortion. It pairs easily, and there’s a bass boost mode which most will probably leave turned on. There are buttons on the top for power, volume, light control, and “multi-function” (play/pause, track advance, and phone answer/end). The side has the bass boost and Bluetooth control. Under a watertight flap, you’ll find the USB C charger port. A cable is supplied, but you need to provide your power source … maybe an Anker charger?
Soundcore has an app that you don’t need for everyday use. It offers is equalization, light mode control, and firmware updates. Depending on the sound features your mobile device offers, it may or may not be something you wish to keep on your phone.
This speaker exceeded my expectations. At the regular price, it’s a good deal, but on sale, it’s a super bargain. It performs well above its price, and your kids will love the lights. Maybe you as well.

What a Fun Speaker!

I just got my Soundform Flare 2 Bluetooth speaker and I love it! What a cool little speaker. Where to start….how about the design and look. The vibrant LED rings at the top and bottom of the device are gorgeous. You can have several different light patterns to fit your mood; I have mine set to solid blue that’s slowly pulsing at the moment. There are some cool looking options to have it flash along with your music as well. It feels well built. I know Anker has a solid reputation for quality though this is my first Anker product.
Now to the meat of the review, how does it sound? Pretty dang good I must say. Now it’s a single small speaker, it can’t compete with my main sound system. But for a single, small speaker it’s fantastic in my opinion. Put it in the middle of a room and it really does a good job of filling that room with music. It’s immersive 360 degree sound is impressive. Bass response is really solid too for such a little thing. I’ve had a few wireless speakers in my day and this one is the best sounding.
It also seems to be decent on battery life. It claims to have a 12 hours charge and that feels about right. Living next to a river as I do, I love that it’s water proof. Once the weather warms back up it will be down there testing that capacity to the max. I like the feature of being able to link multiple speakers together. Though I only have 1 I may get another one or two at some point in the future.
All in all this is a great device. Well built, looks cool and most importantly it sounds great. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

Better than Original Flare

Since I already own the original Soundcore Flare Portable Bluetooth Speaker, I was really interested in getting this one to do a comparison.
Right out of the box I plugged the speaker in to begin charging. You’re going to want to install the Soundcore App on your mobile device, and pair the Flare 2. With the app, you are able to adjust the volume, turn off the speaker, and customize the light effects and light modes. My favorite light effects are ‘Phasing Beats’ and ‘Bouncing Beats.’ With the EQ control, you can choose which light mode you want, and add extra bass. There are also convenient controls on the top of the speaker itself.
Several features of this Anker Soundcore Flare 2 Portable Bluetooth Speaker worth showcasing are:
360 degree directional sound, which you can definitely hear
Waterproof - great for use around the pool, by the tub or in the shower
Light ring on the bottom and top of the speaker this time
The “textile material” covering the speaker looks expensive and feels nice to the touch
Supposedly you can connect up to 100 of these Flare 2 Bluetooth speakers together, if that is something you’d want to do, and can afford it.
Is there a noticeable difference when comparing the original Soundcore Flare to this Flare 2 version? Yes. And the price for this newer model is right, too.

Big Sound, Small Size

This is a great sounding bluetooth speaker in a rather small size.
The 360 sound is a nice feature to have, if you have it outside you can hear from from all sides. There is a good bass sound, too, sort of amazing for such a small speaker. The other feature most important to me is water protection. This can be submerged in water and be fine. The perfect outdoor speaker for the pool.
The lights are nice, but at night can be a little distracting, but they can be customized to be more relaxing. There is also an EQ for changing sound settings, but I’ve found the default settings to be fine for my needs.
It charges over USB-C, which is nice as I have most of my other devices with USB-C connectors. And, it charges rather fast, around 3-4 hours for a full charge. I’m managing to get around 12 hours out of a charge. I only have one of these, but you can pair multiples to sync lighting and sound. This seems like a cool feature, and these are affordable enough that I will probably get another and try that out.

Neat little speaker for small spaces

The Soundcore Flare 2 is a portable Bluetooth speaker that is pretty small but packs a decent amount of sound. It has a nice design that does not take up a lot of space and can blend in just about anywhere. There are some lights on the top and bottom rings that have multicolor pulses. I am not too big on the colors or the lights, but they are there if you want them and they are easy to turn off. I am impressed with the overall 360-degree sound, build quality and battery life. I was averaging around 12 hours of use with the lights on. I think this speaker is perfect for a small space such as an office or bedroom, but outdoor use, in my opinion, is not a strong suite, however, it does have the ability to link up with other speakers of the same for over 100+, so that would make up for the lack of sound I would think. I was not able to try this feature since I only have one. Another nice feature of this is you can charge it with a normal USB Type C cable, which makes it nice that you do not have to carry around a proprietary charger for it. Overall, this is a neat little speaker and provides sound that will be more than adequate for small spaces and I use it in my office at work and it has been perfect.

Good Sound for the Price Range - with Lights!

The Soundcore - Flare 2 Portable Bluetooth Speaker is a solid product for an attractive price.
Easy to pair, comfortable to hold, with a solid feel. It produces good sound with strong bass (when 'bass boost' is selected). It can easily fill a large room as well.
The lights are a definite addition for festive gatherings and general mood-setting. They can be programmed according to multiple options.
As with most bluetooth speakers in this price range, the sound tends to become less distinct and slightly distorted at high volume. These are not made for hi-fidelity listening, but offer decent every-day sound at a good price - with the nice addition of lights.

So many good things with this little speaker!!!
1) Sound is amazing! I listen to music with the base and podcasts, phone calls, and books without the base.
2) The lights are cool!!! They are adjustable soft lights that are not blinding but make a nice "nightlight". Or, as I use it at night...lights off.
3) This speaker has some weight to it so my cat cannot knock it off the table or nightstand like he does with everything else, yet not heavy.
4) It paired so easily and the app works great. My daughter gets a kick out of turning it on and off when she is not home.
I had to buy one for a friend after she tried to steal mine. Nice reasonably priced gift!!

This speaker isn’t large in size but packs quite a punch. The bass boost is an awesome feature that enhances the sound experience. The sound is best described as clean - there’s no interference, no static, the words are sharp and clear and the sound is just overall clean. I genuinely love this speaker more than my Bose, and I thought nothing would ever top that. The lights synced with the music are a neat feature but not a selling point for me. Battery life is excellent! I was super impressed with the longevity. Durable, long life, excellent sound, charges quickly, you really can’t find a better deal out there for a speaker this size. You’ll love it!

The Soundcore Flare 2 portable Bluetooth speaker is an excellent Bluetooth speaker. I’ve used several Bluetooth speakers in recent years, and they’ve all been perfectly good devices.
Setup is very simple. The manual recommends charging the device before using it, so I charged it for about a half-hour first. Then turn it on, power up your audio source, put it in pairing mode, and press the Bluetooth button on the speaker. Pairing happens almost immediately, and I’m listening to music. I paired this with both my smartphone and my home satellite radio receiver, and both worked fine.
The setup guide recommends that you download the app as that allows control over the color patterns the device displays as the sound is heard. This works for any audio that is played through the phone. If you’re using another audio source, like I did with my satellite radio, the app does nothing because the phone is no longer paired with the device. To change the lighting effects in a situation like this, you press the “light effects” button on the top of the device.
On the device itself on the top are the power button, the above-mentioned “light effects” button, up-and-down volume controls, and a “multi-function” button whose action depends on the context. In audio mode, it controls the music play (advance to the next song, repeat current song, etc.). In phone-answering mode, it answers, rejects, or ends calls or activates Siri or another voice assistant. On the side of the device are the USB-C charging port (underneath a flat rubber cover), a bass-boost button, and the Bluetooth pairing button. Included in the box is a USB-C charging cable but no AC adapter, which is pretty common these days in my experience.
In use, the sound is excellent with good bass even without the bass boost activated. The light display is nice, but it’s more useful when the device is used in “playcast” mode, where you connect several Flare 2's to the same source and place them around the room for a party. In a situation like this one could each device set to a different light pattern and have a very attractive effect.
Overall, if you need a Bluetooth speaker, you can’t go wrong with the Soundcore Flare 2.

Perfect Bluetooth speaker

This speaker works well with my phone, iPad, tv and laptop through Bluetooth so it's very convenient and versatile. It's pretty neat with lightshow, we decided to have a fun night with music to get us in celebration mood though it'll be so different than ever before. We all had fun together, even though it's just us from our household. It made our night. You have the option to turn off the light show if you choose though. Love the 360 sound so around. It was quick and easy to connect. The battery is pretty good too, needed charging after using a few days but it charged pretty quickly.
The 1 downfall is it did have a jack so you can't connect without Bluetooth and there was a little delay while watching Netflix. Noone ender complained but I noticed it. But the volume and sound is great!

Small, but can fill a party with sound

Great sound in a small speaker, the lights are nice, and partycast is fantastic.
On its own, this is a good speaker. Solid build, good sound for the size, long battery life, pretty lights. USB-C for charging, nice to be in the modern world. The cloth cover feels great, and the 360 sound is as advertised, not really directional at all so it can fill a room.
But it really shines in groups. I have three, and can get good sound filling both the front room and a reasonably sized living room, or to get sound evenly distributed to the whole front yard at once without drowning out any given area.
Overall, a really nice speaker design that I am greatly enjoying.

I've owned a few Soundcore speakers over the years and have been impressed with most of them. This one was no exception. Pairring this with my phone was a breeze and the default sound had a pleasant balance of bass and treble. Most of the controls for the speaker can be found on top of the device, while logging into their app provides extra levels of customization including additional color pulse choices, setting your own EQ levels, and firmware updates for the device. The ability to pair multiple Soundcore speakers together to provide additional listening space is a nice touch, but unless you've bought into their ecosystem or have friends with similar speakers, you aren't likely to use this feature much.
I had to take off one star for a bug in the current firmware where multi-color light settings will look good while the sound is off and then go crazy (not in a good way) when the music starts. This will hopefully be fixed in later firmware revisions as someone probably tied the cycle commands to the wrong EQ channel. Also, this speaker will likely not work well if you want to use it as a computer speaker. The few Bluetooth transmitters I tried produced noticeable audio lag when pair with the speaker. I had zero issues when paired with a phone though, so this is more of a OS/transmitter issue than a speaker issue, but I'm putting it out there for info.
