It has bad writing, but the spectacle of it was just enough to keep it from being terrible.

I saw this 20 years ago in the theater, bought it and it's not very good. Martin Sheen is way over the top. Don't regret it but it may be another 20 years before I watch it again.

Spawn has never been a movie I took serious, however, I am a big fan of the character, so for what it offers as a live action interpretation, I appreciate it. Though the movie suffers from some shortcomings such as a predictable plot and characters, along with iffy acting at times, the movie is still good for what it's worth; a fun movie that you can just sit back, relax and watch, leaving your brain at the door. After seeing other transfers of Spawn, I have to say this is no doubt the best transfer available. Some scenes even borderline spectacular with dimensionality and clarity. The loud and vicious sound mix also doesn't disappoint. It comes with a nice assortment of special features, my personal favorite being the music videos included. Note that the special features aren't in HD, so be prepared for that. Whether you like Spawn as a character, or the actual movie will depend on whether this is justified as a purchase. Maybe for a fan of the character, but definitely for a fan of the film.

This movie is fun to watch. Spawn is one of the greatest heroes. He's very unique. Michael Jai White is really cool with his role of Spawn. John Leguizamo sure took it seriously playing as Clown aka Violator but still had funny moments like where he dressed like a cheerleader. Very awesome origin story in the movie. I once had this movie on VHS and it was rated PG-13 (it was it's theatrical cut). I found this on Blu-ray and it's rated R. It's the director's cut. If you're gonna look for the theatrical cut on DVD, don't bother! There is no DVD release for the theatrical cut, only the director's cut. I looked all over the Internet for a DVD release for the theatrical cut and there's no such thing as a DVD release for the theatrical cut.

Spawn is an incredible movie. While some do not like for its deviations from its source material, it is almost exactly as Spawn creator Todd McFarlane wanted. And the cast is just awesome: Michael Jai White, Martin Sheen, John Leguizamo, and Melinda Clarke to name a few. Spawn is deep story of action, emotion, betrayal, and rebirth. It also, just as its comic book and animated counterparts did, brings its own view of religion, without forcing it onto the audience or overwriting much of the plot. And the DVD brings you Todd McFarlane's vision of the movie, and includes several interviews, featurettes, a trailer for the movie and a trailer for Todd McFarlane's Spawn (season 1). This is a movie you should see. Johm Leguizamo is very funny in twisted and perverse way as the demonic Clown.

I like this movie. It's probably mostly for nostalgic reasons, but I really enjoy it. It's not the best movie, but it is fun and an interesting version of an interesting comic.

Other than not being able too stand John Leguizamo, I found this movie very entertaining. Based off the Todd McFarlane series. This movie is a good time, great special effects and lots of fun!!!

I bought this online as a Christmas gift for my brother for Christmas and he loves it!! He's been wanting it for a while and I couldn't find it anywhere else, but online at Best Buy. Sooo happy I found it!

Although this doesn't rank with the all time great DC/Marvel movies, this is still a classic. Hoping it could be remade in the future.
