When DISNEY acquired MARVEL, the animation scene lost an incredible gem. THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN is by far the BEST telling of the Spider-Man mythos in animation form. Combining the traditional comic story with dashes of SONY's Cinema Interpretation yielded a "Best Of Both Worlds" result. Spidey has been known as the wise-cracking yet lovable superhero who is plagued with bad luck, but blessed with loving relationships. This series does an excellent job capturing this story from both his alter-ego and his day-to-day identity of Peter Parker. IF you're looking for a great story, witty dialog / banter (quips), excellent choreographed action scenes to add to your animation catalog, I cannot recommend this item highly enough (And it has a very catchy title song). Excelsior!

Spidey Fans, rejoice! The entirety of this *ahem* Spectacular show is finally collected in one Volume... and on Blu-Ray no less! In terms of the Quality of the Blu-Ray, the image is crisp, the colors are vibrant, and the sound is clear. In terms of the plot, this show is a real treat for any newcomer or veteran spider-man aficionado. Somehow this show pulls off the nonstop action of Spider-man fighting baddies, while juggling the issues of Peter's personal life. Also they put interesting new spins on some of our old favorite characters. I really don't know how else to explain it other than to say it is amazing, and anyone looking for a good Super Hero cartoon would not be disappointed. I would venture to say that if it was not cancelled prematurely, this iteration of Spider-Man could have been on par with Batman the Animated Series in terms of overall excellence. As a side note for any Venom fans out there, THIS would be the show to watch: *Minor Spoilers* Season 1 Concludes with an epic battle between the web-head and his alien counterpart. NEVER BEFORE has such an epic curb-stomp battle between Venom and Spider-Man been televised. If there is one complaint I have, it is that Eddie's transformation into a villain seems somewhat forced... but the viewer will forget this when watching the season finale, and a faithful rendition of the character of Venom. This is the Venom that should have been featured in the 3rd Spider-Man movie. *Spoilers End* In conclusion, why haven't you bought this yet? It is the finest piece of Marvel Animation out there. Buy, be amazed, and crave for more when you reach the season 2 finale. It is a shame that they cancelled this to make "Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man," for Spectacular Spider-Man is a much higher quality of TV Show. I would very much like to have seen AT LEAST a Season 3 of this.

I bought this bluray series collection for my 4 year old son. He loves spider man and watches the netflix ultimate spider man series. This is a different series all together and i personally like the spectacular spiderman version as it also reminds me of my childhood memories. With that said, the spiderman bluray cartoons look excellent on my tv. Keep in mind that my bluray player is set to 1080P @ 24hz output with the HDMI dark color set to Auto as there is only an Auto/ off option on my specific bluray player. The tv that i have is set to receive a 1080p signal and the Native refresh rate is 120HZ. I like maximizing the refresh rate so on my tv the max setting is called Smooth, so that is my setting. With that out of the way, i have had the best experience watching this show with my 4 year old son and i would highly recommend it. If by any chance you dont want the soap opera effect on your tv just set the refresh rate to off on the tv and on your bluray player turn off the 24hz filter and it will not display the effect but just remember that you might see some ghostly jitter around the movie actors or cartoon characters when they are doing fast motion action moves. Other then that its an awesome movie series to watch with your spiderman fan.

Do yourself a favor and look past the character designs. I know it's hard when you first start watching (especially if you've been watching things such as Young Justice or the like), but you will be rewarded with one of (if not THE) most accurate representations of Spider-Man ever made. The simple looking (at first glance) animation allows the animators a lot more freedom to animate fluidly, and the fight scenes are off the charts as a result. The voice acting is pretty much spot-on across the board, and Josh Keaton is the voice I will hear in my head anytime I read a Spidey comic. Greg Weisman is one of the most amazing showrunners in animation. From Gargoyles, to Young Justice, he is at the top of his game. This show is to Spider-Man what Batman: The Animated Series was to Batman. If you're at all a Spidey fan, you owe it to yourself to give it a try.

This blu-ray set is spectacular (pun very much intended). The picture is so clear, the colors are amazing and the sound is actually pretty great for a cartoon. Dont let the simple style of the show fool you, it was chosen for better animations. The story is a mixture of everything Spider-Man, comics, movies, etc. resulting in a very fresh take on Spidey. Do yourself a favor and pick up this sadly short-lived series. Highly recommended.

It's not easy to top the 90's Spiderman cartoon, and Spectacular doesn't even try. It's own animal, with great character design, a teenage Peter Parker, and of course the best rogue's gallery in comics, of course the only challenger to that title is Batman. Fantastic episdoes, especially the Venom/Sinister Six episodes. The only complaint is the almost complete lack of special features, 2 making of EPK's, would've loved to see some episode commentaries.

Like any show that was too good, it was cut short. So suits The Spectacular Spider-Man. This show is nothing short of fantastic and it looks great on Blu-ray. I wish there was more to the show. As in more episodes. More special features would have been nice too but even so, I cannot recommend this series enough. Fan of Spider-Man? Got something that plays Blu-rays? Don't hesitate, buy it.

This is fun cartoon for young and old alike. It brings in many of the classic spiderman villians, sometimes following the comics and sometimes adding new flavor to old characters. Everyone is here including Betty brant, JJJ, Eddie brock, Gwen, and many more. I would recommend this for spiderman lovers or for people looking for a place to start with the wallcrawler. Buy this and enjoy.

The complete Spectacular Spider-Man was a great show, but the very cartoony art style kind of takes away from the overall presentation. I think if you are a Spider-Man fan this is something that you want for your collection. The Blu Ray set is also a good deal. In most cases it is cheaper to buy this set than to buy them separately on DVD. If you a Spider-Man Fan…..Go Buy It!!!

The Spectacular Spider-Man is a great show, and it deserved more than two seasons. The only complaints I have are the fact that some of the voice actors sound like they're trying too hard, and the episode setup is weird. Each season has two discs, but both discs in a season show the name of every episode in that season instead of only showing the episodes on the disc.

I grew up on 90's cartoons so as surprising as this may sound I have to say this was by far the best representation of Spiderman I have seen in animation. Yes, that includes the stellar 90's Spiderman series on FOX. With that said, I was saddened when this was abruptly cancelled because it was a great series!!!

Spectacular Spider-Man is the best Spider-Man media to exist in years. Better than the movies, better than the current tv show. Created by the creator of the Gargoyles cartoon, this is a rather fun and engaging version of Spider-Man that plays well with fans of the comic without making things too obvious

This is by far the best adaptation of Spider-Man. It is slightly better than Spider-Man The Animated Series, most definitely better than most of the movies. The voice work is excellent and the story follows the comic very well. Characters are fully developed. It is shame it ended early.

So living with total web-heads (I being a Bats girl through and through), I was hesitant to subject myself to yet another Spidey rehashing. The action was lively and the humor was fresh, I found myself thoroughly enjoying the typical Spidey-Parker one liners. You can tell the writers of this series likely grew up with Spiderman and wrote a show other fellow big kids could enjoy... and their little kids too of course. A great addition to your hero collection, and far more fun to watch than say... the old Spiderman and Friends show.

Probably one of the best spiderman cartoons to have been made. Only tw season long you get the spiderman you want, the wisecracking intelligent web head that has been lacking from the movies. Watch this if you want the spiderman that comes from the comics

I had trepidation about this version of Spiderman as only knew the 90's version and saw the poor efforts of many other versions. This version has well crafted stories and crisp video and now both seasons together. My kids love it too...but it's really for me.

AND one of the very best incarnations of Spidey on any screen and in any form./ Looks great of blu-ray./ Only downside is that this great show was cancelled after just 2 seasons./ But at least we have 26 glorious episodes to relish here!

This show is excellent! This is the kind of product we see from a creative team with a clear vision and a respect for their audience. This show deserves to still be running today.

It's a shame that there were only two seasons of this tv series ... this bluray has them both. If you grew up watching Spider-man and reading the comics, you will definitely want to check this short lived series out for yourself.
