Way better on Blu-ray than dvd a definite upgrade in quality. Hopefully the reboot comes out soon!

I loved this movie!! It brought comic-book superheroes into the mainstream of theaters before the modern BLAST of Superhero flicks like Batman and Superman and Spider-man! Spawn was and is original comic-book storytelling at its best, I loved it and it's a must own for any fan!

Too early for it's time but if they actually pull the trigger on a Spawn reboot it could potentially be on the greatest superhero films ever!

I remembee this being one of my favorite films as a kid, and although it might not seem as awe-inspiring today as when I first saw it, it still holds up nicely... Especially on BLU RAY! Spawn is a visual feast for your eyes. With special effects that might seem a lil cheesy by todays standards but you still gotta love it. The picture quality on this release is definitely an upgrade over previous releases. Though its far from perfect. Rather than give it an over haul and remaster it from the ground up, this looks like just an upscaled version of a DVD that they slapped on to a BD. Sharpness is ok if not a lil muddy at times, theres is visible crush in the image whenever the action is taking place in darkness and shadows, and in this film theres alotta that. But to say that its bad wouldnt be fair at all. Colors are faithfully reproduced and the overall clarity is good enough. The sound is where this film will absolutely blow you away! Great use of the surround channels, a loud and agressive bass, and nice seperation of music and sound effects all around you. Spawn rocks in DTS HD-MA This directors cut edition is the R-rated version (not the PG-13 theatrical version) and it includes some cool bonus content with an in-depth look at the making of this film. Im a sucker for special features. All in all, this is probably the best Spawn is ever gonna get.

I loved how everything looked all the way down to the special effects. Nothing like I've ever seen. One for the collection.

Love this movie I can watch this over and over again

Spawn pre dates most comic book films, except Superman by the Salkynds and Tim Burton's Batman, but it shows the potential of what these films could be. Well made on a budget, with an excellent cast and Martin Sheen and John Leguizamo as villains extraordinaire and Michael Jai White giving a powerful performance as Spawn. Some of the effects are cheesy but the overall result is a pretty good foray into the world of the Comic anti-hero 20 years before Deadpool or Logan there was Spawn.

This movie looks great on bluray, the sharpness looked great and was not overkill like in some bluray remastering older films that were on dvd where you can see alot of static and way too much contrast that sometimes not even adjusting your tv settings for the specific movie works. If you liked spawn for its comedy and action scens even tho some of the movie scenes are a bit cheesy. Its still a great buy and i would highly recommend it.

Excellent dark superhero flick, in the vein of Blade. Would love to see this get rebooted, since the hard "R" is coming back, and audiences are embracing it. Spawn deserves to be introduced to a new generation of audiences. For tech specs, a decent A/V transfer, but I'm just grateful it's on blu.

I remember watching this at my friends house as a kid thinking it was awesome, kinda corny looking now but it’s got that nostalgia feel for me

90's nostalgic joy ride that is highly enjoyable for all Spawn fans. The movie focuses on Spawn's origin. It is somewhat "power rangery" at times, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you're into everything McFarlane, then go ahead and pick this one up.

Every once in a while, when I see an older title on bluray I will grab it to upgrade the DVD I already own (when its on sale). This was in the $5 bin so I snatched it up. This is one of those titles that may be so old that HD post production isn't even possible. Watching it was difficult as most of the time we are accustomed to great picture quality when spinning up most BR titles. I would be willing to bet if I dug up the old DVD and put them side by side there would be almost no detectable change in picture quality. Dissapointing as it is a pretty good older Comic Book Movie. If you don't own it and can get it for $5 bucks great, but don't expect it to blow you away with resolution.

Can’t go wrong with this movie. One of the few that you’re not disappointed in the end because it’s so far off from the comics. I was left wanting more when I first saw it as a kid and still now as an adult.

Classic and dark superhero movie telling of Spawn's origin. Solid four stars. Would love to see a remake as the CGI was in its infancy at the time. John Leguizamo is perfect for his role. I had wished for a sequel.

While the Spawn animated series is by far darker, grittier, and awesome, the movie is ok. Nothing spectacular except for seeing Spawn brought to life on the big screen. Every actors performance is as cheesy as I remembered. But, seeing the suit in action kinda makes up for it.

great special effects, authentic comic book characters and awesome costume and great and entertaining story. I recommend this movie to comic book fans of spawn as well as anyone else who enjoys films about super heroes who overcome conflicting odds. The acting was good too.
