I am familiar with the story of Spartacus from the series; however, this was my first time viewing the classic 1959 film. The movie itself is a classic with terrific performances from Kirk Douglas, Lawrence Olivier, Peter Ustinov and a young Tony Curtis. The transfer is beyond reproach, the result of some fine restoration work. The steelbook art is very cool.

I remember my younger years when I'm watching these classic movies. Ben Hur, Ten Commandments is one of them. I hope to watch other classic movies in 4k, too. Spartacus is a good movie that you can learn a lot, that how's life back then with the Roman Empire. O well all in all classic movies are great. I'm not tired of watching it even everyday.

It's so great you need to get this or else you'll miss out

This cut of Spartacus looks great. You either fall in one of two camps- you like old movies or you don't. If you like them and enjoy top quality this buy is a no brainer. The rest of you should try to watch this via stream and decide whether this your jam. If you like it and want to own it, then again this is a no brainer.

A true masterpiece of storytelling. Even though Kubrick essentially disavows this movie, it's still a force to be reckoned with. From the acting to the settings, it's just a wonder to behold. Researching some of the behind the scenes information makes the viewing experience even more exciting. The palace intrigue didn't just remain in the palace.

I saw this movie once before. Cannot recall if it was dvd or Blu-ray. The image quality of the 4K is fantastic! Looks like it was filmed yesterday. This benefits from a true remaster from the original film. The story maintains my interest, even though movies over 2 hours are usually trashed for length these days.

One of the most outstanding 4K titles yet released! Technicolor and Technirama 70 really kick in with a vengeance. It's like sitting in a first-run theater on opening day, 1960. Sensational steelbook with amazing color, picture and sound clarity. Highly recommended.

I bought this 4K UHD DVD version of this classic movie to add to my library of carefully selected DVD. The movie is 60 years old! The audio and video quality of the transfer to disc are outstanding. It was fun to see actors who are no longer with us — Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis, Laurence Olivier, Peter Ustinov, for example.

I've seen Spartacus numerous times, including in the theater on wide screen. Fabulous film that everyone should watch. You will not be disappointed. In 4K HDR it practically comes to life in your living room. Great performances by all the actors, but Kirk Douglas leads the way. Kirk Douglas is Spartacus. No, wait. I'm Spartacus.

I had an issue of reds, blues and greens separating in the menu and movie when I loaded it. I unplugged and restarted the player and it played fine. I have an LG 4k player with updated firmware and it seems to have problems with many Universal UHD and blu-rays. Once I restarted it, the movie looks amazing. Great restoration.

I’m not here to review the film “Spartacus” - at this point, it should be considered an undisputed classic. What I am reviewing, however, is the steelbook itself - It’s a beautiful, stunning red color with a great inlay of scenes from the film. The actual disc itself also comes With extras that the previous Blu-ray version Didn’t have!

Excellent old school movie, with some great extras! With the meticulous remaster that was done, watching this in 4k is an incredible experience! The movies themes are still relevant today, even though it was made in1960. The picture looks absolutely incredible!! Can't recommend this one enough.

This 4k edition is my ultimate Spartacus. Having had the Criterion Laser Disc for many years, I replaced it with the Bluray just a few years ago, I thought I finally had the movie in its most watchable medium. Not so, the UHD is a even greater step up in clarity, color rendition and enjoyment.

Spartacus had always been one of my favorite movies of all time. The 4k version is the best picture quality released. I was a bit disappointed with the surround sound. The rear channels seemed weak, not strong enough. I really enjoyed the interview with Kirk Douglas, "I am Spartacus".

This classic epic film is finally on Blu-ray. Spartacus has a stellar ensemble cast that includes: Kirk Douglas, Laurence Olivier, Tony Curtis, Peter Ustinov and Stanley Kubrick as the director. This film is extremely well done and now it comes with the added features that come with the Blu-ray format. I love that I can now see this film finally on Blu-ray.

A classic film, looking better than ever! I am so glad to see the release of this gloriously spectacular in 4K! Every other release of this film is now made obsolete with this beautiful, crisp and vivid discovery. You have never seen Spartacus like this before!

great movie... i am a kirk douglas fan anyway... have seen this movie several times over the years... but still wanted the 4k version ... The movie never looked better... but the storyline could have been stretched out more, one of those movies that keep you watching.

This is a must have. The 4K restoration makes this movie look like it was done yesterday and the DTS-X audio is phenomenal. I can’t believe this was shot in 1960. This movie is definitely worth having in your collection. I am really glad that I purchased this.

Restored in 2015 for Blu-ray, this 4K HDR presentation really shines! Great color depth and clarity adds to an already phenomenal Blu-ray release. This exclusive Steelbook from Best Buy is a must have for fans of this historic film by Stanley Kubrick. Highly recommended!!!
