Chilling reminder of Gregory's tremendous talent. If this , GA's last studio recorded work doesn't haunt you, you have no Soul. Personally, I love it, but then, I love everything Gregory does. If he's not my number 1 favorite, he's in the top 2 . I hear GA's first solo studio recording , Laid Back (yay!) will be reissued, and I surely will buy yet another as I have worn the grooves on my lps and fear what Ill do to the cds sooner or later . I hope Best Buy carries this new release when it comes out, I am an old girl, I prefer to shop at brick and mortar stores, even my Peach fixes, when I cant get to Macon to buy direct from the Big House (Allman Brothers Museum ) TY Best Buy! Pix of young DA & GA with Mama A , single Mom, as her husband, an Army officer, was killed by a thug during a robbery , while the boys were very young. She was forced to put them in military school to while she went back to school for a degree, so she could better raise her boys on her own, even harder back in those days.

Gregg Allman is a touchstone of Southern rock, as one of the principals in the Allman Brothers Band founded mainly by his brother Duane. As his final album he left us this fine contemporary mix of rock, blues, soul and folk music, done in a modern style but still true to its roots and true to Gregg's soul, as he knew he was dying of cancer during its making. The bonus edition with the DVD on its making is insightful, with a look at the famed Fame Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, where this music was made.

The first song definitely tugs at the heart strings. There is excellent musicianship throughout, both on Allman's part, as well as by the sidemen. The DVD gives great background on the making of the album, along with Gregg's motivations for producing the record.

This is Greg Allman's last album he recorded before he passed away.I love the Allman Bros band. The cool thing about this CD is that he recorded it at muscle shoals recording studio where his brother Duane was a session guitar musician.

I recommend to spend the extra couple of dollars and get the deluxe edition that has the DVD which contains footage of the making of Southern blood.. sadly this would be Gregg Allman's final recording.

Southern Blood is the final recording from Gregg Allman prior to his death. It is one of the most heartwarming and beautiful projects I've ever listened to. What an awesome final gift to his fans.

Bought this CD/DVD for my husband and he loved it. It is to bad it is getting harder to find CD's for sale. Not everyone likes to download their music. Husband has over 1000 CD's!

If you like Gregg Allman, you'll love this album. If you are (somehow) not familiar with his work, this will make you want more of his extensive catalog of work. You need to hear this!

The songs are demo simplicity.
Would love to remake with the band production. More rhythm, more slide, more of the “Brothers and Sisters” sound.
But in the end.......it is........
