Not the best 007 but a solid movie

Good film resolution, only decent steelbook
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This review is specifically for the steelbook blu-ray edition of the film. First off, if you're a fan of the Daniel Craig era of Bond films, there is very little else that could have been done to return to the roots of James Bond (both in the characters, story, and style of storytelling - Look back to George Lazenby if you have any questions). It is a very fitting way to send off both actor Daniel Craig, and Director/Producer Sam Mendes, both of whom have hailed a new generation of Bond, intended to change the feel, look, and emotion behind the films. If you like the new films, then this is a great one. If you don't, this is not the one to finally convince you. Now, the reason for my four-star overall rating is for the steelbook packaging; I have the Bond 50th Anniversary collection blu-ray collection, which included Casino Royal, Quantum of Solace, and Skyfall... I got all three of those in their steelbook releases to match the full Daniel Craig set, even though it created a few duplicates in the library. Each of those has a beautiful, and unique design. They are pretty, but not so awe-inspiring that I would recommend them over the regular blu-ray release unless it's within a couple dollars, and you care. In the case of Spectre (pun intended), the artwork is minimal, unoriginal, and downright boring. While Quantum of Solace is arguably the most vague film of the current series, you wouldn't think so, to look at the cover art. In conclusion, for a decent quality cover, with uninspired artwork, and a subjectively good film, I would give it a solidly "good" rating. Happy hunting!

It's Not "Skyfall," but It's Still 007
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.2002's "Skyfall" was a commercial and critical smash, raking in a billion dollars worldwide and widely considered to be one of the best James Bond films. 2015's "SPECTRE" brought back director Sam Mendes (the first director to helm back-to-back Bond films in decades) and most of the crew, and builds on the events of that film, with Bond on a secret mission that leads him to a shadowy organization behind most of the pain in his life (basically everything that has happened since Daniel Craig became Bond with the Casino Royale reboot). As the name implies, the classic evil organization SPECTRE from the Sean Connery era is back, along with its leader whose name I won't mention here. Given all of this, one could reasonably expect SPECTRE to top its predecessor, but unfortunately it can't pull off the trick. The story just isn't as tight, the ending is a bit weak, and Sam Smith's theme song is nowhere nearly as good as Adele's effort from the previous film. However, it still boasts some amazing set pieces, especially the first one in Mexico City, we get a new Aston Martin, and Bond's new supporting cast (led by Ralph Fiennes as the new "M") are all solid in their limited roles. Like the film itself, the extras on the Blu-Ray are paltry compared to "Skyfall" (no audio commentaries as opposed to the two we got previously), but the technical presentation is excellent. If you're a Bond fan, it's an easy call, and you know you'll pony up for the double dip if MGM ever releases a deluxe version.

james bond
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i rather liked this movie. it is kind of a ride when i go back to think i have watched all of theJames bond movies. it is neat to see the different eras in time throughout the movies.getting to see the old 60's style of bond up until today.this one starts off in mexico with the festival of the dead if that is what it is called.right at the beginning James is after a bad guy who he chases through the streets of mexico and then to the air. James gets his man,but finds a ring on the mans finger. then we cut to opening credits after a nice action scene.from there the ring take James to an organization, which wants to take out the double 0 spy group and have security surveillance connected all over the world. this is supposed to help and aid in stopping certain types of crime faster. James infiltrates and finds a familiar friend at the head of the organization.take a look and check out who it is. there is plenty of bond style action throughout the movie.
