If this turns up at the IMAX again, I'm going to see it. The quality is good, but this is worthy of that enormous screen to get the import of the experience.

This was filmed for an Imax screen which eliminates the black bars on the top and bottom.
Comes with a digital and blu-ray copy.

I must agree with the previous reviewer that this title would best be rented rather than purchased unless you are a huge fan of NASA or similar programs. And yes, the first 3.5 minutes is not in 3D, but that is a minor gripe compared to the other letdowns in this movie.
I am into astronomy and have great interest in science, but even I found this title to be fairly boring. I hate saying that because 'boring' is such a subjective term, but a good deal of this documentary was shot on the ground and contains talking heads. When you think about other 3D IMAX titles, you think of stunning views and pop-out-of-the-screen 3D. 3D doesn't do too much for talking heads. There is some impressive 3D content to be sure (toward the end for instance, one astronaut throws a tennis ball at the camera and it appears to come right out at you), but the vast majority of this movie suffers from terrible ghosting/crosstalk on what should be impressive vistas or interesting interior shots of the space station.
This is one title that I would not recommend picking up until it hits the clearance racks... at least for most people. If you teach a high school science class and have 3DTV in the classroom, this might be right up your alley.

I just saw this film for the first time since it was out in IMAX and the first 3.5 minutes of the Bluray 3D was not in 3D. I could've sworn it was 3D when I saw it in IMAX. I thought I had a defective copy or chose the wrong format to be displayed. Other than that, the rest of the film's 3D was good. Some parts had major "ghosting" but overall, the 3D effects were spectacular. The scenes in the space station were vivid and made you almost feel like you were there. I will say that this Bluray was far too short for the price but with very little 3D content out on the market, I just had to buy it to utilize this tech.
If only you could rent (instead of purchase) this Bluray...

i saw all the bad reviews and just had to make a comment. So what if the first 2 min are not in 3d i use this for 3d skeptics who say there is not big difference because at first there isn't and then all the sudden its like wow. And as for no memorable scenes how about the space launch where the 3d camera is destroyed. Bottom line is it is not the greatest 3d movies i have seen, but is a good 3d movie if you like documentaries.

I had some high hopes for this movie. RIGHT off the bat there is a flaw. The first 3 or 4 minutes are not in 3D, and you can tell by the cinamatography that it was supposed to be. Also anyone that saw this in the IMAX theater remembers this part being 3D.
So right away you have a bitter taste in your mouth after spending around 44 dollars after taxes, and the opening part is messed up. These IMAX 3D movies are FAR from cheap at 39.99 plus tax you are almost at a dollar a minute. To get ripped off of your first 4 minutes stinks. Plus it takes away your first impression, Which SHOULD have been the real "OH WOW" moment when you see the 3D.
But no.... mysteriously about 3.5 minutes into it, the 3D just comes in and then boom, you are in 3d the rest of the way.
And though this issue was WELL documented all over the net, the production company never did anything to rectify it.
Other that that it was OK at best. There were not any memorable 3D moments that you would use to show off your 3D tv to a friend. For example IMAX Under the Sea 3D has a GREAT 3D moment when this Potato Cod is hovering right out in front of you. Its a scene that you want to share with your friends when they come over. Its a must see.
This movie did not have any of that kind of thing.
The astronauts try to hard to be funny, but at the end of the day its a bunch of old scientists playing in zero G's on our tax dollars. It became more clear to me why the NASA program was ended.
Overall it was neat to see some of that stuff but the non 3d first 3.5 minutes got it off to a bad start and there was not enough content to save it and make up for the error.
Worth 15 to 20 bucks, definately NOT 40.

I, like many, am desperate for good content in 3D. I've enjoyed several of the IMAX presentations and found this to be another solid effort.

Awesome Spacestation on 3D ! ! ! I saw this film twice in the IMAX theatre at the California Science Center in Los Angeles. It's absolutely phenomenal. The narration, camera work, direction and editing are very impressive. Some launch scenes will leave you scrambling for cover they are so real! Some shots of Earth from the Space Station are breathtaking. At times I felt as if I were there outside the Space Station looking down toward Earth. I strongly recommend it!

Saw this at the Smithsonian Air & Space in Washington, it is a great film. However, ordered this one supposedly in 3-D according to the description on BestBuy.com last month and it is not 3-D. Since then they have released another version for $39.99, which really is in 3-D. If you are looking for a truly 3-D version, you need to buy that one. I am disappointed Best Buy has not corrected the description of this movie yet.

DO Not Purchase this item, I returned it thinking that there was some sort of 3d error that did not allow for the feature to work, but after rturning it and trying the new one i quickly realized that $40.00 went down the drain. Please, please dont waste your time and money!
