The new models still have the raised grips in the same locations however they are plastic. The problem is it slides off surfaces without the rubber grips. We returned the case and are hoping the return to the previous manufacturing details. Didn't want to bash the case with a 1 star review as it is still a phone case but just deducted for change in design.

I was able to charge my phone on a different QI charger at home but I had to place it on there just right. This new MagSafe is becoming a problem. The case does not have the same kind of grip that other Speck cases have as there is no rubber on the outside. The case is very stiff and not so easy to take on and off. The play on the buttons is terrible as they are also very stiff. Maybe this will change with some use but right now I would not recommend this case. However, I also bought two other Speck cases through them, one black and the other blue. They are also grip cases and they are not as stiff and have rubber on the outside so I would recommend those. Just stay away from the Speck clear grip case.
