I admit I like JB movies. This one was closer to a typical JB flick, and was a bit of a let down from Skyfall, which I guess should have been expected. Still worth the price of the disc which was less than going to the theater.

This is another solid entry in the Bond franchise that has been going for decades. Obviously, not quite on the level of Skyfall, but that was going to be almost impossible. Still solid action and acting, but lacking on a strong story.

I think all bond movie are great. But I think that most of the other actor fit the Bond creator better than Danial. I think Danial is a great actor, just does not fit what I think that Bond should be.

Very well done story and action. The Daniel Craig series bond films are just so much better than the 70's and 80's slop.

Daniel Craig returns once again as James "007" Bond in the 24th films (excluding spin-offs and what-not). Here, Bond confronts a global terrorist organization known only as Spectre. They seem to have their dirty little hands in everything, everywhere and 007 is the only person who seems to believe they even exist, let alone the only one trying to stop them.
Craig once again dons the tuxedo and does and excellent job of it. Fans will be pleased that this films is less "Bourne" and more old-school Bond. Familiar faces show up, Bond gets some of his gadgets for use against the villains. If you loved the Sean Connery Bonds then you'll be smiling ear-to-ear with all the references and easter-eggs hidden throughout the film.
At 148-minutes, it's the longest Bond to date and some might find the bloated running time a bit difficult to get through. There's plenty of action, but it is spread out, going long stretches as Bond investigates.
It's a great film, but for some reason MGM decided that extras on the Blu-Ray weren't important. Skyfall was loaded, but here we only get "Spectre: Bond's Biggest Opening Sequence; Video Blogs and a Gallery. That's it. Kind cheap if you ask me. Guess a double-dip is in order when the inevitable "Special Edition" hits the market in a few years.

A Very Good Wrap-up of the D Craig Bond Series

There is no doubt that the film series has evolved. Not only with our cinematic sensibilities of good action adventure (informed by the Mission Impossible and Bourne movies) but also by our contemporary need to have flawed heroes seeking some form of redemption. Craig brings that sensibility of 'damaged goods' to the role of 007. Certainly, the stunts and cinematic thrills continue to grow in complexity and execution, using both practical and computer enhanced effects. But all of the flash means nothing if the characters aren't strongly written. It took many years to get back to Ian Fleming's literary creation, as opposed to the (often) silly contrivances of formulaic girls, guns and stunts plus the increasingly improbable villains. Dalton's Bond made a valiant attempt to give our hero more real angst and tragedy, but the movie-going public wan't ready. Brosnan's good looks and suave manner fooled a lot of folks while he worked towards building a solid character that had a lot of depth. I sort of feel he had one more great Bond movie in him, but financial and creative issues prevented that from happening. Daniel Craig has been allowed to ground the so-called super spy in a world where consequences are real and lasting. Okay, so this has been more of an overview than specific review, so I will say this: Spectre is a fine movie that does a really good (sometimes great) job of helping to bring full circle the journey of Craig's Bond from talented and self-centred amateur to a fully-fledged agent who makes informed choices based on morality and not expediency. Is it better than Skyfall? No, but as part of the quadrilogy, it does what it should and helps to wind up several dangling questions while not completely shutting down the franchise. If Craig were to walk away from this series, he leaves it in a good place.
The extras are quite disappointing, so of course there will be a better version released later, for which most of us will pony up.

Spectre is the latest James Bond movie and it is pretty good. I suffers in comparison to Skyfall in pace and story. It is nice to have both the Bluray and a digital code.

Back to the Original Bond Formula

Watching Bond Marathons with my dad, growing, up, I kept wondering with modern Bond flicks "What happened to Bond?"
Somewhere along the line, the formula was lost, albeit laughable and mocked at times (e.g. The villain telling the hero his exact plans right before killing him, which always goes wrong.). These things were what made Bond smooth and daring. It is like our relationship with China and Russia, we pretend to be friends, but we spy the heck out of each other, pretend we don't, and pretend we don't know that we know the other guy is doing the same.
So, back to Spectre. Casino Royal (Craig) was the beginning of a return to grace. Skyfall, while excellent, felt a little too Dark Knight to be Bond. Spectre, on the other hand, was home from the beginning Dia de los Muertos scene in Mexico City, masks, crowds, and all...and the villain...masterful!
If you miss traditional Bond, this movie is awesome! For those newer to Bond, you may not like this, but remember, the silly aspects aren't dumb, there is a deeper reasoning hidden there. If you don't enjoy it, then Bond truly never was your style of movie, but this Spectre is a true return to form for those of us longing for it!

Things blowing up, high dollar cars, car cases, etc. New people playing M and Q. A much younger Q, that is learning what Bond wants in his toys.

Daniel Craig's tenure as James Bond has been a rebooting of the 007 franchise, as a young Bond becomes a mature agent. "Spectre" is the end of that narrative arc. In this outing, Bond's opponent is a man whose name will be familiar to long time fans of the franchise.
The movie opens with a terrific action sequence in Mexico, set on the Day of the Dead. Bond is off on a private mission, while MI-6, in the fallout from "Skyfall", is facing termination. With help from Moneypenny (Naomie Harris) and Q (Ben Whishaw), Bond will doggedly pursue a trail of clues to a young woman who may have some of his answers. Together, they will find and face an old acquaintance who is the head of a very evil and very powerful organization.
The movie has a story, and plenty of action sequences, one after another. The movie's subtheme, about the power of information and its misuse, is very topical, and the villain himself is urbanely, cheerfully nasty. There is a worthy evil henchman to be fought, an exciting car chase sequence in Rome, after dark, and an even better chase sequence in the Austrian Alps. Highly recommended as good entertainment for fans of the franchise.

Movie Review: Spectre

The main plot has Bond following clues to uncover the secret organization Spectre, who the leader Franz Oberhauser really is and then stop the plan to take over the world’s intelligence agencies. The subplots of C’s connection to Spectre and the dismantling of the OO section, Oberhauser being Ernst Stavro Blofeld and Bond’s foster brother, Mister White from Casino Royale adds some plot background and his daughter, Dr. Madeleine Swann [Léa Seydoux] who of course becomes a love interest for Bond all interweave with the main plot and for the most part work.
As I said earlier, Spectre is a good movie, exciting and enjoyable, but it does have some weaknesses. Director Sam Mendes has said that his main focus for Skyfall and for Spectre was showing an older Bond and how he reacts to the changes of the espionage world around him. Well if the producers wanted to do that they should have kept Pierce Brosnan on as Bond. The excuse for firing Brosnan was that they wanted a younger actor to match up with young attractive actresses. I think Brosnan wanting more money and profit participation had more to do with his firing than casting choices, but I still think Skyfall would have worked very well with Brosnan. I had hoped that the end scene in Skyfall had shut the lid on pealing back the layers of Bond’s troubled past and the next film would have Bond actually going on a real mission like in pre Craig Bond films. But no, Spectre continues to delve into Bonds childhood and adds a long lost evil brother Ian Fleming never created and who coincidentally happens to be the head of a global crime organization that he started because his dad liked young James too much. This plot line stretches believability more than a little and weakens the movie.

Get the popcorn ready and a shaker full of Vodka Martini's
(Shaken NOT stirred). Where Skyfall filled in a lot of the back story as to how the character of James Bond was raised, and why he had no family.
This movie raises some new questions about where he will go from here.
I do hope that the new "Q" (Quartermaster) will come up with some new toy that will allow an electromagnetic pulse (EMP emitter) to shut down ALL of the worlds electronics. and the bad guys get a hold of it. That way EVERYONE would have to use their own talents and not a laser sighted pistol or rifle. James Bonds years of training and talents would then be put to the test. as he drove the streets of London in a 1958 Bentley. With no electronics, no radio, no cell phones, only the mechanical gadgets, rescued from the MI6 museum.
This movie brings past 53 years a little further into the light as to the character of James Bond and what might happen under a new "M".
Pencils, erasers, carbon paper (ask your grand parents) and true human ingenuity and skill.
We all love the toys, but only James Bond has the talent to use them.
I hope you Enjoy this as much as we have.

I think this was the best bond series. I think the actor who plays bond is the best. This movie could have had a bit more action in it but still good.
