It’s raised up around the screen and the camera for extra protection. Have a tempered glass screen protector also. I’ve always felt like my phone is protected with the Speck kind of cases. Have had a Speck case on all of my devices over the years and they hold up really well. Case was a bit pricey but I guess you get what you pay for.

My first was for my iPhone5. And speaking from a female point of view, they are not only durable but beautiful as well.
