A 4 star rating might be better as an average since it may not be for everyone. For extreme toughness and durability, this is 6+ stars. It really is a tough, tough case, and the cutouts for the mute/ring switch, camera, and bottom (speakers/charge) are good. I especially like that the bottom is not fully open like a mailbox slot; instead, there are strong cross pieces between the two speakers and charge slot. Basically, the openings are three deeply set ovals. The lower rating is for the volume and power buttons, which definitely require someone with stronger hands. Our HS daughter can't hardly get mine to turn on, and while she is in waaaay better shape than I am (dance, HS cross-country), she has small hands. Keep this in mind. I have had the normal number of drops, and there are no corner cracks. In fact, the exterior does not show any scuffs. Like I said: super, super tough. So If you like basic black and want an extreme case, this is a great choice. And the design is cool, too: I like that the power and volume buttons stick up just a tiny bit more than the other nubs that ring the outside edge of the case.

I still have the older 6s iPhone so finding a good protective cover wasn't easy! I found this one and saw the great features to protect my phone if I drop it (I tend to drop my phone a lot!). This one was one piece and was easy to put on. It has thick edges for protection. The only thing I don't like is that it's quite stiff and hard to push the side volume buttons and the power button. I'm hoping that it will soften up a little as I use it. Overall, I think this cover will work and function well.

Got this on sale for an iPhone SE (2nd gen). It fits just fine. It's thin enough not to be bulky yet feels solid enough to take a drop. It's been drop several times and both case and phone held up just fine. The only problem I have with this case (and it's a big one) is that the buttons are near impossible to locate AND push. Because of the notched design, you'll have to look at the phone to locate the button (can't just feel your way inside a pocket). In addition, the buttons are super hard to press. They are not tactile at all. There's no click to it. You're just pressing hard plastic. Most time you really have to push it several time for it to work. The notched design help improve grip. The back is matted plastic, it's neither smooth nor "sandy," just enough texture to be grippy and not too slippery. Be aware that because of it's semi-rigid construction, it can be hard to remove the case if you need to.

Great protection, clean look but feels a bit cheap. Ribbed sides makes it easy to hold onto. Back of case feels a bit cheap, but looks okay. Worth the price. Difficult to put on and take off...just leave it on.

Fits the phone great. Easy to hold onto. VERY durable and appears that it will protect the phone very well. The first Speck case I've had; I like it. Only 4 stars though because you need to push HARD to depress the side buttons, sometimes need to push several times.

This Speck product is only sold at Best Buy. It was about $10 cheaper that the other Speck case that I liked. It feels somewhat loose and bulky. It also seems to offer very good protection from drops or bumps. I would recommend if you want to save $.

it's little too bulky, but is tough. have dropped the phone countless times and it protects it fine. Side buttons are hard to press with it on though.

Just as its name states, it has some tough skin. I recently purchased an iPhone 8 and needed a case that was not bulky, but provide good protection for the device. I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this for anyone looking for similar features.

Got this case for my daughter and it’s been great protection for her phone. I like that it’s slim but protective. I wished I could have found the same one for my iphonyXr

Not a bad case for the price. Not quite as good as the Otter Box, but will definitely do the job.

I bought this as Christmas gift for my dad. He is rough on his phone so I needed strength but slimness at the same time since he carries his phone in his pocket. This case was sleek and tough. He loved it. It was on clearance so I got a great price on it as well.

I needed a spare phone case, and this one was only twelve bucks after tax. It’s true that it’s hard to press the side buttons, and the edge ridges ate a little weird, but that’s ok with me.

I had purchased a protective case for my phone and after opening it found it to be too overly protective for my needs. Way too tactical seeming for everyday use. Upon returning it I purchased this Speck Toughskin. Perfect! Protection without being overblown. Function use is not hindered either. I believe I am really going to like it.

..its extremely rigid plastic and unibody design can make it hard for the button on the side of the phone to work for the power and volume. Other than that it has been dropped several times and my phone has lived!

This case seems to add very good protection and does not add very much to the size of the phone. My only negative comment is that sometimes it is difficult to turn the phone off using the off button.

I have already dropped my phone twice (fell from my shirt pocket) since purchasing this case, and It has provided 100% protection! Despite the rugged looking sides of the case, the buttons on my phone still work perfectly, which I was a bit concerned about at first.
